Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of differentiated instruction and learning motivation on elementary school students’ learning outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), within the context of instructional practices aligned with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum. A quantitative quasi-experimental design with a 2×2 factorial model was employed to analyze the main and interaction effects of instructional approach and learning motivation. The participants were 46 sixth-grade students from two elementary schools, consisting of an experimental group taught using differentiated instruction and a control group taught using conventional instructional methods. Data were collected through a learning outcomes test and a learning motivation questionnaire and analyzed using Two-Way ANOVA at a significance level of 0.05. The results indicated that students who received differentiated instruction achieved significantly higher learning outcomes than those who received conventional instruction. Learning motivation also had a significant effect, with highly motivated students demonstrating better academic achievement. However, no significant interaction effect was found between instructional approach and learning motivation, suggesting that differentiated instruction is more effective in improving learning outcomes regardless of students’ motivation levels. These findings provide empirical evidence supporting the implementation of differentiated instruction in IPAS learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Scientific work skills are used to build physics knowledge correctly and logically. which can be developed through practical activities. However, not all schools have adequate practical equipment. Observations show that SMA Islam Diponegoro still does not have a physics laboratory and experimental equipment is still limited in number and type, so practical activities are rarely carried out, which has an impact on students' scientific work skills that have not developed optimally. Therefore, community service activities were carried out in the form of Open Lab, which aims to provide students with experience in conducting practicals through concrete practical media and virtual PhET. Community service activities were carried out in the form of training and mentoring for practicals attended by 20 students. Based on the results of the scientific work ability assessment rubric, it was found that students' abilities were in the good category with an average scientific work ability score of 75.35. Indicators of scientific work ability that developed very well after the practicum were observation, implementation of the practicum, and presentation of results. However, aspects of data analysis and evaluation still need to be improved because the scores were lower than other indicators.

Abstract

This study explores the concept of sound waves in the making and playing of Yogyakarta gamelan through a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) learning approach, addressing the urgent need for scientific documentation amid the declining sustainability of this cultural heritage. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a case study design, the research examines the material composition, forging techniques, and acoustic properties of gamelan, incorporating insights from four experienced gamelan craftsmen and a gamelan practitioner (wiyaga) in Yogyakarta. Findings reveal that the optimal bronze composition (a 77:23 copper-tin ratio) and traditional manufacturing processes significantly influence sound characteristics, such as sustain, harmonic richness, and tonal depth, aligning with principles of material physics (Young's modulus, density, and damping coefficient) and vibration mechanics. Despite practitioners' reliance on empirical knowledge, their techniques demonstrate an implicit understanding of STEM concepts, particularly in tuning and sound optimization. However, a disconnect remains between scientific terminology and traditional practice, highlighting the need for culturally sensitive STEM integration in gamelan education. The study concludes that a holistic STEM approach can bridge scientific and cultural perspectives, supporting both the preservation of Yogyakarta gamelan and innovative educational models. Recommendations include STEM-based training for artisans and further research on alternative materials while preserving traditional sound aesthetics.

Abstract

This study aims to identify student learner profiles based on a combination of prior knowledge and Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) levels and to analyze the differential impact of an adaptive learning module on knowledge and SRL improvement in each profile. Using a mixed-methods explanatory sequential design, 92 undergraduate physics education students were selected through purposive sampling. K-Means cluster analysis was applied to form learner profiles, followed by a six-week pre–post intervention and qualitative interviews. The results identified three learner profiles (Proficient-Autonomous Learner, Resilient-Developing Learner, and Proficient-Fragile Achiever). The result showed that the adaptive module significantly improved Results showed significant knowledge gains across profiles, while SRL improvements differed significantly. The Proficient–Fragile Achiever group demonstrated the largest SRL gain (p < .001; large effect size, d > 0.80), associated with more frequent scaffolding support. In conclusion, the effectiveness of adaptive modules is highly dependent on learner profiles, with the most significant benefits in their ability to provide external support for building self-regulation skills. These findings imply that learning technology design should incorporate SRL as a key variable for personalization, and institutions can utilize these platforms as intervention tools for students with weak learning independence.

Abstract

This service aims to improve the economy and independence of the creative industries of people with disabilities. The creative industry is a printing and screen printing business owned by partners, namely people with disabilities, especially people who are deaf or hard of hearing and speech impaired. People with disabilities generally find it challenging to get access to funds because their limitations make it difficult to gain trust from the industry. The method offered in implementing this service is transferring science and technology for business development through discussions, guidance, sewing t-shirts and bags, marketing management training, and partner mentoring. Results from questionnaires and partner interviews show that understanding, skills, independence, and the number of products made have increased. In real terms, this service program has succeeded in increasing the turnover of partners. This phenomenon is because partners can receive screen printing and sewing totes and mug accessories simultaneously without going from second-hand (totes and accessories are no longer ordered by other tailors). Thus, this service can help the creative industries of people with hearing and speech impairments become more independent in their society.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology requires elementary school students to possess adequate digital literacy skills to access, comprehend, and utilize information effectively in the learning process. However, observations in several elementary schools in Pasean District revealed that many students still struggle to use technology optimally, accompanied by low learning independence and insufficiently supportive learning environments. Based on these issues, this study aims to analyze the influence of digital literacy, learning environment, and learning independence on students’ science and social studies (IPAS) learning outcomes in grade V at elementary schools in Pasean District, Pamekasan Regency. This research employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative method. A total of 140 students were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through valid and reliable questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS 22. The results showed that digital literacy, learning environment, and learning independence simultaneously had a significant effect on students’ learning outcomes (R² = 0.864). Partially, each variable also had a significant effect with significance values of 0.023 for digital literacy, 0.003 for learning environment, and 0.000 for learning independence. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening digital literacy, creating a supportive learning environment, and fostering students’ learning independence to improve IPAS learning outcomes in elementary schools.
