Abstract

Abstract

Enhancing the innovative competencies of vocational high school history teachers through videography training This videography training was conducted to train history teachers at vocational schools throughout the Malang Regency to be able to develop innovative history learning media in the form of videography. One of the indicators of an innovative teacher is being able to develop their own learning media according to the needs and characteristics of students in the class. A common problem in learning history in vocational schools is that students are less interested in history lessons because they are boring and not a subject that is appropriate for their field. One of the causes of student boredom is the lack of creativity and innovation of teachers in using learning media. So, it is necessary to conduct training to improve teacher competence in developing innovative learning media, namely videography. This training is realized in three stages, namely pre-activities, core activities and post-activities. The implementation of this history videography training was carried out for two days, namely on July 23, 2024, online using Zoom software and on July 25, 2024, offline at the Museology Laboratory, Department of History, State University of Malang. The results of the training, firstly showed that history teachers of vocational schools throughout Malang Regency assessed that the videography training succeeded in improving their competence with the results of the evaluation questionnaire of 80-93 percent, secondly the output of the videography project was able to be completed by the participants so that it can be used as an innovative learning media. With this training, it is hoped that history educators will not only teach but can also develop historical videos that can be used as a medium for learning history in the classroom.

Abstract

This study analyzes the transformation of the role of Madurese noble elites within the colonial power structure of the Dutch East Indies during the 1830–1942 period. In the pre-colonial era, Madurese nobles possessed absolute sovereignty rooted in feudal legitimacy, lineage, and patronage systems. However, colonial policies through the indirect rule system gradually integrated them into the administrative bureaucracy as mediators between the Dutch government and the local population. The research method employed is the historical method, encompassing heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results indicate that this transformation caused a shift in legitimacy from traditional-genealogical to rational-bureaucratic, where local elites functioned as tax collection apparatus and social supervisors. Despite being in a subordinate position, the Madurese elites demonstrated agency through policy negotiation and adaptation to modern education as part of bureaucratic professionalization. This study concludes that colonialism in Madura operated effectively by utilizing and modifying deeply rooted traditional social structures.

Abstract

History learning in the Merdeka Curriculum aims to develop critical thinking skills, national identity, and historical reflection through the active role of students (student-centered). However, in practice, one-way transfer still limits historical thinking skills, especially in the aspects of causality, chronological context, and present-day relevance. The results of the analysis of students in class XI-8 SMAN 7 Malang showed a lack of substantive knowledge related to the Japanese Occupation in Indonesia. As a solution, the Analysis, Knowledge, Understanding-Game Point Poster (AKU-GPP) strategy was developed, which consists of three stages: (1) Analysis to explore the causes of events; (2) Knowledge to reinforce historical facts; and (3) Understanding integrated with Game Point Poster to understand its contemporary impact. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the AKU-GPP strategy effectively improves students' causality thinking skills, active participation, affective attitudes, communication skills, observation, and reflection, so that it can be an alternative to student-centred history learning.

Abstract

The History subject of the Merdeka Curriculum presents historical practice skills as strands that need to be developed for students. Its position as a new strand, of course, is not free from the risk of problems. This problem occurred in history learning at SMA Laboratorium UM, which has not provided its students with the opportunity to apply historical practice directly. Along with this problem, the UPT Management of the UM Laboratory School developed Mini Projects Module (MPM) teaching materials for social science learning in Grade X. By implementing MPM, students are expected to be able to solve problems from various social science perspectives, such as History, Geography, Economics, and Sociology through field research activities and reporting in the form of photovoice. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the historical practice skills of SMA Laboratorium UM students when implementing MPM. The sample of this research was X6 students who were heterogeneous in nature. This article was written in a descriptive format by applying qualitative research methods to interpret the meaning behind the data from observations, interviews, open questionnaires, and documentation. The results of the research showed that X6 students can practice historical practice skills starting from the stage of collecting sources to compiling historiography through the implementation of MPM. However, these skills have not developed evenly across all students. Therefore, this article is expected to serve as a means of reflection and evaluation in developing historical practice skills.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the perception of history teachers towards the deep learning approach in history learning at SMA Negeri 3 Pamekasan and analyze the suitability between teachers' perceptions and classroom learning practices. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Research data was obtained through interviews, learning observations, and document analysis in the form of teaching modules. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification, while the validity of the data is tested through triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that history teachers have a positive perception of the deep learning approach. Teachers view history learning not only as a process of mastering facts, figures, and chronology of events, but as a process that encourages learning awareness, meaningful understanding, and fun learning experiences through the principles of mindful learning, meaningful learning, and joyful learning. This perception has been reflected in the planning and implementation of learning through the use of collaborative strategies, learning media, contextual activities, and reflection activities. However, the implementation of deep learning is still in the development stage because learning is more oriented towards increasing student involvement than developing historical thinking skills in depth. This research shows that teachers' positive perceptions are an important foundation in the application of deep learning, but strengthening pedagogical competence is needed so that history learning is able to develop students' analytical skills, interpretation, and critical reflection.
