Abstract

This article highlights a community initiative aimed at promoting sustainable household liquid waste management in Kediri City, Indonesia. The problem identified was the insufficient attention given to liquid waste, particularly used cooking oil, which often leads to environmental pollution and infrastructure damage. The objective of the activity was to raise awareness among residents about the proper disposal and recycling of used cooking oil. The proposed approach involved conducting workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns to educate community members about the environmental impacts of improper disposal and the benefits of recycling used cooking oil into aromatic candles. Major findings revealed that through collaborative efforts with local officials and community organizations, the initiative successfully engaged community members and fostered a sense of responsibility towards waste management. The training programs empowered participants with practical skills to convert used cooking oil into aromatic candles, promoting the repurposing of waste while creating a pleasant atmosphere. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of community participation and public awareness in ensuring sustainable liquid waste management. The initiative showcased the feasibility of recycling used cooking oil and highlighted the potential for broader adoption of similar practices in other regions. Overall, the activity underscored the significance of individual actions in collectively addressing environmental challenges and encouraged the adoption of responsible waste management practices at the household level.

Abstract

The Government of Trenggalek Regency is strongly committed to advancing the dairy cattle industry and boosting milk production in the region, with particular emphasis on Dompyong Village, Bendungan District.  This research aims to assess the capital requirements for dairy cattle farming and develop a model to strengthen the position of breeders using a profit-sharing system.  A survey method, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative descriptive approaches, was employed to gather comprehensive data.  The study revealed that independent dairy cattle farming requires a total capital of IDR 23,150,000.  However, under the profit-sharing system, breeders need only IDR 9,900,000 due to shared costs for purchasing dairy cows.  The profit-sharing arrangement generally involves a 50:50 split between breeders and investors, including income from the sale of calves and milk, resulting in a total profit-sharing value of IDR 23,000,000 per year.  Additionally, breeders receive 10 to 20 percent of the revenue from the sale of dairy cows, depending on the agreement.  The proposed model for strengthening breeders focuses on developing their character and credibility to build investor trust, advocating for written profit-sharing agreements to prevent disputes, and enhancing institutional support to improve business efficiency and provide technical guidance. Keywords : dairy cows; livestock, profit-sharing system.

Abstract

AbstrakAgroindustri sale pisang banyak ditemukan di Kecamatan Pogalan Kabupaten Trenggalek dengan mayoritas mempekerjakan saudara sebagai tenaga kerja sehingga kurang memperhitungkan biaya tenaga kerja yang dikeluarkan. Hal ini akan mempengaruhi nilai tambah produk yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai tambah agroindustri sale pisang di Kecamatan Pogalan Kabupaten Trenggalek. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode Hayami. Sampel diambil secara sensus dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 25 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas responden berusia 41-45 tahun dan berpendidikan terakhir SMA. Dalam satu kali proses produksi sale pisang membutuhkan 100 kg pisang kepok dan menghasilkan 65 kg sale pisang dengan harga jual Rp 41.000 per kg. Nilai tambah agroindustri sale pisang di Kecamatan Pogalan sebesar Rp 16.350 per kg dengan rasio nilai tambah 61,35%. Keuntungan yang diperoleh industri sale pisang sebesar Rp 14.850 dengan tingkat keuntungan 90,83%. Distribusi margin terbesar adalah untuk keuntungan yaitu 72,62%, tenaga kerja 7,33%, dan input lain sebesar 20,05%. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa agroindustri sale pisang di Kecamatan Pogalan memiliki nilai tambah yang tinggi dan potensial untuk dikembangkan.Kata kunci: Agroindustri, nilai tambah, sale pisang.AbstractThis research aims to determine the added value of banana chip agroindustry in Pogalan District, Trenggalek Regency. The method used is quantitative analysis using the Hayami method. The results of the study show that the majority of respondents are aged 41-45 years and have the last education level of high school. One process of producing banana chips requires 100 kg of kepok bananas and produces 65 kg of banana chips with a selling price of Rp 41,000 per kg. The added value of banana chip agroindustry in Pogalan District is Rp 16,350 per kg with an added value ratio of 61.35%. The profit obtained by the banana chip industry is Rp 14,850 with a profit rate of 90.83%. The largest margin distribution is for profit, namely 72.62%, labor 7.33%, and other inputs 20.05%. This research shows that banana chip agroindustry in Pogalan District has high added value and is potential to be developed.Keywords: Agroindustry, value added, dried banana dish.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has harmed freshwater fish cultivators, mainly gourami. Cultivators complained and were threatened with bankruptcy because not only have the selling price been low since the start of the pandemic, but the price of feed has also continued to rise. The situation encouraged gourami cultivators to switch to other types of cultured fish, like catfish and ornamental fish such as koi. The Community Service Team initiated to offer a solution in increasing the added value of gourami through processing it into nutritious fishball. The main result of this activity was to increase the added value of the product to increase selling value, product quality, industrial productivity, employment, income, and the welfare of gourami cultivators and their families. The activity was carried out by applying a participatory approach model and training in processing and producing gourami fishball for several groups of cultivators in several villages in Kalidawir District, Tulungagung. After the training was conducted and the fishball product was created, an organoleptic test was carried out to determine public acceptance of the product.

