Abstract

Abstract Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the routine access of pregnant women to do ANC visits at health facilities. Various midwifery services have changed and developed through telehealth. Objectives: Analyze the effect of telehealth applications on pregnant women's safety during the COVID-19 pandemic through a systematic review. Methods: This study used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). The literature was carried out using keywords and Boolean operators through Pubmed, ProQuest, Science Direct, and Wiley Library databases with the publication year from December 2019 to January 2022. Results: 5 articles met the inclusion criteria. Two studies were conducted in the United States. Studies were also conducted in Australia, Poland, and China. The use of telehealth was safe to apply to pregnant women to carry out pregnancy care during the COVID-19 pandemic because telehealth services increase patient access to health care providers. A total of 3 articles described that the use of telehealth compared to general face-to-face care did not lead to worse pregnancy outcomes and could reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus among pregnant women. Conclusion: The use of telehealth was safe for pregnant women to carry out pregnancy care during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Although the use of telehealth had limitations such as difficulties in conducting a comprehensive physical examination and the possibility of obstacles in the use of technology, telehealth could continue to be developed in addition to and complement in-person visits. Further research could be done by minimizing bias in retrospective studies. Keyword : COVID-19, Patient safety, Pregnancy, Telehealth

Abstract

Background: Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP) is a common problem for pregnant women. Many pregnant women are worried about the side effects of pharmacological therapy, thus encouraging them to use non-pharmacological therapy. Researchers have recently paid particular attention to complementary medicine methods for the treatment of NVP. With regard to the high prevalence of NVP as well as the adverse effects of chemicals on the mother and fetus of the drug, this study focused on assessing the safety and efficacy of different non-pharmacological methods in eliminating NVP. This systematic review was carried out to assess the safety and efficacy of different non-pharmacological methods in eliminating NVP. Methods: This study used a systematic review method by conducting a literature search through the PubMed database, Cochrane library, Science direct, Proquest, and Google Scholar with publication years starting January 2011 and January 2021. Results: A total of ten articles were selected as part of the final sample according to the inclusion criteria. Of the 10 articles, 2 were about the use of ginger, 3 were about Acupuncture-moxibustion, 2 were about psychotherapy, one was about Progressive muscle relaxation, and 2 were about psychoeducation. Studies have shown a positive effect on NVP reduction; however, no side effects were reported. Conclusion: According to the results of this review, most of the methods used are effective in reducing the incidence of NVP, among which ginger and P6 acupressure can be recommended more reliably.

Abstract

Abstract Psychological stress during pregnancy is associated with negative birth outcomes, such as premature birth, low birth weight, gestational age at birth, indicators of breastfeeding, symptoms of postpartum depression, and can cause long-term defects in cognitive development. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of mindfulness interventions on neonatal outcomes through a systematic review. The method used in this study is a systematic review by searching articles through the Pubmed, ProQuest, Science Direct, Wiley Library, Sage Journal, and Cochrane Library databases with publication years January 2018 to January 2022. The results of the study obtained 6 articles that met the inclusion criteria, articles that discussed mindfulness on neonatal outcomes consisted of several countries, namely Canada, Egypt, the United States, San Francisco, Amsterdam, Netherlands. The use of mindfulness interventions for mothers with psychological distress suggests that mindfulness interventions are effective for improving labor outcomes and positive experiences during childbirth. From this study it can be concluded that mindfulness for the future can be used as a non-pharmacological intervention option to reduce psychological distress without risky side effects. Researchers suggest that further research is needed regarding the long-term effects after delivery and delivery outcomes.

Abstract

Duration of the birth process can be a factor in the emergence of complications in the mother and fetus if the fetus has not been born after 12 hours since the active phase of labor. The purpose of this systematic review is to determine the effect of the acupressure method on the duration of labor. The search for articles was carried out on the PubMed, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, and Wiley Library databases from January 2012 to January 2022 with the inclusion criteria of maternity mothers. The keywords used “Acupressure” AND “Duration of Labor”; “Acupressure” AND “Labor Duratin”. The results obtained 8 articles that match the inclusion criteria with 961 respondents. A total of 4 articles stated that acupressure could reduce the duration of the active phase of labor, 3 articles stated that acupressure could not reduce the duration of the active phase of labor, and 1 article stated that ear acupressure could reduce the duration of the active phase of labor, but body acupressure could not reduce the duration of the active phase of labor. The acupressure method can reduce the duration of the active phase of labor, so that it can be used as an alternative for women giving birth in the future. Further research can be carried out to develop research on the most effective type and duration of massage at one acupressure point to speed up the duration of labor.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has doubled the number of women reaching abnormal levels of anxiety. The prevalence of anxiety disorders during pregnancy, in developed and developing countries is 10% and 25%, respectively. Anxiety during pregnancy, if not prevented, will lead to problems during labor and postpartum, such as abortion, preterm (premature) labor, and even postpartum depression. One of the efforts to reduce the anxiety of pregnant women during a pandemic is to provide appropriate information regarding screening for anxiety triggers so that cadres and pregnant women can detect them as early as possible. The purpose of this community service is to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about screening for anxiety trigger factors in pregnant women during the Covid-19 pandemic and efforts to overcome them. The community service method is carried out by inviting pregnant women and cadres to be given supportive education about the triggers for anxiety in pregnant women during the Covid 19 pandemic and efforts to overcome them. Before being given the material, a pre-test was carried out and after the material was given a post-test was carried out. The results of the pre test obtained 4% of good cadre knowledge, for post test 72% of good cadre knowledge. As for pregnant women, the results of the pre test obtained as much as 52% experienced anxiety in the very severe category. After being given the material, pregnant women with anxiety in the very severe category were reduced to 32%.
