Abstract

This study explores the impact of incorporating the stylistic method and diverse pedagogical approaches on students' understanding and appreciation of literary works, specifically focusing on the works of Charles Dickens. This research used a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative methods such as observation, surveys, and text analysis with quantitative methods involving statistical analysis. The quasi-experimental design selected undergraduate students purposively based on their literary background, with Charles Dickens' notable works serving as key resources. Pre and post-tests are administered to experimental and control groups to measure the impact of language style instruction. Results indicate that the experimental group, exposed to language style teaching, outperforms the control group in post-teaching comprehension tests. Studies show that teaching students about language styles helps them unlock the meaning of literature. Questionnaire data demonstrate high student satisfaction, increased confidence, improved critical thinking, and enhanced analytical abilities. The adaptability of Dickens's novels to various learning styles contributes to a more inclusive learning environment.

Abstract

This research focuses on discussing the self-actualization of the main character in the novel Dear Nathan by Erisca Febriani, and its implications as a character shaper for students. This research is in the form of qualitative descriptive research. The theory used is Carl Rogers' publicist psychology. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and presentation of data in the form of sentences and novel quotations. The research results show that the two main characters in the novel succeeded in achieving their self-actualization. Their character is formed from the experiences and realities they have to live with, which ultimately leads them to success and freedom for their existence. The main character's achievement of self-actualization is proven by the character Nathan who recovers from past trauma and becomes a campus activist. Meanwhile, for the character Salma, self-actualization is proven by Salma returning to writing and realizing her dream as a writer. He studied Indonesian literature with full support from his parents. The value of character in the self-actualization of the main character must be taught and instilled in students in literature learning as it has implications for character development. The application of character values in the self-actualization of the main character in the novel, as well as its implications as a learning medium are realized through Indonesian language teaching activities using the Merdeka Curriculum. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini berfokus membahas aktualisasi diri tokoh utama dalam novel Dear Nathan karya Erisca Febriani, dan implikasinya sebagai pembentuk karakter peserta didik. Penelitian ini berupa penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teori yang digunakan ialah psikologi humanistik milik Carl Rogers. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif analisis dan penyajian data berupa kalimat dan kutipan novel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dua tokoh utama dalam novel berhasil mencapai aktualisasi diri mereka. Karakter mereka terbentuk atas pengalaman dan realitas yang harus mereka jalani, yang pada akhirnya menuntun mereka pada keberhasilan dan kebebasan atas eksistensi diri mereka. Pencapaian aktualisasi diri tokoh utama dibuktikan dengan tokoh Nathan yang sembuh atas trauma masa lalu dan menjadi salah satu aktivis kampus. Sedangkan pada tokoh Salma, aktualisasi diri dibuktikan dengan Salma yang kembali menulis, dan mewujudkan impiannya sebagai seorang penulis. Ia menempuh pendidikan sastra Indonesia dengan dukungan penuh dari orang tuanya. Adapun nilai karakter dalam aktualisasi diri tokoh utama harus diajarkan dan ditanamkan kepada peserta didik dalam pembelajaran sastra sebagaimana implikasinya terhadap pengembangan karakter. Aplikasi dari nilai karakter dalam aktualisasi diri tokoh utama dalam novel, serta implikasinya sebagai media pembelajaran diwujudkan melalui kegiatan pengajaran Bahasa Indonesia menggunakan Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Kecakapan membaca secara integratif merupakan hal yang krusial bagi mahasiswa kefarmasian di era industri 5.0 sehingga perlu dilakukan upaya peningkatan kecakapan tersebut dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Urgensi penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur keefektivan prototipe pengembangan model E-Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (E-CIRC) sebagai penunjang peningkatan kecakapan membaca. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk menguji coba kefektifan model E-Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (E-CIRC) dalam pembelajaran membaca. Model Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (E-CIRC) memiliki delapan tahap, yaitu (1) E-teams; (2) E-placement test; (3) E-students creative; (4) E-teams study; (5) E-tim scorer and team recognition; (6) E-teaching group; (7) E-fact test; dan (8) E-whole-class unit. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif dan kuasi eksperimen dengan memakai kelas matakuliah Bahasa Indonesia yang terjadwal di Akademi Farmasi Surabaya. Variabel bebas penelitian ini prototipe model pembelajaran E-Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (E-CIRC). Variabel terikat penelitian ini peningkatan kecakapan membaca. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 44 mahasiswa Akademi Farmasi Surabaya kelas B2-21. Instrumen data penelitian ini meliputi (1) angket dan (2) skor tes. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini memakai teknik analisis data kualitatif (skala Likert) dan kuantitatif (pre tes, treatment, pos tes, uji ANOVA menggunakan SPSS 24 for Windows dengan dasar pengambilan keputusan menggunakan taraf signifikansi < 0,05.

