Abstract

The research paper analyzed the concept of Maqāṣid al-Sharī’ah  in Zaidiyah and Ja’fariyah madhhabs comparison, examining its relevance in both fractured times and the modern world. The background for this research was the lack of a systematic study on the comparative epistemological and methodological characteristics of the two madhhabs of thought, which made it more than attractive to develop law-responsive approaches for 21st-century tendencies in Islamic law. The paper's objectives were to identify commonalities and differences between Zaidiyah and Ja'fariyah perspectives on Maqāṣid and to test how these differences contribute to the solution of contemporary issues, including sex- and law-gender equality, and law pluralism. The research employed a comparative qualitative design overall, with a textual-contextual analysis approach, conducting deep and critical analysis of classical material, as well as a thematic one, to track patterns of Maqāṣid interpretation. The results include the fact that Zaidiyah adopted a systemic rational-contextual approach to Maqāṣid based on al-maslahah al-‘āmmah and Ja'fariyah – an imamah-centric approach via al-taqiyyah al-ijtihādiyyah. The study also concludes that the synthesis of these approaches is effective in providing a methodology for Islamic law.

Abstract

Amid ongoing debates on the critical re-evaluation of the Islamic intellectual tradition, this paper directly addresses the need for a deconstructive approach by analyzing Ibn Sīnā’s philosophy of the soul through Mohammed Arkoun’s hermeneutics to expose the power-knowledge nexus in its epistemological foundations. The research pursues three objectives: first, to dissect Ibn Sīnā’s conception of the soul critically; second, to evaluate Arkoun’s critique of religious reason—particularly his concept of l’impensé—in the deconstruction of metaphysical assumptions; and third, to formulate a methodological synthesis that bridges philosophical-textual analysis with ideological critique. Utilizing philosophical-critical hermeneutics, the study proceeds through three stages: a systematic reconstruction of Ibn Sīnā’s arguments, a deconstructive analysis through Arkoun’s lens, and a contextual critique within contemporary discourse. The findings suggest that Ibn Sina’s theory subtly reinforces epistemic hierarchies aligned with the scientific paradigm of his era. Arkoun’s method, while demanding adjustments for dense philosophical texts, proves effective in unsettling inherited intellectual dogmas. As a result, the study proposes a hybrid analytical model that offers both critical depth and constructive engagement with classical Islamic texts. This contributes to rethinking Islamic philosophy in ways relevant to education, intellectual renewal, and interfaith dialogue. The research also points to fertile ground for further inquiry—particularly the application of this hybrid method to other classical thinkers and the expansion of its scope through interdisciplinary integration.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in increasing the competitiveness of Vocational High School (SMK) graduates in West Java. This topic is important because it is a strategic effort to bridge the gap between vocational education and the needs of dynamic industries. This study uses a qualitative approach to deeply understand how industrial internship programs are integrated into the curriculum and their impact on students and the school's relationship with industry. Data was collected through observation, interviews with the vice principal for curriculum, and document analysis. The data source came from SMK Negeri 9 Bandung City and SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi City which were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis is carried out interactively and continuously through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions drawn. Case studies in two vocational schools show that the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Action) cycle has been implemented systematically. However, challenges still arise in terms of synchronizing the curriculum with industry needs and resource limitations. The findings show a significant increase in the readiness of graduates to enter the world of work. This study concludes that TQM can be an effective framework for improving the quality of vocational education, provided that it is supported by conducive policies and stronger collaboration between schools, industry, and the government.

Abstract

This study examines the strategies and implementation of Islamic character education at Madrasah Aliyah Asshidiqiyah Karawang, with a focus on integrating Islamic values into the curriculum, teaching methods, and school culture. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis. The findings reveal a holistic approach that integrates Islamic values into both academic and extracurricular activities, such as project-based learning, congregational prayers, dhikr (remembrance), and social service programs. Teachers serve as primary role models, supported by parental involvement and school policies. Despite challenges like limited teacher training, external environmental influences, and less-than-optimal parental participation, the character education program significantly improved students’ discipline, honesty, and social responsibility. The study concludes that Islamic character education is effective when implemented comprehensively and collaboratively among schools, teachers, and families. It recommends enhancing teacher training, strengthening community partnerships, and conducting ongoing evaluations to ensure the program’s sustainability and success.

Abstract

Awareness of worship is a crucial element in the lives of Muslims, but in Kampung Sekeangkrih, Cileunyi Wetan Village, Bandung Regency, there is still a low level of awareness of worship and participation in regular religious lectures. The lack of understanding of the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah (ASWAJA) and the influence of technological developments and digital media that encourage individualistic attitudes are the main challenges. This study fills the research gap on how the application of ASWAJA values can increase religious awareness in rural communities. This study aims to analyze the role of the implementation of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (ASWAJA) values in strengthening community worship awareness through a contextual socio-religious approach that is responsive to digital dynamics. Qualitative methods were used to collect data through observation and in-depth interviews with 15 informants, including religious leaders, community leaders, and residents who are active and less active in worship. Qualitative descriptive analysis was conducted to understand the level of understanding and factors influencing the community's worship practices. The results revealed that religious awareness remains low due to limited religious understanding, the influence of digital media, and the lack of role models among religious leaders. The application of the values of moderation, togetherness, and social responsibility contained in ASWAJA has the potential to strengthen collective religious awareness. This study recommends innovative and contextual religious guidance strategies to build a culture of mutual reminders in worship, while utilizing digital media positively. These findings are important as a basis for developing religious programs that are responsive to social and technological dynamics in rural communities.

Abstract

Indonesia’s plural social structure, marked by diversity in religion, ethnicity, culture, and religious perspectives, represents both a social asset and a potential source of tension when not supported by adequate tolerance. The increasing trend of exclusivism, intolerance, and religion-based conflict indicates the urgency of strengthening ethical frameworks capable of fostering harmonious coexistence. This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing tolerance values within the Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) perspective and to examine its implications for social harmony in a pluralistic society. A qualitative approach was employed through library research, utilizing secondary data from scholarly books, journal articles, and relevant academic publications. Data were analyzed using content analysis to identify key concepts related to tolerance, Aswaja principles, and their social manifestations. The findings show that tolerance in the Aswaja framework is grounded in the principles of tasamuh (tolerance), tawassuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), and ta‘adul (justice), which are internalized through cognitive understanding, affective appreciation, and behavioral practice. This internalization process is facilitated by religious education, social-religious activities, and the exemplary role of religious leaders. The study further reveals that the internalization of Aswaja-based tolerance values contributes significantly to the development of mutual respect, the prevention of religion-based social conflict, the strengthening of social solidarity and cohesion, and the reinforcement of national unity. These values function not only as theological principles but also as a socio-ethical foundation for inclusive, peaceful, and civilized social relations in Indonesia’s diverse society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of educational digitalization in strengthening students’ tolerance attitudes from the perspective of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja) at SMP Al-Amanah, Bandung Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation techniques applied to ensure data validity. The findings indicate that educational digitalization implemented through a blended learning model contributes positively to strengthening students’ tolerance attitudes. The integration of Aswaja values—tawassuth (moderation), tasamuh (tolerance), tawazun (balance), and ta’adul (justice)—is reflected in learning materials, digital learning activities, and student interactions. Students demonstrate increased ability to accept differences, communicate respectfully, and exhibit inclusive attitudes in digital and face-to-face learning contexts. The successful implementation is supported by teachers’ roles, school leadership, and a conducive school culture, although challenges remain in the form of limited digital literacy and unequal access to technology. This study highlights that value-based educational digitalization plays a strategic role in fostering tolerant student character in the digital era
