Abstract

Covid-19 can affect everyone including infants, children, adults, and the elderly. However, people with the highest risk factors are the elderly. The purpose of this service activity is to provide health education about Covid-19 and ways to prevent its spread to the elderly and their families. The methods used are lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. Counseling material about the definition of covid-19, the causes and methods of transmission of the corona virus, symptoms of covid-19, and how to prevent covid-19 with 3M. The counseling begins with a pretest and ends with a posttest. After being given counseling, the level of knowledge of residents about preventing the transmission of Covid-19 with 3M increased from where previously there were only 5 people (33%) who had good knowledge, after being given counseling increased to 12 people (80%).

Abstract

Management of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) aims to improve the quality of life for DM sufferers and reduce the risk of acute complications. Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) is a process that facilitates knowledge, skills, and abilities in self-care for DM patients based on evidence-based research. This activity aims to increase DM sufferers' knowledge and health status at Parangloe Health Center, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. The methods used are lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. The DSME administration was carried out in three sessions with 45 minutes and carried out diabetic foot gym training. Besides, the blood sugar level is checked at any time. The results achieved were an increase in knowledge of DM sufferers by 63.4% regarding definitions, classifications, signs and symptoms, risk factors, DM complications, diet, physical exercise, types and benefits of drugs given, foot care, and 96% being able to do foot exercises for diabetic. Also, there was an increase in the understanding and skills of cadres about DM self-care management. DM patients are also expected to check their blood glucose regularly and use the DM Self-Care Manual that has been provided.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Trauma kapitis atau cedera kepala dapat menyebabkan deformitas, penurunan kualitas hidup, dan bahkan kematian. Hal ini berdampak pada emosional, sosial dan kemampuan dalam pemenuhan kegiatan sehari-hari.Tujuan: Mengetahui gambaran kualitas hidup berdasarkan Quality of Life after Brain Injury (QOLIBRI) dan World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL) pada pasien trauma kapitis di RS Bhayangkara Makassar.Metode: Desain penelitian deskriptif dengan teknik accidental sampling pada 44 pasien yang datang di poliklinik RS Bhayangkara Makassar pada Agustus hingga September 2019.Hasil: Berdasarkan QOLIBRI, kualitas hidup tertinggi berada pada aspek hubungan sosial, yaitu sebesar 43 responden (97,7%) dan kualitas hidup terendah berada pada aspek perasaan, yaitu sebesar 28 responden (63,6%), sedangkan berdasarkan WHOQOL, kualitas hidup tertinggi berada pada aspek hubungan sosial, yaitu sebesar 42 responden (95,5%) dan kualitas hidup terendah berada pada aspek psikologis, yaitu 12 responden (27,3%).Kesimpulan: Kualitas hidup berdasarkan QOLIBRI tinggi dari segi aspek hubungan sosial dan rendah dari segi aspek perasaan, sedangkan kualitas hidup berdasarkan WHOQOL tinggi dari segi aspek hubungan sosial dan rendah dari segi aspek psikologis. Diharapkan pasien memperbaiki komunikasi dengan keluarga dan lingkungan sekitar serta memperbaiki pola hidup sehat agar responden tidak mengalami kesepian atau depresi.

Abstract

Introduction. Stroke is a disorder of local or extensive brain function that occurs suddenly and quickly, can cause death without other causes except blood vessels. Obesity is known as one of the causes of hypertension and stroke. Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple tool or way to monitor the nutritional status of adults, especially those related to underweight and overweight. The purpose of this study was to determine the analysis of the picture of collaboration between health workers in reducing the weight of patients with ischemic stroke in Makassar City General Hospital. Method. This research uses descriptive design. Samples were taken using purposive sampling with 10 stroke patients who had BMI > 25. Research methods with observation and interviews. The instrument uses an observation sheet containing demographic data, measurements of blood pressure, weight, and height. Results. Health worker collaboration in reducing stroke patients' weight is more towards health education to patients and families. Health education in the form of a recommended diet such as high fiber, low salt, adequate mineral water intake, and increase physical activity, if there are no contraindications to medical diagnosis by a doctor. Discussion. Weight loss requires a process and the changes are not immediately visible in a short time, depending on the length of day of hospital stay, so that consistency in diet and physical activity is needed when at home. Keywords: health worker, weight, stroke patients

Abstract

Practice self-care in diabetic patients by eating a healthy diet, medication, blood glucose, and physical exercise for optimal health. This study aims to see the relationship between the level of knowledge and self-care in diabetes mellitus patients at the Puskesmas Tamamaung, Makassar City. This study used an analytic survey design with a cross sectional study approach. Determination of the sample using purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 41 respondents. The relationship test was performed using the Fisher Exact Test statistical test with a significance level of α 0.05. The results showed that patients with diabetes mellitus had 51.2% high knowledge, 36.6% moderate knowledge, and 12.2% low knowledge. In addition, patients with high self-care were 83% and low self-care was 17%. The conclusion of this study is that there is no relationship between knowledge and self-care in diabetes mellitus patients at the Puskesmas Tamamaung Makassar City (ρ = 0.347). Patient knowledge needs to be improved with regular health education, so that patients understand optimal diabetes mellitus self-care practices. Keywords:  Diabetes Mellitus, Level of Knowledge, Self Care