Abstract

Usaha pemenuhan kebutuhan pangan dengan pengelolaan  lahan kering maupun pekarangan terus digalakkan di berbagai wilayah di Indonesia. Lahan kering dan pekarangan merupakan sumber potensial yang dikembangkan dalam pembangunan pertanian untuk mendukung ketahanan pangan. Kegiatan penyuluhan pertanian telah dilaksanakan di Desa Kuncir Kabupaten Nganjuk bekerja sama dengan Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Nganjuk. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mendorong masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan lahan kering dan pekarangan untuk mendukung ketahanan pangan daerah setempat dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Metode penyuluhan meliputi penyampaian materi secara lengkap dan praktek pembuatan pupuk organik. Pemateri dari Pemerintah Daerah Kabupaten Nganjuk menyampaikan program pangan sehat dalam mendukung ketahanan pangan. Hasil dari kegiatan penyuluhan ini adalah lahan kering di Desa Kuncir Kabupaten Nganjuk potensial dikembangkan karena lahan cukup luas dan  tingkat kesuburan cukup baik serta sebagian besar masyarakat bermatapencaharian sebagai petani. Diskusi dua arah berlangsung interaktif menunjukkan tingkat antusiasisme masyarakat, pemahaman terhadap materi yang disampaikan dan  permasalahan di lapangan. Kegiatan penyuluhan pertanian yang dilakukan secara umum cukup berhasil karena adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan wawasan masyarakat dan ketertarikan dalam menerapkan pola tanam yang efektif di lahan kering maupun pemanfaatan pekarangan.

Abstract

Agricultural insurance plays an important role in protecting farmers' agricultural businesses. It provides guarantees against risks that may occur in farm businesses. This guarantee is given to farmers who experience losses from crop damage caused by natural factors such as drought, floods, and pest attacks. Insurance is provided through the Rice Farming Business Insurance Program (AUTP). The study aims to determine the response of farmers who cultivate rice plants to AUTP in Gondangmanis Village, Bandarkedungmulyo District, Jombang Regency. In this study, the sample of farmers used as research objects involved 118 sharecroppers who had received the AUTP program as respondents to the AUTP program. The number of respondents was 6 who participated in the AUTP program in the Manisrenggo farmer group, and 6 respondents participated in the AUTP program in the Gondangmanis farmer group. Two data sources are used in this study, namely primary data and secondary data. The research data were analyzed using validity tests and reliability tests. Farmer responses to the implementation of the AUTP program were valued at 69.92. This value has an average index formula of 87.40%, indicating that respondents Strongly Agree (ss) with the objectives, benefits, and implementation of the AUTP program in Gondangmanis Village, Bandarkedungmulyo District, Jombang Regency. Asuransi Pertanian, berperan penting bagi petani dalam melindungi usaha pertanian mereka. Hal memberikan jaminan terhadap risiko yang mungkin terjadi dalam usaha pertanian. Jaminan ini diberikan kepada petani yang mengalami kerugian akibat kerusakan tanaman yang disebabkan oleh faktor alam seperti kekeringan, banjir, dan serangan hama asuransi diberikan melalui, Program Asuransi Usaha Tani Padi (AUTP). Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui respon petani yang membudidayakan tanaman padi terhadap AUTP di Desa Gondangmanis Kecamatan Bandarkedungmulyo Kabupaten Jombang. Pada penelitian ini, sampel petani yang dipakai menjadi objek penelitian melibatkan 118 petani penggarap yang pernah menerima program AUTP sebagai responden terhadap program AUTP. Jumlah responden adalah 6 yang mengikuti program AUTP pada kelompok tani Manisrenggo dan 6 responden mengikuti program AUTP pada kelompok tani, Gondangmanis. Terdapat dua data yang dijadikan sumber pada penelitian ini yaitu data primer dan data sekunder. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas. Respon petani terhadap pelaksanaan program AUTP bernilai 69,92. Nilai ini memiliki rata-rata rumus indeks sebesar 87,40 % menunjukkan arti bahwa responden Sangat Setuju (ss) terhadap tujuan, manfaat dan pelaksanaan program AUTP di Desa Gondangmanis Kecamatan Bandarkedungmulyo Kabupaten Jombang.

