Abstract

This study aims to this study was to examine the effect of polypropylene (PP) plastic and activated carbon (AC) composition in a plastic composite material. The composite material was mixed using an internal mixer at a processing temperature of 220°C and a speed of 50 rpm. The mixture was then molded with dimensions of 100 mm in length, 15 mm in width, and 2,5 mm in thickness. The sample molding was performed using a compression molding method with a pressure of 1500 MPa at 250°C and a holding time of 300 minutes. Subsequently, the samples were cut according to the bending test dimensions following ASTM D790-03 standards, with dimensions of 100 mm x 12.7 mm x 2.5 mm. The test results for the polypropylene-activated carbon composite in the first composition showed a maximum stress point of 36.95 MPa and an elastic modulus of 4.3096 MPa, while the second composition showed a maximum stress point of 34.58 MPa and an elastic modulus of 3.371 MPa. These findings indicate that increasing the activated carbon composition in polypropylene polymer results in a reduction in bending strength.

Abstract

In general, every livestock needs feed in the form of a mixture of livestock feed. The livestock feed fermentation process is currently phenomenal because it provides benefits that are felt by farmers. Maybe many people know the fermentation as a process of making supplement drinks only. It turns out not, the fermentation process can be used as an alternative to making high-quality livestock feed. In addition to being very simple to make, making feed by fermentation also saves time and money, because farmers are no longer busy with herding or grazing. This horizontal mixer machine has a capacity of 100 kg / Batch. In making this machine includes manufacturing processes such as: welding, grinding, drilling, bending, cutting torch or gas cutting, and non-permanent joints, namely nut and bolt joints. The components of the machine are: frame, tube, double screw, axle shaft, bossing, gear box, housing bearing, block bearing, pulley, v-belt, and electric motor. And then assembled and put together into a machine. From the above explanation, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. Horizontal mixer machine with a tube diameter of 60 cm and a width of 90 cm, is capable of mixing 100 kg/batch of animal feed. 2. Horizontal mixer machine using a double screw produces a more homogeneous mixture compared to using the manual method.

Abstract

Teachers and staff at Sekolah Alam Indonesia (SAI) Cibinong have been using a manual attendance system, which has caused delays in attendance recapitulation and inefficiencies in reporting and monitoring. To address this problem, the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method was adopted, emphasizing active involvement from the school community in every stage of the program. The PAR method was chosen because it fosters a collaborative approach, ensuring that the solution is tailored to the specific needs and context of the school. The Smart Record System, an automated Internet of Things system that uses facial detection technology for precise attendance recording and reporting, was introduced by the community service program to address this problem. To increase participants' understanding of data security, this program offered a seminar on Personal Data Protection in social media and system implementation. To guarantee efficient use of the technology, the methodology included system installation, integration with IoT components, and training sessions. After providing participants with practical system operation experience, system assessments and feedback gathering were conducted to gauge the implementation's efficacy. The outcomes demonstrated how the smart attendance system, which offered real-time attendance data and prompt reporting, greatly simplified the attendance management procedure. Based on the questionnaire responses, the system achieved an average user satisfaction score of 3.86 out of 5, reflecting a 77.2% positive agreement among users. Furthermore, the reliability of the questionnaire, measured by Cronbach’s Alpha, was 0.85, indicating a high level of consistency in the responses. These quantitative findings confirm that the system significantly improved the efficiency of attendance management while being well-received by teachers and staff.

Abstract

Electricity is one of the vital energy sources that is highly demanded by society. However, there is still an imbalance in the availability of electricity in Indonesia, especially in remote or isolated areas that are difficult to reach by the national power grid (PLN). To address this issue, one of the solutions that can be employed is Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH), which is a renewable power generation system. In PLTMH, water turbines are utilized as a medium to generate rotation through the force exerted by the flowing water from a certain height. The water head plays a significant role in the performance of the water turbine, where a higher waterfall and impact on the turbine blades result in faster rotation and greater energy production. This study presents the experimental results of an Undershot Water Turbine made of Acrylic material with 8 blades and a blade angle of 15°. The experiment employed a water volume of 58 liters and a water gate opening of 3 cm. The results showed that the water turbine generated a power of 0.41584 watts, while the power produced by the flowing water was 1.23186 watts. The efficiency of the water turbine in this experiment reached 33%. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the proper utilization of an Undershot Water Turbine made of Acrylic material with an appropriate number and angle of blades can yield significant power output. Moreover, the achieved efficiency level of 33% demonstrates that the water turbine can serve as an efficient alternative for renewable electricity generation.

Abstract

Centrifugal pumps are widely used to move fluids through increased pressure efficiently. This study examines the effect of series and parallel pump configurations and valve opening variations on flow characteristics in a pressurized piping system. A laboratory experiment method with two repetitions was used. The results showed turbulent flow at 50%, 75%, and 100% valve openings with Reynolds numbers above 10,000. In comparison, at a 25% opening, series pumps tend to produce laminar flow (Re < 600), and parallel pumps maintain transitional/turbulent flow (Re > 4,000). The recommendation is to use series pumps for high pressure and parallel for large discharge, with a minimum valve opening of 25% for optimal efficiency.

Abstract

Smoking is a common habit in Indonesia. The Indonesian government has implemented regulations on smoke-free areas, but violations of the smoke-free policy still often occur. Previous studies have developed smoking violation detection system based on the MQ sensor. However, the smoking violation detection system based only on the MQ sensor is less reliable because the detected gas could come from other sources. Therefore, this study discusses a smoking violation detection system that can automatically verify smoking violation activities using the MQ-7 sensor, MQ-135 sensor, and the YOLOv5s algorithm. The MQ-7 sensor that has been calibrated to detect CO in ppm units achieved an accuracy level of 89.84%. The MQ-135 sensor also has successfully detected ammonia and toluene in cigarette smoke in ppm units. The trained YOLOv5s algorithm achieved an average Precision of 91.9%, Recall 83.7%, F1-Score 87.6%, and mAP50 88.3%. The system is equipped with a speaker that will sound automatically after a verified smoking violation occurs and Telegram notifications in the form of text messages and images.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the effects of community experience and perceived community benefits on brand loyalty, with brand engagement serving as an intervening variable. Employing a quantitative survey methodology with an associative approach, this research focuses on members of the Sampoerna Retail Community in Area Medan 2, comprising a population of 2,293 individuals. A sample of 180 respondents was selected. Data collection utilized a structured questionnaire, and analytical methods included descriptive analysis and PLS-SEM, ensuring a robust evaluation of the relationships among the key variables. The findings indicate that community experience and the perception of community benefits both exert a positive and statistically significant influence on brand loyalty. While community experience positively influences brand engagement, this relationship does not achieve statistical significance. In contrast, the perception of community benefits significantly affects brand engagement. Furthermore, brand engagement positively impacts member loyalty. Notably, while brand engagement does not mediate the relationship between perceived community benefits and brand loyalty, it does mediate the relationship between community experience and brand loyalty. This research enhances the understanding of the dynamics among these variables within the research context.
