Abstract

This research explored the effectiveness of integrating podcasts into group discussions to enhance students’ ability to write discussion texts. Despite the recognized importance of writing for academic success, many students found it challenging to construct well-organized and coherent argumentative essays due to a lack of engagement and limited exposure to diverse perspectives. To overcome this issue, a six-week intervention was conducted involving thirty-three eleventh-grade students at SMA N 1 Cepiring, employing a one-group pre-test and post-test experimental design. The influence of the combined use of podcasts and group discussion was measured through paired-samples t-tests, comparing students’ writing performance before and after the intervention. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ skills in producing logically structured and cohesive discussion texts following the treatment.

Abstract

The study is aimed to evaluate how well the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method work as a framework for enhancing students’ reading skills of recount text at 8 grade of SMPN 37 Semarang. This study was conducted using a simple research method that compared the pre-test and post-test outcoes of 8 grade students at SMPN 37 Semarang, and was carried out in four stages; planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The results and learning observations are among the outcomes of this study. The Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method was proven to be useful in enhancing students’ reading abilities based on the research’s findings. The test’s average score increased, and more pupils met the established criteria (KKM), according to the data. Pre test average are 71,90 and 62 % KKM achievement, and post-test averages are 84 and 85% KKM achievement. In addition, students also showed improvement in their reading ability and critical thinking, as seen in the learning observations by the teacher. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method can be an effective alternative way to improve students’ reading comprehension in recount text at 8 grade of SMPN 37 Semarang; it is recommended for English teachers to consider take of this strategy in teaching recount text at junior high school.

Abstract

?é?á Abstrak ?é?á IbM ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan RA Al Hikmah Kecamatan Gayamsari dan RA Al Muta?óÔé¼Ôäóalimin Kecamatan Tembalang sebagai model sekolah ramah anak berbasis 3Ps (Provision, Protection, dan Participation). Sasaran IbM adalah 2 Kepala Sekolah mitra, dan 17 guru, dan orang tua peserta didik. Bentuk kegiatanya adalah 1) sosialisasi pengelolaan sekolah dan pendidikan ramah anak berbasis 3P; 2) membangun komitmen bersama antara kepala sekolah, guru, dan orang tua murid; 3) Pelatihan pengelolaan sekolah dan proses belajar mengajar?é?á berperspektif ?é?áramah ?é?áanak; ?é?á4) ?é?áParenting; ?é?á5) ?é?áPenyusunan ?é?áprogram ?é?ásekolah ?é?ádan program pembelajaran; 6) Implementasi program; 7) Monitoring dan Evaluasi. ?é?áPendampingan dilakukan pada setiap tahapan. Abstract

This research aims to discover the altruistic actions performed by Shoya Ishida in the film Koe no Katachi. This study also aims to determine whether altruistic actions can explain educational values. This research is qualitative. The research data is from Shoya Ishida's altruistic actions in the film Koe no Katachi. Data collection techniques using documentation. At the same time, data analysis is done by collecting, reducing, presenting, and drawing conclusions. The study's results stated that Shoya Ishida had carried out altruistic actions that impacted the growth of his friends. This altruistic action can be used as an example of a simple action that can change the lives of others, especially the educational process. The research results also show how important it is to listen and be heard, have empathy, and act to help others and yourself by truly taking action to spread and pursue knowledge so that others can share the same understanding and the same vision to improve humanity as a whole and support each other for the greater good.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the impact of targeted instructional technique on students' paragraph writing abilities. The primary objective is to determine whether implementing Major Supporting Sentence (MASS) and Minor Supporting Sentence (MISS) techniques can significantly enhance the completeness of students' paragraph writing. The research employs a pre-experimental design, involving a one-group pre-test and post-test approach to assess the effectiveness of the treatment. Initially, students’ paragraph writing abilities were evaluated via a pre-test, which established a baseline for their competencies across various writing dimensions. The subsequent treatment, which included explicit instruction in placing MASS and MISS within paragraph writing. Post-treatment analysis revealed a significant enhancement in students' abilities to organize and articulate their thoughts in writing. The results indicated that the implementation of MASS and MISS not only improved the depth of their content but also the overall coherence and flow of their paragraphs. Statistical analysis demonstrated a substantial increase in post-test scores compared to pre-test scores, suggesting that the instructional techniques effectively addressed the weaknesses previously observed in student writing. Moreover, the effectiveness of the MASS and MISS techniques illustrates the potential for structured approaches to transform students' writing experiences

Abstract

Perubahan paradigma asesmen nasional melalui implementasi Tes Kemampuan Akademik (TKA) menuntut kesiapan guru Bahasa Inggris SMA dalam memahami asesmen berbasis literasi, numerasi, dan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Observasi awal di Kabupaten Brebes menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar guru masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami struktur TKA, menganalisis level kognitif soal, memilih stimulus yang tepat, serta menyusun instrumen asesmen yang valid dan reliabel. Kondisi ini berpotensi menghambat kesiapan siswa menghadapi asesmen nasional. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan utama: pelatihan konseptual tentang kebijakan TKA dan HOTS, workshop analisis soal, serta pendampingan penyusunan soal dengan pendekatan iterative mentoring. Kegiatan dilakukan secara luring dan daring untuk memastikan keberlanjutan pembelajaran. Luaran program meliputi peningkatan literasi asesmen guru, tersusunnya modul pelatihan TKA Bahasa Inggris, dokumen analisis soal, serta bank soal TKA berisi 30–38 butir soal yang tervalidasi. Secara keseluruhan, program ini memberikan solusi aplikatif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi asesmen guru dan mendukung kesiapan siswa menghadapi TKA di Kabupaten Brebes.