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between tension and duration of ARV administration with CD4 levels in patients with HIV / AIDS. The type of research used is quantitative research with an analytical approach, and a cross sectional study design. The subjects of the study were 78 HIV / AIDS patients at the Jumpandang Baru Health Center in Makassar City who were selected by purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed by correlational methods to assess significance (p), direction (+/-) and correlation strength (r). The research instrument used a questionnaire and CD4 laboratory results. Based on the Spearman’ rho test it was found that there was a positive and weak correlation between regularity and duration of ARV therapy with CD4 levels of HIV / AIDS patients with a value of p <0.05; (r + 0.340 and r + 2.22). That is, the more regular and long time patients to get ARV therapy will be increase the CD4 level of the patients. Antiretroviral Therapy is very effective in increasing CD4 levels or immunity status of patients with HIV / AIDS, so it is recommended that patients be more orderly and patient in undergoing a therapy program and the publick health is more supportive of patients in managing the therapy provided.

Abstract

Family Medicinal Plants (abbreviated TOGA) are home-grown plants that have medicinal properties. The family medicine garden land is essentially a plot of land, both in the yard, garden or field that is used to cultivate medicinal plants as medicine in order to meet the family's needs for medicines. Partner problems found include lack of family knowledge and public awareness about the use of TOGA and optimizing the use of family medicinal plant land, lack of TOGA books as a reference in making TOGA ingredients and lack of clues about names and the benefits of each TOGA. Implementation of services that have been carried out in the form of providing counselin about TOGA, provision and planting of TOGA seedlings, making plant labels and procurement of TOGA books both in the pilot area of the Pangkajene Community Health Center in Pangkep district as well as in a number of pilot areas of residents and their respective residents lands. In conclusion, increased knowledge and skills of families in utilizing family medicinal plants, availability of 100 TOGA seeds for residents and health centre, the creation of a pilot TOGA land at the Pangkajene City Health Centre and the availability of TOGA books at the Pangkajene City Health Centre. Recommendations the need for periodic monitoring of the sustainability of the pilot TOGA at the Pangkajene City Health Centre and those distributed to residents and the pilot TOGA should be added to other plants besides the seeds distributed by the service team. Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease and a serious health problem in various countries that require selfcare management. Dealing with hypertensive patients requires compliance with their self-care to improve health status. Research  aimed to  determine the relationship of self-efficacy and  blood pressure in patients with hypertension at Makassar Regional General Hospital. It used cross sectional study design. The technique of determining the sample by using a purposivel sampling technique with a sample size of 53 people. The relationship test was carried out using Chi-square test with significance level ? 0.05. The results of this study showed that there were 17 patients with good self-efficacy, of which 10 (58,8%) pre hypertension and 7 (41,2%) had high blood pressure. Whereas there were 36 patients whose self-efficacy was lacking, of which 6 (16,7%) had pre hypertension and 30 (83,3%) had high blood pressure. The results showed that there was relationship between  self-efficacy and blood pressure. in patients with hypertension at Makassar Regional General Hospital with a value of p=0,005. The conclusion in this study is that there is relationship between  self-efficacy and blood pressure in patients with hypertension at Makassar Regional General Hospital. For this reason, it is hoped that hypertension sufferers will be more positive thinking so that they are able to think that all diseases are not a burden but an encouragement to believe in themselves so that they can undergo good treatment.

Abstract

Dyspepsia is a symptom felt by the patient between the navel and the xyphoid process, including epigastric pain, sensation of pressure and fullness, nausea, and early subjective satiety. The etiology of this disorder is heterogeneous and multifactorial. Contributing causes include impaired motility, visceral hypersensitivity, increased mucosal permeability, and disorders of the autonomic and enteric nervous systems. There is no causally directed treatment for functional dyspepsia. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge of dyspepsia patients and their families regarding how to prevent and treat dyspepsia. Therefore, health education is carried out to increase knowledge of dyspepsia patients and their families about the causes, processes of occurrence, signs and symptoms, dangers, ways of treatment and prevention, how to take medicine, and traditional medicines for dyspepsia. The methods used are lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. The media used were leaflets, posters, pretest and posttest questions. The results of this service activity showed an increase in knowledge in both categories by 50% before and after counseling. It is recommended for the next service in the community so that they can demonstrate directly how to process traditional medicines for dyspepsia. Keyword: Dyspepsia; Family; Prevention; Accompaniment; Care

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the causes of premature death because it is associated with the risk of cardiovascular disease. Management of hypertensive patients can be in the form of self care management carried out by hypertensive patients. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be done independently by people with hypertension is progressive muscle relaxation. This community service activity aims to improve self-care for people with hypertension through progressive muscle relaxation training education. The methods of devotion are lectures, demonstrations, and using Leaflet media. From carrying out community service activities in the form of education to increase self-care management of hypertension by doing progressive muscle relaxation exercises, the knowledge and skills of the community are obtained after the provision of education increases. People become relaxed and comfortable after doing progressive muscle relaxation. Progressive muscle relaxation can be done independently anywhere and anytime by people with hypertension.
