Abstract

The very high acidity of peat soil is mainly caused by high H+ concentration that can change the base cation likeK , Na+, Ca+ and Mg2+ from mineral/rock structure. The research was conducted in laboratory of the Departement ofSoil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB. Peat soils at hemic degree of decomposition level were taken from Riau. Rockphosphates in this research (P and Fe sources) were the rock phosphates of Huinan China, Christmas Island and PTPetrokimia Gresik the content 32,65; 31,28 and 25,02% of P 2 O 5 and 2,28; 11,19 and 18,72% of R 2 O 3 (Fe 2 O 3 + Al 2 O 3 )respectively. The aims of the research were to study the changes of the forms of readily labile inorganic-P and organic-P,moderately labile inorganic-P and organic-P and non labile organic-P in peats after being incubated with rockphosphates. The results showed that the application of rock phosphates in peat soil increased the readily of labileinorganic-P and organic-P, moderately inorganic-P and organic-P, and non labile P forms. An increase of non labile Pand moderately labile P were higher dye to the R 2 O 3 content of rock phosphates became higher in saturated and fieldcapacity condition. The results also showed that the rock phosphates applied to the peat soil released P in a very highamounts, in the order of rock phosphates of Huinan China > Christmas Island > PT Petrokimia Gresik. Released P wasdetermined by water extraction which increased with the periods of incubation with the similar pattern on the three typesof rock phosphates.

Abstract

Research applications straw and rice husk as ameliorant on peat soil to improve the growth and production ofsoybean in the peat soil was conducted from April to August 2012, at green house of the Faculty of Agriculture,University of Islamic of Indragiri. The objective was to get the best composition application ameliorant straw and ricehusk on peat soil on the growth and production of soybean. The experiment was used the completely randomized designwith a single factor consisting of 8 treatments (control, 3 tons.ha -1 of AJP, 3 tons.ha-1 of ASP, 3 tons.ha-1 of KJP, 2 tons.ha-1 of KJP + 1 tons.ha-1 of AJP, 2 tons.ha-1 of KJP + 1 tons.ha-1 of ASP, 1 tons.ha-1 of KJP + 1 tons.ha-1 of AJP and 1 tons.ha-1 of KJP + 1 tons.ha-1 of ASP) with 3 replications. Observations of each parameter analysis of variance (F test) and thedifference in treatment was continued with DNMRT (Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test) at 5% level. The results showedgranting ameliorant 3 tons.ha-1 of AJP can improve plant growth in terms of height that 51.16% (145.75 cm), ratio of theroot crown (4.86 g) dry stover weight of 1232.59% (24.12 g) soybean crop production, including number of 272.72% ofpods per plant, number of seeds per plant and seed weight 335.87% 333.23% dry. compared with no treatment.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was determine how the effect of lands use change from natural forest to plantationforest Acacia crassicarpa on some physical properties and chemical properties of peat soil. The research conducted inthe PT. BBHA, Bukit Batu Subdistrict, Bengkalis Regency, and Laboratory of Soil Science Agriculture Faculty, RiauUniversity. The research was conducted by survey method, with purposive sampling. Data was analysed by descriptiveand graphics model. The parameters were particle size distribution, bulk density, particle density, porosity, pH, organiccarbon, total nitrogen, total phosphor and base cations (K, Ca, Mg and Na). The result of research show that land usechange from natural forest to plantation forest Acacia crassicarpa was increasing total of smalles particle, bulk density, and particle density, while the porosity decreases. Then the increasing were pH, total nitrogen, total phosphor, and basecations K, Ca, Mg, Na is fluctuative, whereas for organic carbon was linierly. The longer time of land use change wasincreasing the decomposition of peat soil, which improves the physical properties and chemical properties of peat soil.

Abstract

The research aims to study the effect of empty fruit bunches  of palm oil compost (EFBPOC) which is enriched with palm oil bunch ash (POBA), palm oil mill effluent (POME), and Trichoderma on the growth and yield of soybean as a crop on the sidelines of the young palm oil plantations in peatlands. The Study Research using randomized block design (RBD) consisting of 6 treatments ie: without EFBPOC; 5 tons/ha EFBPOC; 5 tons/ha EFBPOC + 100 l/ha POME + 0.2 kg/ha of Trichoderma; 5 tons/ha EFBPOC + 0.5 tons/ha OPBA + 100 L/ha POME + 0.2 kg/ha Trichoderma; 5 tons/ha EFBPOC + 1 tons/ha OPBA + 100 L/ha POME + 0.2 kg/ha of Trichoderma; 5 tons / ha EFBPOC + 1.5 tons/ha OPBA + 100 L/ha of POME+ 0.2 kg / ha of Trichoderma and 3 reflications. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (F test) and continued with DNMRT (Duncan s New Multiple Range Test ) at 5% level. The results showed EFBPOC without enrichment and enriched with 100 l/ha  POME + 0.2 kg/ha trichoderma and the addition of 0.5 up to 1.5 tons/ha OPBA able to increase plant height, number of primary branches, days to flowering, number of pods, the percentage of pithy pods, seed weight at plot and a dry weight of 100 seeds of soybeans grown on the young oil palm plantations on peatlands, wich all soybeans planted without EFBPOC have dead at 3 month after planted. Giving 5 tons/ha EFBPOC + 1 ton/ha OPBA + 100 l/ha POME + 0.2 kg/ha of Trichoderma provides the highest seed weight is 239.60 g/m2 (2.40 tonnes/ha).
