Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of self-efficacy on career decision making in students of the Faculty of Education and Psychology, State University of Semarang. The study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory design involving 115 students from the class of 2022 as a sample selected using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring self-efficacy and career decision-making based on Bandura's theory of self-efficacy and David V. Tiedeman's theory of career decision-making. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between self-efficacy and career decision-making (r = 0.712; p < 0.01). Simple linear regression analysis yielded the equation Y = 57.305 + 0.379X with a t-value of 10.781 and a significance of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant influence. The determination coefficient (R²) of 0.507 showed that self-efficacy contributed 50.7% to the variation in student career decision-making. These findings confirm that students with high levels of self-efficacy tend to be more confident and better able to make career decisions compared to students with low self-efficacy.

It used the hermeneutic method with discourse analysis to interpret the messages’ structure and pragmatic. The analysis result signifies that the Dasa Pitutur values are relevant with the other group orientation. The primary message taught in Dasa Pitutur is encouraging humans to comprehend their life journey and position to willingly and voluntarily accept their obligations and nature. Linear to their position as a social creature, they have to be aware of the essential values from their relationship, dependency, and appreciation toward other humans. Abstract

Character education in elementary schools remains a challenge, particularly with regard to students’ low level of social awareness, the emergence of bullying behavior, and the suboptimal internalization of values such as empathy and tolerance. These conditions indicate limitations in pedagogical approaches to character education that have not yet systematically engaged students in value reflection processes. This community service program aimed to enhance the pedagogical competence of elementary school teachers in implementing character education based on the Value Clarification Technique (VCT). The program was conducted in Sambirejo Village, Semarang Regency, involving 16 teachers from two elementary schools as partner institutions. The service employed a participatory training and mentoring approach, including needs analysis, VCT workshops, mentoring during classroom implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests of teachers’ understanding, observations of instructional practices, and reflective mentoring notes, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis. The results indicate an improvement in teachers’ understanding of VCT concepts and implementation steps, changes in instructional practices toward more dialogical and reflective learning, and improvements in classroom dynamics characterized by increased empathy, mutual respect, and students’ prosocial behavior. These findings demonstrate that VCT-based mentoring is effective in strengthening character education in elementary schools and contributes to the development of a child-friendly and character-oriented school culture.