Abstract

The purpose of this Community Service activity is to provide knowledge and skills to the students of Pondok Pesantren Madrasatul Qur'an Tebuireng Jombang which includes: (1) Indonesian spelling, (2) sentence writing, (3) translation techniques, and (4) skills in using computers in the translation process. The specific targets to be achieved are that the students can (1) translate Arabic text into Indonesian using good and correct Indonesian (2) can use computers in the process of translating Arabic text into good and correct Indonesian. The methods used were lectures, questions and answers, assignments, and practice translating Arabic text into Indonesian using a computer. The results of this PKM activity are that the students of Pondok Pesantren Madrasatul Qur'an Tebuireng Jombang have mastered and have skills that include: (1) Indonesian spelling, (2) sentence writing, (3) translation techniques, (4) translating Arabic text into Indonesian using good and correct Indonesian, and (5) being able to use computers in the process of translating Arabic text into good and correct Indonesian.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to analyze the intrinsic elements in the novel Makrifat Cinta by Candra Malik, focusing on how these elements interact to convey Sufi values, while also situating them within the broader context of literary discourse. Method: This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a structuralism approach. The analysis was conducted systematically in several stages, beginning with the identification of the intrinsic elements in the novel, including theme, plot, characters, point of view, and language style. Results: The results of the analysis show that the main theme of this novel is the spiritual journey of humans to know God through love (mahabbah) as a path to ma'rifah (knowledge of God). The storyline uses a mixed plot, which moves forward and backward, reflecting a non-linear spiritual journey. The characters in the novel represent Sufistic concepts, where the main character places God as the ultimate goal of his life. The point of view used is first person (confession), giving emotional and spiritual depth to the reader. The language style used combines Indonesian with Sufistic terms and symbolic metaphors, emphasizing the deep meaning of the spiritual journey. Novelty: This research lies in the application of Structuralism Theory to examine the connection between the text's structure and the Sufi values presented. This approach offers a valuable contribution to Indonesian literary studies by focusing on the Sufi dimensions, a perspective that is seldom explored in structuralism theory.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik realisme magis dan motif mistisisme yang ternarasikan dalam novel KKN di Desa Penari (KDP) karya Simpleman dan mengimplikasikan novel KDP dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SMA. Penelitian ini memanfaatkan teori realisme magis Faris dan mistisisme Mulder. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan metode deskriptif analitik dan metode analisis isi (content analysis). Sumber data dalam penelitian, yakni novel KDP karya Simpleman sedangkan data yang dianalisis berupa satuan sintaksis dan wacana yang memuat karakteristik realisme magis dan motif mistisisme dalam novel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa realisme magis dalam novel tergambarkan melalui interaksi karakteristik seperti irreducible element, phenomenal world, unsettling doubt, merging realism, serta gangguan waktu, ruang, dan identitas yang saling mempengaruhi. Sementara itu, mistisisme dalam novel KDP digambarkan melalui tindakan dan kepercayaan tokoh yang positif, seperti penghormatan kepada leluhur dan berkonsultasi dengan dukun untuk mencapai kesucian dan pemahaman hidup yang lebih dalam. Novel ini memperkuat kepercayaan masyarakat Jawa terhadap mitos dan hal-hal magis, serta mengenalkan kompleksitas budaya dan kepercayaan lokal kepada pembaca, bahkan merombaknya. Sementara itu, implikasi karakteristik realisme magis dan motif mistisisme dalam pembelajaran di SMA mencakup identifikasi unsur intrinsik dan analisis nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam novel

Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the exclusion process in the shooting of Brigadier Joshua, (2) describe the inclusion process in the shooting of Brigadier Joshua. Criminal news is used as an object of research in the field of language, especially discourse analysis. Theo Van Leeweun's discourse analysis model introduces the way a person (actor) is marginalized in a discourse. This research is limited to Deddy Corbuzier's Youtube podcast video discussing the shooting case of Brigadier Joshua. The results of this study found two exclusion processes, namely passivation and nominalization, while the five inclusion processes include differentiation-differentiation, objectivation-abstraction, nomination-categorization, nomination-identification, and determination-indetermination. So it can be concluded that in this video podcast, the actor is marginalized by exclusion because of the actor's relationship involved in the Brigadier Joshua shooting case. While inclusionary marginalization is carried out to maintain the good name of government agencies that are known to be clean and care for the community.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Literature learning has great potential to build students' character, especially in instilling the value of social care. This value involves awareness of social conditions and concrete actions to support the common welfare. This research aims to explore strategies for integrating the value of social care in literature learning. Using the literature study method, this research analyzes various relevant theories, concepts, and practices related to integrating social values through literature. The results show that literature can be an effective medium to instill the value of social care, especially through works that raise the themes of justice, solidarity, and life struggles. Integration strategies can be carried out through the selection of relevant literary works, critical analysis of content and moral messages, group discussions, and social literacy projects that involve students in understanding and responding to social issues. This finding confirms that literature learning does not only function as a means of developing aesthetics and language skills, but also as an instrument of character education that can shape young people who are empathetic and care about their environment. Therefore, a more structured and collaborative approach is needed to optimize the role of literature in building social awareness through education. ABSTRAK Pembelajaran sastra memiliki potensi besar untuk membangun karakter peserta didik, khususnya dalam menanamkan nilai kepedulian sosial. Nilai ini melibatkan kesadaran terhadap kondisi sosial dan tindakan konkret untuk mendukung kesejahteraan bersama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi strategi integrasi nilai kepedulian sosial dalam pembelajaran sastra. Menggunakan metode kualitatif studi kepustakaan, penelitian ini menganalisis berbagai teori, konsep, dan praktik yang relevan terkait pengintegrasian nilai-nilai sosial melalui sastra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sastra mampu menjadi medium yang efektif untuk menanamkan nilai kepedulian sosial, terutama melalui karya-karya yang mengangkat tema keadilan, solidaritas, dan perjuangan hidup. Strategi integrasi dapat dilakukan melalui pemilihan karya sastra yang relevan, analisis kritis terhadap isi dan pesan moral, diskusi kelompok, serta proyek literasi sosial yang melibatkan peserta didik dalam memahami dan merespons isu-isu sosial. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pembelajaran sastra tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sarana pengembangan estetika dan keterampilan berbahasa, tetapi juga sebagai instrumen pendidikan karakter yang dapat membentuk generasi muda yang empatik dan peduli terhadap lingkungannya. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pendekatan yang lebih terstruktur dan kolaboratif untuk mengoptimalkan peran sastra dalam membangun kepedulian sosial melalui pendidikan.

Abstract

Saat ini, dosen-dosen di UNISKA masih membutuhkan penguatan tentang case method dan team based project. Hal ini penting untuk meningkatkan SDM mahasiswa dan menunjang capaian IKU UNISKA. PKM ini bertujuan memberdayaan kompetensi dosen UNISKA melalui case method dan team-based project”. Metode yang dilakukan yaitu diskusi, workshop, pendampingan, dan refleksi. Diskusi dilakukan untuk mencari solusi yang dihadapi dosen-dosen tentang case method dan team based project. Workshop dilakukan untuk melatih para dosen merancang pembelajaran dan mengimplementasikan case method dan team based project, kegiatan secara luring telah dilakukan tanggal 20—21 Mei 2024. Pendampingan dilakukan secara online untuk konsutasi dan presentasi hasil revisi produk perangkat ajar berbasis case method dan team based project Juni samai dengan Oktober 2024. Hasil PKM ini terbukti signifikan meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta dalam menerapkan case method dan team based project.

Abstract

In Sufi literary works, symbols, metaphors, and allegories are often presented that describe the relationship between humans and God, as well as human efforts to overcome the ego (nafs), achieve wisdom, and purify the soul. This study aims to describe the character of a Salik. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with the category of library research. The data sources for this study are two novels by Candra Malik (CM), namely (1) Layla A Thousand Nights Without You and (2) Majnun Because You Meet Layla. The data used in this study are in the form of words, phrases, paragraphs, discourses that indicate the author's narrative, dialogue between characters, and setting paintings. The data collection method is a literature study. The data obtained are read, listened to, recorded, concluded, and studied written sources that serve as a theoretical basis and reference in their relationship to the object being studied. The data analysis technique in this study is phenomenological hermeneutics initiated by Paul Ricoeur. The data validity test process uses multimethod triangulation. The research results show that a spiritual seeker possesses character formed through his or her inner journey toward God. The Salik's characteristics identified in this study are humility, patience, humility, sincerity, and obedience.
