Abstract

Families with children with special needs (ABK) face complex relationships among family members. This often becomes a stressor that impacts parental resilience. Resilience is a form of ability of parents with special needs to overcome difficulties or problems caused by the presence and condition of children with special needs. Strength-Based Counseling is a counseling approach that uses a positive psychology approach and emphasizes the strengths of an individual or group of people. Strength-based counseling is considered more appropriate for today's era, due to its practicality and emphasis on positive aspects. This research is a case study, with research methods including observation, and interviews. Resilience is a crucial aspect of an individual's life, especially for parents of children with special needs. This study demonstrates that through the application of strengths-based counseling, parents of children with special needs gain reinforcement in their protective factors, thereby increasing their resilience. The results indicate that the use of strengths-based counseling can make parents of children with special needs feel better understood, more confident, and receive help and support, thereby increasing their resilience.

Abstract

This study developed and validated human capital, work culture, and job satisfaction scales for higher education institutions in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A bibliometric and literature review was used to identify key constructs related to human resource development, organizational culture, and employee well-being in higher education. The scale development process followed an adapted model through pre-development, development, and post-development stages. The instruments were tested with 42 lecturers and educational staff working at an Indonesian university in Indonesia. Item validity and Cronbach’s Alpha reliability analyses showed that human capital, work culture, and job satisfaction items met acceptable psychometric standards. These findings indicate that validated instruments are needed to assess institutional human resources systematically. The scales can support data-driven institutional human resource development.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to analyze the influence of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Project-Based Learning (PJBL) models, as well as learning styles (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic), on the geography learning outcomes of Grade X students at SMA Bhakti Mandala Nabire. The background of this research is grounded in the importance of geography instruction that adapts to the development of constructivist learning theories and the diversity of students’ learning styles. This study employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a 3 × 2 factorial model. The sample consists of 30 students divided into two experimental groups based on the learning models and learning styles identified through the VAK questionnaire. Data were collected using pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The results reveal that both the learning model and learning style significantly affect students' learning outcomes (p < 0.05). Furthermore, a significant interaction between learning models and learning styles was found in relation to geography learning outcomes. The PJBL model produced more stable outcomes across different learning styles, while PBL proved more effective for visual learners. Visual learners achieved the highest overall scores. These findings highlight the importance of differentiated instructional strategies that align with students' learning characteristics. The study provides both theoretical and practical contributions to the development of adaptive, student-centered geography curricula.

Abstract

Character education is an essential effort in shaping students to become individuals with good morals, particularly through strengthening the value of discipline. Schools play a strategic role in fostering students’ disciplinary character, one of which is through Scout extracurricular activities. This study aims to examine in depth the implementation of disciplinary character values through Scout extracurricular activities in fifth-grade elementary school students, along with the supporting and inhibiting factors. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, field notes, and documentation involving Scout instructors, fifth-grade classroom teachers, and fifth-grade students. The findings reveal that Scout extracurricular activities contribute to the implementation of disciplinary character through students’ compliance with rules, adherence to instructors’ directions, and responsibility in completing tasks. Supporting factors include cooperation among school members, instructors’ firmness, and adequate facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consist of differences in students’ motivation levels and limited activity time. The study concludes that Scout extracurricular activities are effective in fostering students’ disciplinary character when supported by consistent guidance and a conducive school environment.

Abstract

The low utilization of digital technology in elementary school learning largely stems from a weak culture of knowledge sharing among teachers, not solely from limited resources. This community service activity aims to optimize the digital literacy of elementary school teachers and students by establishing a teacher learning community as a platform for ongoing mentoring. The activity was implemented through five stages: needs mapping, learning community formation, gradual training, collaborative practice between teachers, and reflective evaluation. The target group included classroom teachers and students at a partner elementary school. The results of the activity demonstrated an increase in teachers' digital competency, not only individual but also through the process of sharing good practices among teachers in community forums. Students also demonstrated improved digital literacy skills, particularly in recognizing trustworthy information. In conclusion, the mentoring model based on a teacher learning community has proven to be an effective and sustainable strategy for optimizing digital literacy to improve the quality of learning in elementary schools.
