Abstract

The mangrove area of Togean Islands have been used for marine ecotourism activities.  The increasing of anthropogenic activities affected to decreasing of mangrove area and mangrove tourism attractive.  This research aim to assess characteristic and suitability of mangrove forest area for mangrove ecotourism uses.  The data were analyzed using principal component analysis (PCA) and spatial analysis with geographic information system (GIS) approach.  The result showed that the correlation value of those four parameters was relatively higher in November than in July.  Those parameters were the component that forms the main axis in both month. The increasing of turbidity and decreasing of salinity in November rather than in July were correlated with rainy season.  Generally, mangrove area in Togean Islands was suitable with conditional categories to mangrove ecotourism uses.  Ecotourism has the most potential to meet these goals and it will be able to tackle most of the problems when GIS technology would be used as a tool to minimize the impact.   Keywords: area suitability, mangrove, ecotourism, Togean Islands

Abstract

Abstract

Kata kunci : kualitas perairan laut, aktivitas wisata, Gugus Pulau Togean  Marine resources of Togean Islands have been used for tourism activity. The increasing number of tourist in certain period every year has lead to increasing of tourism activity and its related activity. This condition probably effects sea water and habitat qualities. This research aim to studied correlation between tourist season in one year and the change of marine water quality parameters in tourism area. The data were analyzed using PCA (Principal Component Analysis) and EPI(environmental pollution index). The result showed that BOD5, COD, and NH3 increased while DO decrease during the peak season of tourism activity. The correlation value of those four parameters was relatively higher in November than in July.  Those parameters were the component that forms the main axis in both seasons. The increasing of turbidity and decreasing of salinity and temperature in November rather than in July were correlated with rainy season and high wave. Abstract

The sustainability of seaweed cultivation is influenced by multidimensional factors such as the quality of the aquatic environment, cultivation technology, economic contribution to cultivators, social conditions of the community, and government institutional support. This paper aims to reveal the leveraging factors for the sustainability of seaweed cultivation in the coastal area of Parigi Moutong Regency by using a multidimensional scaling approach and the RAPFISH application. The results showed that the sustainability of seaweed cultivation in the coastal area of Parigi Moutong Regency was in the less sustainable category. Leveraging factors that play an important role in the sustainability of seaweed farming are employment at the cultivator level and the feasibility of cultivation as a good factor, while the low quality of seeds of seaweed, socio-cultural capital, and fluctuating commodities prices are categorized as bad factors.

Abstract

The fish catch by fishermen on the coast of Donggala Regency tends to fluctuate and is relatively low. This is thought to be caused by social, economic and traditional fishing techniques. This study analyzes the influence of fishermen experience factors, operational cost, fishing ground distance, long time at sea, and machine power on the fish catch of small-scale fishermen in Donggala Regency. Data collection was carried out from November 2020 to January 2021, and was analyzed using the Multiple Linear Regression method. The findings indicate that the fish catches of fishermen are influenced by the five socio-economic and technical factors analyzed. Capture fisheries development policies need to pay attention to the availability of capital, ownership and mastery of fishing technology.

Abstract

There has been a decline in seaweed prices in Central Sulawesi in the last five years, particularly in the processing and marketing sub-systems. The processing problems have constrained the volume of market demand. In contrast, marketing problems have disturbed the fulfillment of industrial and consumer demand for raw materials, thereby declining economic activity and profit. This research aimed to examine the leverage factors affecting the sustainability of the seaweed agro-industry integrated between sub-systems in Central Sulawesi Province. The collected numerical and non-numerical data were analyzed using the multidimensional scaling approach of the RAP-Seaweed technique. The results revealed that social conflict, labor absorption, the low value-added of the seaweed processing, and the high cost of raw material procurement caused the unsustainable development of the seaweed agro-industry. Therefore, government policies are required to facilitate investment in the seaweed industry, supported by enhancing the quality of transportation infrastructure, the use of local workers, and the security stability of the local area
