Abstract

Sigupai rice, Indonesia local aromatic rice varieties grown in South-West region of Aceh, is highly valued for its fragrance and quality, making it susceptible to adulteration. This study compares the performance of two portable Near-infrared (NIR) devices, SCiO and NeoSpectra, for rapid authentication of Sigupai rice. We evaluated 86 samples for qualitative analysis (i.e. authentic vs adulterated rice) and 44 samples for quantitative analysis (i.e. the level of adulteration). For the qualitative analysis using partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), the best estimation model could differentiate authentic and adulterated samples with an accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and false positive rates of 89.29%, 92.86%, 85.71% and 14.29% for the NeoSpectra and 97.44%, 100%, 94.87%, and 5.13% for the SCiO, respectively at the validation stage. For quantitative analysis using partial least squares-regression (PLS-R), the best estimation model could estimate the level of adulteration with a coefficient of determination (R²), RMSEP, RPD, and consistency values of 0.92, 1.50%, 5.93 and 100.69% for the NeoSpectra and 0.96, 1.31%, 6.83 and 104.78% for the SCiO. Both portable NIR devices could be used as a rapid analysis tool for the authenticity of Sigupai rice with high accuracy. However, in this study the SCiO device showed a better performance. Keywords: Portable NIR device, Authentication, Aromatic rice, Rapid analysis, Sigupai variety.

Abstract

Blood transfusions no longer provide all the blood components but only provide the necessary blood components. We aim to determine whether there is a comparison of hemolysis events and hematocrit quality in leucodepleted (In Line) and leucodepleted (Bedsite) clinical transfusions. This study was an analytic study with a cross-sectional design to compare hemolysis events and hematocrit quality in leucodepleted (In Line) and leucodepleted (Bedsite) clinical transfusions. We obtained sample data in this study divided into 2 groups, namely the group with leucodepleted in line and the group with leucodepleted bedsite inclusion and exclusion criteria of 58 samples. We found that the incidence of hemolysis after leucodepleted (in line) was 0% and leucodepleted (bedsite) was 0.02%, where the standard percentage of blood hemolysis was <0.8%, the hemolysis incident after the production of the two products was very small. While the hematocrit before and after leucodepleted decreased by 35.91% in leucodepleted (in line) and 33.33% in leucodepleted (bedsite). There is a comparison of the incidence of leucodepleted (In Line) and leucodepleted (Bedsite) hemolysis. Where the incidence of leucodepleted (in line) hemolysis is not found, so the leucodepleted (in line) blood component has good quality. There is a comparison of the quality of leucodepleted (In Line) and leucodepleted (Bedsite) hematocrit.

Abstract

-Sapodilla is a climacteric fruit that widely cultivated in tropical areas, so proper post-harvest handling is required. Natural ripening results in uneven levels of fruit ripeness. The proper ripening techniques can control fruit ripeness uniformly. This study aims to known the effect of traditional ripening methods on the percentage of weight loss and physical changes, including color and texture of sapodilla fruit. The ripening techniques used were: 1. sunlight, 2. soaked in rice, 3. wrapped in linen, and 4. wrapped in paper. Ripening was carried out for 5 days, and observations were made on days 0, 1, 3, and 5 for weight loss, color, and texture. Based on the results, the traditional ripening method significantly affected the percentage of fruit weight loss and affected color and texture during the ripening process. The rate of weight loss on the fifth day of observation from highest to lowest was sunlight treatment (10.68%), linen (10.31%), paper (9.31%), and rice (8.12%). Changes in color and firmness began to occur on the first day of ripening using linen and rice. The linen and rice ripening treatment produced the sapodilla with the fastest ripening rate, as observed in the color and firmness of the sapodilla fruit after five days of ripening.