Abstract

Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is a seasonal tropical fruit and usually harvesting at October until December in Indonesia. In Kediri Regency, one of local variety mango known as ‘Podang Urang’ had been harvested and the production is high. When the harvesting time, the price of ‘Podang Urang’ mango is very cheap around IDR1,600 per kg on wholesale market in Kediri. This condition certainly will adverse the farmers. In order to decrease this risk that faced by farmers, this locally mango could be potential to process as mayonnaise to increase of the price value. This research aimed to process ‘Podang Urang’ mango as mayonnaise, characterize their physicochemical and sensory characteristics, and compare the mayonnaise product as prescribed by the quality requirement criteria of Indonesian National Standard (SNI) No. 01-4473-1998. The mango with 90% maturity was sorted, peelded, and blended. This puree was added with various of full cream milk, citric acid (0.3%), and palm oil (2%) and processed to be mayonnaise. The result showed that the ‘Podang urang’ mango mayonnaise with added with full cream milk (50:50%/B2) had emulsion stability about 99.99%, lightness (L*) of 45.96, protein content of 1.39%, pH of 6.57, vitamin C about 16.43%, and moisture content about 62.67%. This mayonnaise composition (50% of mango puree and 50% of full cream milk) was likely by the panelists in terms of color (7.12), flavor (7.12), taste (7.04), thickness (7.04), and overall acceptable about 7.20. This study provides the utilization of Kediri locally mango (‘Podang Urang’) as a diverse food product, which is acceptable to the panelists and adds value to the raw material.   Keywords: diversity of product, local mango, mayonnaise, ‘Podang Urang’

Abstract

Suatu usahatani pembibitan tanaman sayuran berlokasi di Desa Tegalan Kecamatan Kandat Kabupaten Kediri yang bernama Jamaah Tani Nursery termasuk ke dalam usahatani perintis yang sukses dan menjadi pelopor usaha sejenis di lokasi tersebut. Usahatani ini bahkan memperluas usahataninya hingga ke Kabupaten Blitar dan Tulungagung. Tanaman sayuran yang diproduksi pada usahatani pembibitan ini terdiri dari bibit cabai, bibit sawi, dan bibit terong. Penelitian dilakukan pada usahatani ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui usaha pembibitan tanaman sayuran manakah yang memberikan keuntungan paling tinggi. Tujuan kedua penelitian adalah untuk menghitung break event point (BEP) masing-masing bibit sayuran tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode obervasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terhadap performa usahatani dan petani (pelakunya), selaku pemilik usaha pembibitan tanaman sayuran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitan, diketahui bahwa secara keseluruhan pendapatan yang paling tinggi diperoleh petani di tanaman sayuran bibit cabai. Sementara itu, BEP produksi di Kabupaten Kediri untuk bibit sawi adalah 1,442 polibag, bibit cabai 1.106 polibag, dan bibit terong 1,447 dengan BEP harga bibit sawi Rp96,15, bibit cabai Rp96,70, dan bibit terong Rp144,73. Sedangkan untuk BEP produksi di Kabupaten Blitar untuk bibit sawi adalah 1,710 polibag, bibit cabai 1,150 polibag, dan terong sebanyak 1,297 polibag dengan BEP harga bibit sawi Rp128,23, bibit cabai Rp172,48, dan bibit terong Rp129,73. BEP produksi bibit sawi di Kabupaten Tulungagung adalah 1,643 polibag, bibit cabai 1,117 polibag, dan bibit terong 1,247 polibag dengan BEP harga untuk bibit sawi, cabai, dan terong masing-masing Rp123,23, Rp167,48, dan Rp124,73.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to address the issue of pineapple skin waste produced by the PERTAKINA cooperative in Blitar, which primarily processes pineapple juice and other pineapple-based products, leaving large amounts of waste that currently have minimal use. Through collaboration with the PERTAKINA community, this study aims to create value from this waste by transforming it into nata de pina, a product with potential market appeal. This project involved training and mentoring sessions to equip participants with the skills and technology needed for waste processing, including production techniques, quality control, and basic management. Data were collected through observations, focus group discussions, and pre- and post-test evaluations, revealing significant knowledge gains among participants. This transformation of pineapple skin waste not only reduces environmental pollution but also provides new income-generating opportunities for the community, highlighting the potential of waste utilization in agricultural communities. The success of this initiative underscores the importance of technology transfer and continuous support to enable sustainable community-based waste management and product diversification.

Abstract

Lamuk Crackers, a beloved traditional snack from Kalirong Village in Kediri, exemplifies an innovative way to repurpose cassava starch waste. Known for their distinctive flavour and cost-effective production, these crackers offer several advantages. However, they also face obstacles in today's competitive snack market, particularly in terms of packaging innovation. This study aims to understand consumer preferences for Lamuk Crackers better, emphasising the significance of packaging development and proposing strategies to improve packaging that can boost the product’s market position. We adopted a quantitative research approach, using a structured questionnaire as our primary data collection tool for surveys. Using simple random sampling, we gathered responses from 185 consumers who had previously tried Lamuk Crackers. Data analysis was performed using logistic regression to identify key factors that influence purchasing decisions. The findings reveal that innovative packaging, such as aluminium foil in a standing pouch design, considerably enhances consumer appeal and preference. Important factors influencing buying choices include product quality, materials, shelf life, brand loyalty, and price. There is a clear link between innovative packaging and the product’s visual appeal, which helps communicate its premium quality, improves protection, and prolongs shelf life—all of which affect consumer decisions. To grow the market share, implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy is essential, using social media, e-commerce platforms, and collaborations with retail partners. This approach aims to preserve the authentic identity of Lamuk Crackers while boosting its competitiveness amid a rapidly changing marketplace.
