Abstract

Abstract

Posttraumatic growth (PTG) refers to positive psychological changes that occur in individuals who have experienced traumatic events, such as nurses battling an underpressure situation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The attempts at measuring PTG are still limited due to the lack of instruments that suit natural variations caused by culture or language adaptation and sampling types. Although there are many studies regarding PTG, no comprehensive review has been found to identify the instrument measuring nurses' posttraumatic growth. Objective: The study aimed to identify research on instruments measuring nurses’ PTG during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Five online databases (PubMed, Wiley Online Library, Proquest, Science Direct, and Google Scholar) were put under analysis to identify studies that report information on instruments measuring nurses’ PTG. Only studies published between 2020-2024 were involved in the analysis. The selection process was done using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA). Results: From the identification process, authors found 6,589 articles and after going through the screening and eligibility stages 24 studies were included in this review. Exploring PTG among nurses involves examining how they reflect upon and derive meaning from their experiences during challenging circumstances. Several instruments to measure PTG among nurses were identified, inter alia, Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI), Posttraumatic Growth Inventory Chinese versions (PTGI-C), Posttraumatic Growth Inventory-Expanded (PTGI-X), Posttraumatic Growth Inventory-Short Form (PTGI-SF), and Turkish, Polish, and Korean versions of PTGI. Conclusion: In general, the original version of PTGI has been adapted and translated into several languages to measure PTG among nurses during the COVID outbreak.

Abstract

The transition of care from hospital to home is a critical period for patients, especially those with chronic conditions such as heart failure. During the transition period, patients often experience difficulties managing their disease, which can lead to an increased risk of rehospitalization. This literature review aims to analyze scientific evidence about the effectiveness of transitional care interventions in improving the quality of health care in hospitals, especially for patients with chronic conditions. The method of this study is a literature review. This study used electronic databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar. The selected articles are quantitative research articles published within the last 5 years available in full text and not the result of a review. The results of the review show that transitional care interventions have a significant positive impact on the quality of health care. This intervention can increase self-management, treatment adherence and patient satisfaction with heart failure. Some components of effective interventions include patient education, care coordination, outpatient follow up and social support. Transitional care interventions are an effective strategy to improve the quality of health care, especially in patients with chronic conditions. The implementation of a comprehensive transitional care program in hospitals needs to continue to be improved to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

The measurement of spiritual care competence is a crucial aspect of healthcare, particularly in nursing and mental health settings, where holistic care is emphasized to achieve well-being for patients, especially those with terminal conditions. However, determining the appropriate instrument to measure spiritual care competence in nurses is not an easy task. This study aims to identify the most suitable instruments for measuring spiritual care competence in nurses in Indonesia. The method used in this study is a literature review. The keywords used to search for relevant journals are "Nurse" AND "Competence" AND "Spiritual Care." The researcher utilized the Scopus, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and ProQuest databases. The journals included in the review are limited to those published in the last five years over the period from 2020 to 2024 and written in English. Initially, 2,301 journal articles were identified; following a screening and elimination process, 12 articles were selected as suitable for inclusion in this research. This study identified 2,301 journals, which were subsequently filtered for duplicates, irrelevant content, and interventions, resulting in 12 relevant journals. The review found that the instruments used to measure nurses' competence in spiritual care included the Spiritual Care Competence Scale (SCCS), the Spirituality and Spiritual Care Assessment Scale (SSCAS), the Spiritual Care Rating Scale (SSCRS), and the Spiritual Care-Giving Scale (SCGS). This review indicates that the variation in the use of instruments to measure nurses' competence in providing spiritual care is due to differences in respondent characteristics, as well as variations in beliefs and cultures.

