Abstract

Several areas on Bangka and Belitung Islands are located in tin mining conflict zones. Therefore, it is feared that this will threaten the existence of fish resources in mangrove forest areas. The objectives of this study are: 1) To analyze the perceptions of local communities for mangrove resources on Bangka and Belitung Islands, and 2) To assess the sustainable potential of fish resources in mangrove forest areas on Bangka and Belitung Islands. This research method is a survey method. The determination of the research location was purposive, namely six coastal villages that have mangrove forests and are tin mining conflict areas, namely three villages on Bangka Island, including Kota Waringin Village, Kota Kapur Village and Sungaiselan Village, and three villages on Belitung Island, including Gantung Village, Lassar Village and Buding Village. The population in this study were traditional fishermen, community leaders, and village government as informants totaling 60 people. Data collection methods in this study include primary data and secondary data. Primary data collection used questionnaires, in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. Secondary data collection through literature studies. The data analysis method used is exploratory descriptive method. The results of the study, the perception of traditional fishermen towards fish resources in the mangrove forest area on Bangka and Belitung Islands in the Good category, and 2) The sustainable potential of fish resources in the mangrove forest area on Bangka and Belitung Islands using the Schafer model with the CYP technique (Clarck, Yoshimoto, Pooley) shows that the optimal catch results based on Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) of 271,95 tons.

Abstract

The coastal area in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province has high mangrove biodiversity withan area of 67,386 Ha. The purpose of the study was to examine the social, economic, andcultural aspects of the coastal communities of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. Theresearch method was a survey. Data collection consisted of primary and secondary data.Primary data were obtained directly from in-depth interviews with 129 informants from 13coastal villages determined purposively on Bangka Island and Belitung Island. Primary datacollection used questionnaires, observation and documentation. Secondary data were obtainedfrom the village office and related agencies. The results of the study, the social conditions ofthe community include PLN electricity sources, the main source of water for the community iswell water, the transportation route is land transportation, public facilities include mosques,prayer rooms, soccer fields, volleyball courts, village libraries and the main signal towers areTelkomsel and Indosat. The religion practiced by the majority of the community is Islam. Thetypes of work of the coastal village community recorded consist of educators, medicalpersonnel, midwives, traders, fishermen, self-employed, unemployed and others. Economicconditions include district/city GRDP, namely the highest GRDP value in Bangka Regency in2023 of IDR 11,756,196 million and the lowest in East Belitung Regency of IDR 6,211,049million. Local wisdom or culture in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province includes: Maulid,Ruahan, Isra miraj, nisfu syaban, Satu Muharram, Rebo kasan, Peh Cun and Perang Ketupat.Public perception of the existence of mangrove forests and unconventional mining in coastalareas is in the Good category, while community participation in mangroverehabilitation/protection and coastal community preferences related to the economy that theywant to develop are in the Medium category. The economic preferences that they want todevelop are fish, shrimp and crab cultivation, fish processing such as kemplang and shrimppaste, nipah crafts and mangrove tourism.
