Abstract

Cianjur Regency is known as the top ten rice producers in West Java, precisely in the fifth position. Rice from Cianjur is not only known at the local level, but also known at the regional and even national level. One of the well-known rice varieties is the pandanwangi variety, namely the local bulu variety (javanica) Cianjur Agriculture Service, 2011. This rice variety has several advantages, in addition to delicious taste, pandanus fragrance and the price is much more expensive than premium rice. However, recently the pandanwangi rice planting area continues to decrease, even in 2017 the harvest area is only 14 930 hectares. This phenomenon indicates that there is a discrepancy between the behavior of farmers and the support of the government, which makes pandanwangi rice an icon of the city of Cianjur. The question arises how the behavior of farmers in farming pandanwangi rice. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions and motivations of farmers to plant pandanwangi rice; and farmers' income from pandanwangi rice farming. Design This study uses a quantitative design with a survey technique on 88 farmers in Warungkondang District, Cianjur. The results of the research on farmers' perceptions of the geographical environment are very supportive; government support is very good, and the motivation of farmers to plant fragrant pandan rice in addition to maintaining the availability of household food, has made pandanwangi an icon of the city of Cianjur.

Abstract

Tea is one of the leading commodities in Indonesia and is mostly produced in West Java, where Afdeling Sinumbra is one of the plantations that produce Orthodox black tea under the auspices of PT Perkebunan Nusantara VIII but has the smallest production contribution. This indicates that there are problems regarding production, and a risk management analysis is needed. The research was carried out from the plantation and processing levels using the House of Risk method consisting of stages 1 and 2. Stage 1 aims to identify risk events and the causes or sources of these risks. While stage 2 aims to formulate appropriate handling strategies to minimize the impact caused by risk sources. This study shows that crop failure is the biggest risk event at the plantation level stemming from delays in handling pests and diseases. The handling strategy that can be done is to increase discipline. Meanwhile, at the processing level, there is a risk that production and grading are not achieved, which stems from the implementation of SOPs that are not appropriate. The handling strategy that can be done is to warm up the engine, repair the engine, and train.

Abstract

Aneka Olahan Ubi Cilembu Khas Ma Utik is a home industry that processes Cilembu sweet potatoes into food products, namely sweet potato chips. This home industry has not used the optimal inventory management method for purchasing raw materials so the supply of raw materials for producing sweet potato chips is lacking. This problem needs to control inventory to get optimal inventory of raw materials. The purpose of this study was to analyze the inventory of raw materials according to the Home Industry and the inventory of raw materials according to the EOQ method and the comparison of the raw material inventory system of the Home Industry with the Economic Order Quantity Method. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research design with case study techniques. The results showed that this home industry made purchases of raw materials for cilembu sweet potato as much as 11,760 kg/year with a purchase frequency of 12 times, the total inventory cost incurred was Rp. 7,980,000. Safety stock is not carried out due to shortage of raw materials. The reorder point is made when 150 kg of raw material remains, while according to the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method, the optimal purchase of raw materials reaches 15,777.78 kg/year with a frequency of 12 times per a year. The total cost of inventory incurred is Rp. 5,634,839.9/year. Raw materials that need to be reserved are 116.7 kg/month. The reorder point is carried out when the remaining raw materials are 279.7 kg / month, therefore the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method can reduce the cost of inventory incurred and determine the optimal amount of raw material purchases.

Abstract

SB Rice Mill has a rice yield of 62 kg, which is below the national average yield of 65 kg, also quality of rice is often not in accordance with consumer demand. Both of these lead to losses in the production process that are not handled properly. These risks disrupt performance and hinder the goal to produce rice with good quality and quantity. Therefore, research related to risk analysis was conducted at SB Rice Mill with a qualitative approach and case study. This research was conducted with the aim of identifying risks and the best mitigation actions against these risks through the House of Risk stages 1 and 2. The results showed that there were 19 risk events from 32 risk agents in the rice production process at SB Rice Mill. 13 risk agents are considered as the main cause of the overall risk occurrence which will be handled. Then 21 mitigation actions were identified that need to be carried out.

Abstract

The underrepresentation of young people in the agricultural sector is a pervasive phenomenon that has been observed across various continents. This phenomenon has significant consequences, including the underrepresentation of youth in the agricultural workforce and the subsequent aging of the sector's labor force. The factors that motivate young people to pursue careers in agriculture are multifaceted such as income opportunities, social status, government assistance, and the family environment. The objective of this paper is to identify the factors that influence youth interest in agriculture in paddy production center area. To this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted among youth who are children of rice farmers in Karangligar Village, Telukjambe Barat District, Karawang Regency and analyzed youth perceptions using Rasch Modeling. The results of the study indicate that strong factors that influence youth interest in the agricultural sector are social factors, farmer income, and land resources. The occupation of farmer is considered to have a great influence on society. Conversely, factors such as income, societal influences, family dynamics, and policy frameworks have been identified as deterrents to youth interest in pursuing careers in agriculture. The findings underscore the imperative for comprehensive support programs aimed at fostering interest and engagement among young people in the agricultural sector. Such initiatives should encompass the provision of adequate agricultural education, facilitation of business processes, and promotion of entrepreneurship, encompassing agricultural financing, production, and marketing of agricultural products.

Abstract

Potatoes are a horticultural commodity with high economic value. Potato production involves uncertainty and risks due to unpredictable seasons and high production costs, especially for seeds. The objective of this study is to identify risk events, sources of risk, and formulate the most effective risk control strategies for potato production in Sarimukti Village, Pasirwangi District, Garut Regency. The research location was purposively chosen with the consideration that Pasirwangi District is a potato production center in West Java. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The informants in this study consisted of 6 people. The data analysis technique used in this study is the House of Risk (HOR). The results of the study indicate that there are 28 risk events in potato vegetable production. The event with the highest impact is plant death. 18 of risk and 8 risk sources were identified. The sources of risk with the highest occurrence rate are non-certified seeds and unpredictable seasons. Industrial potato production was identified with 24 risk events, with the highest impact being plant death. 17 of risk were identified with 7 sources. The most frequently occurring risk source is the unpredictable season. There are 11 proposed risk control action strategies that can be applied to reduce risk. The most effective risk control action strategy for potato vegetable production is to purchase potato seeds directly from Balitsa or trusted seed breeders, while the most effective action strategy for industrial potato production is to determine the planting schedule for potatoes and crop rotation.
