Abstract

Background: During pregnancy, there are usually many complaints or discomforts that usually occur. One of them is back pain that occurs in pregnant women in the third trimester. One of the efforts to overcome back pain complaints is prenatal yoga. Prenatal yoga can flex the muscles around the spine and flex the body. Objective: This study was to determine the effectiveness of prenatal yoga on back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester. Methods: This study uses the design of One Group Pre Test—Posttest using an experimental method. The sample in this study is pregnant women in the third trimester who experience back pain with a sample size of 30 respondents. This sampling was done using the Total Sampling method and the measuring tool used was the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Results: The study showed that before performing Prenatal Yoga in the trimester, most of the respondents experienced moderate pain as many as 21 respondents (73.3%) and 9 respondents (26.7%) had mild pain. Then after doing Prenatal Yoga, there was a decrease in pain which became mild pain as many as 21 respondents (70%), 8 respondents (26.7%) who became no pain and 1 respondent (3.3%) remained moderately painful. The statistical test used in this study was the Wilcoxon test and obtained a significance p value = 0.00 (:0.05) meaning that there was a significant difference in back pain before and after prenatal yoga. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that prenatal yoga techniques can be applied, especially to overcome back pain complaints in pregnant women in the third trimester. Conclusion: Prenatal Yoga can be applied in various health services as one of the non-pharmacological methods and complementary therapies in overcoming complaints that are often felt by pregnant women such as back pain.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious infectious disease that is a public health challenge in Indonesia. The disease is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and has a high rate of transmission, especially in environments with low health awareness. Increasing public knowledge and understanding of the prevention of pulmonary TB is a very important preventive step in reducing the transmission rate. The Community Service Program (PkM) aims to provide information and education to the public about pulmonary TB, including its causes, symptoms, ways of transmission, and prevention efforts. This activity is carried out with a participatory approach through counseling, group discussions, and distribution of health information materials. The main target is vulnerable groups in certain areas that have a high prevalence of pulmonary TB. The implementation method includes three main stages: (1) preparation in the form of identification of needs and development of educational modules, (2) implementation in the form of implementation of counseling sessions and interactive discussions, and (3) evaluation in the form of community knowledge surveys before and after activities. The data was analyzed descriptively to measure changes in the level of public understanding. The results showed a significant increase in public understanding of pulmonary TB, especially related to prevention through a healthy lifestyle, good home ventilation, and the importance of early treatment. The evaluation also revealed the community's commitment to implement the preventive measures that have been conveyed in the activity. In conclusion, information and education through PkM are effective in increasing public awareness and knowledge about the prevention of pulmonary TB. It is hoped that similar activities can continue to be carried out on a sustainable basis to support the national program to eradicate pulmonary TB in Indonesia.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a global health problem that impacts children's growth and development. One of the main factors contributing to stunting is the lack of maternal knowledge about balanced nutrition. Nutrition education is expected to increase mothers' understanding of healthy eating and toddler stunting prevention practices. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of nutrition education on changes in maternal behavior in preventing stunting in toddlers. Materials and Methods: This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach with a control group. The sample consisted of mothers with toddlers, selected by purposive sampling. The intervention group was given nutrition education through counseling media and interactive discussions, while the control group did not receive the intervention. Results: The study showed a significant increase in mothers' knowledge and practice of nutrition after being given nutrition education (p<0.05). In addition, there were substantial differences between the intervention and control groups regarding stunting prevention behavior. Conclusions: Nutrition education has been proven effective in increasing maternal knowledge and behavior and preventing toddler stunting. Therefore, public health programs need to expand nutrition education interventions to reduce stunting incidence.

Abstract

Introduction: Home care is a form of health care that is increasingly needed as the need for long-term care increases and a community-based approach to service. In this context, nurses are important as the main implementers of services in direct contact with patients. However, regulations that regulate home care practices often affect nurses' movement space and professional autonomy in providing optimal services. This study aims to analyze the impact of home care regulations on the independent role of nurses in society. Research Methodology: The method used is qualitative, using literature studies and semi-structured interviews with active nurses in home care practice. Results: Results show that restrictive and unclear regulations limit independent clinical decision-making, create legal uncertainty, and reduce public trust in the professional capacity of nurses. Conversely, supportive regulations can strengthen nurses' independent roles, improve service efficiency, and encourage collaboration between health teams. Conclusion: a balanced policy is needed between legal oversight and empowerment of nurses so that their role in the public health system can be optimized.

Abstract

Background: Breast milk (ASI) production is a common factor and a key determinant in the success of breastfeeding. Many mothers often complain that their breast milk either does not come out or is produced in small quantities. Although breast milk has tremendous benefits, not many mothers are willing or able to provide exclusive breastfeeding for six months. The failure to provide exclusive breastfeeding can be influenced by the lack of nutritional support. Several studies have indicated that papaya (Carica papaya) has the potential as a natural galactagogue that can stimulate breast milk production. The bioactive compounds in papaya, such as the enzyme papain, vitamin A, vitamin C, flavonoids, and other phytochemicals, are known to support metabolism and tissue health, including the mammary glands. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of papaya (Carica papaya L) in increasing breast milk production among breastfeeding mothers at Kauditan Public Health Center, North Minahasa Regency. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-randomized pre-test and post-test approach. A total of 35 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Normality was tested using the Shapiro-Wilk test, which showed that the data were not normally distributed (p < 0.05), so the Wilcoxon test was used. Results: The Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference in breast milk production before and after papaya consumption (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Most mothers produced less than 80 ml of breast milk before the intervention, increasing to 80–150 ml afterward. Variations in milk production were influenced by individual nutritional status; thus, support from husbands and families is essential to meet the nutritional needs of breastfeeding mothers. Conclusion: Papaya is effective in increasing breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers. It is recommended that mothers consume papaya regularly during breastfeeding to help enhance milk production.

Abstract

Data from two puskesmas in Tuban Regency with the number of high-risk pregnant women, namely the Merak Urak Health Center, in 2019-2020 obtained 104 pregnant women, and the Palang Health Center obtained 213 pregnant women. This figure has not reached the target of the 2015 MDGs of 102 per 100,000 live births and the 70 per 100,000 live births of the SDGs target in 2030. The research aims to determine the dominant factors of efforts to prevent high-risk pregnancy in pregnant women through the Family Centered Empowerment theory approach. The research design is a correlational, descriptive, cross-sectional approach. The population of all pregnant women in the working area of the Merak Urak Health Center and the Palang Health Center in Tuban Regency. The sample size uses the rule of thumb in SEM; with the maximum likelihood method, a sample of at least 150 respondents.Data collection using questionnaires was then tabulated in distribution tables and analyzed with uji statistical univariate analysis for frequency and percentage distribution and bivariate analysis with the logistic regression test to analyze the dominant factor. The results of this study are meaningful results on efforts to prevent high-risk pregnancy, namely interpersonal factors (p = 0.000) and cognitive factors (p = 0.002), based on multivariate analysis of dominant factors, which influence prevention efforts in high-risk women. Interpersonal factors are more influential than cognitive factors (OR interpersonal factors > OR cognitive factors). It can be concluded that interpersonal factors can influence the decision to prevent pregnancy.
