Abstract

This research analyzes the role of WFP as an international organization in handling the food crisis in Sudan in 2019-2022. The political coup against President Bashir that took place in 2019 led to a food crisis that affected a large section of the population. The Sudanese population experienced acute food insecurity as a result of post-coup cash shortages and a fragile economy as outside food support was halted. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 exacerbated economic problems and hampered the post-Bashir transition and led to a major reduction in international aid. The purpose of this research is to find out about the role of WFP in handling the food crisis that occurred in Sudan in 2019-2022. This research uses a qualitative method, with data collection techniques through literature studies sourced from several journals, books, articles, reports, and websites. This research uses a pluralism perspective, the concept of food security, and Clive Archer’s international organization theory which divides the role of international organization into three, namely as instruments, arenas, and independent actors. The study showed that WFP carries out its role as an international organization by implementing various programs that are in accordance with Sudan’s conditions. As an instrument, WFP helps Sudan to achieve national interests which in this context is to deal with the food crisis. As an independent actor, WFP has sufficient capacity to make decisions independently without external influence while cooperating with many partners, so that the number of beneficiaries continues to increase from 2019-2022. Abstract

Prosperity becomes the goal for society in the world. Scholars have their own approaches and measures to achieve it. One of ASEAN goal is to create a stable, prosperous and highly competitive economic region. Regional economic integration can be accomplished with maritime connectivity due to geographic location, particularly between Bengkalis, Indonesia with Malaysia (Muar, Malaka, Kuala Lumpur). Bandar Sri Setia Raja could reduce transport cost, provide more efficient service and increased opportunities from tourism. Port connectivity will affect social and economic lives of Bengkalis residents. The research elaborated how significant role of Bandar Sri Setia Raja seaport for resident mobilization for social and economic activities, the challenges, and prospects. This research was mixed of quantitative and qualitative methodology of 15 male travellers to Malaysia, 5 female tourers, and 10 male and female local residents’ tourists to Malaysia for leisure and healing. Secondary data from Indonesian official report, statistics, and news were utilized to describe economic gain. In-depth interviews tried to collect detailed data of migrant voices about their experiences, challenges, and hopes. The study showed Sri Setia Raja port could afford ASEAN economic community as well as social benefit. Bengkalis residents were able to save money, time and energy to visit Malaysia for working, healing, and doing micro business. Bengkalis Island locates quite far from Pekanbaru’s international airport or Dumai’s international port so Sri Setia Raja is the best option to go overseas.

Abstract

Abstract

This research analyzed the interests of the Padang City Government in establishing a Sister City Cooperation with Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province (Vietnam). The Padang City Government had carried out cooperation since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2016. This cooperation involved sub- state actors in international relations activities, which was included in the paradiplomacy phenomenon as an effort to fulfill regional interests in advancing regional capabilities or potentials in accordance with the mandate of regional autonomy policies. The Padang City Government and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province had their respective regional government interests in implementing cooperation to achieve their common interests. This research employed a qualitative method, namely through interviews and library studies, as well as secondary data materials. The research utilized the perspective of liberalism and paradiplomacy theory, where paradiplomacy refers to the ability of sub-state actors to become actors in international relations. The findings of this research indicated that the interests of the Padang City Government in establishing a Sister City Cooperation with Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province were to maximize the capabilities of its region, boost the economy that had declined in 2013, and resolve various issues in the agreed-upon cooperation fields. Abstract

This study talks about the issue of illegal settlements in the Palestinian territories. The illegal settlements built by Israel in the Palestinian territories have sparked opposition from various countries and violated international law because it is located on the streets or areas that are not part of Israel but the Palestinian territories. The UN Security Council made a resolution on the issue of illegal settlements, in the implementation there are several obstacles that cause the failure of peace in the creation of Palestine.Various kinds of peace efforts have been made to create peace on the earth of Palestine. All peace talks and agreements have been signed, but the deal has run aground. All agreements and resolutions are still being violated by Israel, the offense was caused by some principal issues between the two sides. But the Israeli side always wins in the wind in various situations and conditions, so Israel is always on the side who always benefit, while the Palestinians are always on the side of the disadvantaged. Israel has a power that is strong enough so that superpowers like the US even on Israel. The failure or stalled negotiations of agreement and peace are the result of many inhibiting factors even though the UN Security Council has sought to make a resolution for the creation of peace or the ever-initiated solution of a two-state solution. Whether the barriers from within and from outside. Implementation of the Resolution can not be done considering the number of cases that occur or the complicated problems that occur after the issuance of Resolution concerning illegal settlements in Palestine. Although initially the United States as an ally of Israel voted abstained at this resolution, it only sparked enormous anger for Israel and planned to add to the construction of illegal settlements as a real action rejecting the UN Security Council's Resolution on December 23, 2016. The dualism side of the US stance also became a key factor in the impediments to the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions. Where the attitude is inversely proportional shown during the reign of Barack Obama and Donald J. Trump. Keywords: Implementation, Resolution, Illegal Settlements, UN Security Council
