Abstract

Abstract

Background: Blood sugar levels are sugar found in the blood which is formed from carbohydrates in food and stored as glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscles. Long-term (chronic) hyperglycemia can cause microvascular complications such as kidney and eye disease as well as neurovascular complications. One non-pharmacological treatment for blood sugar levels can use green tea plants. Green tea does not undergo a fermentation process so that the substances contained in green tea have not undergone a change process. The main content of green tea is epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which is a bioactive ingredient that suppresses the pathogenicity of several chronic diseases, especially cardiovascular disease. Objective: To determine the effect of green tea consumption on blood sugar levels. Method: This type of research is quantitative research using correlational methods. The sample for this study used a non-probability sampling technique, namely 30. Respondents were given green tea treatment. Give 5 grams of dried green tea leaves each and add 200ml water and drink while warm every day for 1 week in a row. The analysis used is the Paired Sample T-test for the univariate test while the bivariate test uses the Independent Sample T-test. Results: The average blood sugar level before being given green tea was 253.07 mg/dl and the average blood sugar level after being given green tea was 207.07 mg/dl. Conclusion: There is an effect of green tea consumption on blood sugar levels of 37,733 mg/dl with a ρ value of 0.000 < ɑ 0.05.

Abstract

Background: Dengue fever (DF) is a tropical disease that remains a significant global public health concern. One of the contributing factors to its persistence is the lack of health literacy and public awareness. Health education programs implemented in schools can play a vital role in improving students’ knowledge about dengue fever prevention, promoting better hygiene practices, and ensuring that school environments remain free of mosquito breeding sites. Aim: This study aimed to determine the effect of audiovisual-based health education on elementary school students’ health literacy regarding dengue fever prevention. Method: A quasi-experimental pre–post-test design with a control group was employed. The study was conducted at SD Negeri Plaosan 01 in November 2024, involving 25 participants in each group selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a dengue fever prevention health literacy questionnaire, which demonstrated validity values ranging from 0.412 to 0.774 and a reliability coefficient of 0.828. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Rank Test and the Mann–Whitney U test. Results: Audiovisual-based health education significantly improved the health literacy of elementary school students concerning dengue fever prevention. After the intervention, all students in the intervention group (100%) demonstrated good health literacy, compared to 92% in the control group. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.000; p < 0.05), indicating the high effectiveness of audiovisual media in enhancing students’ understanding. Conclusion:  Audiovisual-based health education effectively increases students’ knowledge and awareness of dengue fever prevention. Students who have gained this knowledge are expected to apply preventive behaviors, such as maintaining environmental cleanliness, implementing the 3M Plus strategy, and promoting a healthy, mosquito-free environment.

Abstract

General Background: Gastritis is a common gastrointestinal disorder frequently accompanied by epigastric pain that interferes with patient comfort and daily functioning. Specific Background: Non-pharmacological nursing interventions such as Benson relaxation therapy and guided imagery have been individually applied to manage pain in gastritis patients, particularly in primary healthcare settings. Knowledge Gap: However, empirical evidence examining the combined application of Benson therapy and guided imagery as a structured intervention in community health centers remains limited. Aims: This study aimed to examine the outcomes of a combined Benson therapy and guided imagery intervention on pain levels among gastritis patients at a primary healthcare center. Results: Using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design with 32 participants, the intervention group demonstrated a marked shift from moderate–severe pain to predominantly mild pain after the intervention, while the control group receiving pain management education showed a smaller reduction. Statistical analysis indicated significant pre–post differences within the intervention group and significant differences between groups after intervention. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in the standardized combination of Benson relaxation and guided imagery implemented as a single nursing intervention package in a primary care context. Implications: These findings support the integration of combined Benson therapy and guided imagery into routine nursing care as a feasible, safe, and low-cost non-pharmacological approach for managing gastritis-related pain in primary healthcare services. Highlights • Demonstrated pain level shift toward mild categories following combined relaxation intervention• Showed significant differences between intervention and education-only groups• Supported structured non-pharmacological nursing care in primary health centers Keywords Benson Therapy; Guided Imagery; Gastritis Pain; Non Pharmacological Nursing; Primary Health Care

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that often causes psychological stress, one of which is anxiety. Anxiety in people with diabetes can worsen health conditions and hinder the healing process. Non-pharmacological therapies such as benson relaxation therapy and Surah Ar-Rahman's murotal therapy are suspected to have the potential to lower anxiety levels based on several previous study results. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of benzon and murottal therapy on the anxiety level of patients with diabetes mellitus. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a pre test and post test control group design approach in one intervention group. There were 52 respondents, of which each group would get 26 respondents who were selected through purposive sampling techniques. Benson and murotal therapy interventions were given for 7 consecutive days with a duration of 10-15 minutes. Anxiety levels were measured before and after the intervention using the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale questionnaire with a total of 21 questions. The results and discussion were obtained based on the Sapiro Wilk test and the T-test with the Paired Samples Test. The results of the analysis showed that the relaxation therapy of benson and murotal Surah Ar-Rahman had a significant effect on the anxiety level of Diabetes Mellitus patients in the Kaliwungu Health Center area, with a p-value of 0.001 (p<0.05). Meanwhile, the results of the comparison of the intervention group and the control group were with a p-value of >0.0001. The results of this study strengthen the theory that relaxation and spirituality-based nonpharmacological interventions are able to influence psychological responses, particularly in lowering anxiety levels.