Abstract

The Primary Nursing Care Model (PNCM) aims to enhance continuity of care, nurse autonomy, and therapeutic nurse-patient relationships. While widely implemented, its outcomes vary across settings, requiring a comprehensive assessment of its broader impact on nursing outcomes. This scoping review examines the influence of PNCM on patient care quality, nurse competence, and patient satisfaction in diverse healthcare environments. This study aims to explore and analyze the impact of PNCM on nursing outcomes, focusing on patient care quality, nurse competence, and patient satisfaction. Additionally, it seeks to identify existing research gaps and provide insights into the model’s effectiveness across different healthcare settings. A systematic search was conducted in ProQuest, ScienceDirect, and PubMed for studies published between January 2020 and December 2024. From 880 identified articles, 212 underwent full-text screening, and 15 met the final inclusion criteria based on the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) framework. The review focuses on studies involving nurses and patients in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community healthcare settings where PNCM is implemented. Key outcomes assessed include patient care quality, nurse competence, and patient satisfaction. PNCM enhances nursing outcomes by strengthening nurse-patient relationships, improving competence, and fostering a safety culture. It reduces care fragmentation, increases nurse accountability, and promotes holistic care. However, research gaps persist in evaluating long-term outcomes and its application to vulnerable populations. PNCM is effective in improving nursing outcomes and patient satisfaction. Further research should explore its long-term impact and adaptation for underserved populations to optimize its benefits.

Abstract

Introduction: Work fatigue is a risk for all workers, including nurses, who are constantly working to help meet patient needs. The effects of work fatigue when providing nursing care to patients can have an impact on reducing the quality of work so that it can impact patient satisfaction in receiving services. The aims of the study are to determine the factors that cause work fatigue in nurses after the COVID-19 vaccination program. Method: This research used an observational design with a descriptive-analytical approach. The location of this research is hospitals in Jember with a population of nurses who work in hospital inpatient rooms using a simple random sampling technique. The total number of respondents obtained was 165 nurses. The research instrument used in data collection was the Job Fatigue Feelings Questionnaire, which had been modified from KAUPK2 and consisted of 17 question items. Statistical analysis in this research uses a constant comparative method. Results: Based on the demographic data of respondents as an item from the analysis of nurses' work fatigue, it was found that age, education, and working period influence the level of work fatigue (p=0.01; p=0.04; p=0.04) while gender, marriage, employment, and position didn’t influence the work fatigue of nurses (p=0.82; p=0.93; p=0.14; p=0.48). Conclusion: Work fatigue can affect the performance of nurses. The most influencing factors were age, education, and working period, while marital status, employment, nursing position in work, and gender did not influence the level of work fatigue of nurses.

Abstract

Interprofessional collaboration (IPC) is cooperation between health professionals who work together to solve health problems, provide medical services, and achieve common goals. In the health sector, 70-80% of errors are due to poor communication and understanding within the team. In Indonesia, one result of the lack of coordination between medical personnel is the high error rate in prescribing drugs, which is up to 98.69%. Communication in the application of IPC is a very important factor that contributes to patient safety and the quality of health services so that it will form a good hospital image. Barriers to professional cooperation can be a major cause of medical errors, treatment errors, or other unforeseen events. The purpose of this study was to analyze interprofessional collaboration in the care of patients with Diabetes Mellitus. The results of the case study show that the role of the health team in collaboration in nursing care has been implemented but has not been optimal. The implementation of IPC has not been optimally implemented because there are several obstacles such as the lack of communication between professions, none of the team members have participated in the application of IPC in health services, and stereotypes from one profession to another. So it is necessary to increase teamwork between health professionals, so that collaboration can be established optimally

Abstract

Nurse caring behavior is essential for the quality of healthcare services and patient well-being, yet several internal and external factors influence this behavior. This study analyzes the effects of work rewards, workload, motivation, and personality on nurses’ caring behavior. This cross-sectional study used a quantitative approach. Data were collected from 217 nurses in hospitals using structured questionnaires measuring variables of work rewards, workload, motivation, personality, and caring behavior. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The findings show that motivation has the most significant influence on caring behavior (β = 0.45, p < 0.01), followed by work rewards (β = 0.30, p < 0.01) and personality (β = 0.20, p < 0.01). Workload has a significant negative effect (β = -0.28, p < 0.01). An R-squared value of 0.65 indicates that these four variables can explain 65% of the variability in caring behavior. These findings support Gibson’s theory that environmental factors (work rewards, workload) and individual factors (motivation, personality) affect caring behavior. Motivation and work rewards drive caring behavior, while a high workload hinders it. Policies that enhance motivation and work rewards, along with balanced workload management, are necessary to support caring behavior in nurses Keywords: Caring behavior, Work rewards, Workload, Motivation, Personality.
