Abstract

ABSTRACT Communication Communication between trainers and students at the Pincuk Dance Studio shows that students' lack of confidence in facing artistic performances can affect their concentration during practice. Some students feel afraid and anxious when they have to appear in front of many people, which has an impact on their learning process. The purpose of this research is to identify and analyze trainers' communication styles that can increase students' self-confidence in facing art performances. Thisresearch uses the theory of empathic and assertive communication styles, which emphasizes the importance of an open and empathetic relationship between trainers and students to create a conducive learning environment. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method, using interview techniques, observation, to collect data. It is hoped that the research results will provide a deeper understanding of effective communication styles in increasing students' self-confidence in performing arts and training environments. Abstract

Communication style impacts a person’s relationships, both in their career and personal social life, and also affects emotional well-being. It enables individuals to work on aspects that may be considered either good or bad. Communication style can observe and follow various events that occur between people through various media, including in the success of a film production. The film Joko Songo is a fictional film produced by Bakar Production and directed by Dwi Mustanto. The production process of Joko Songo is interesting because most of those involved, including the director, did not come from a filmmaking background. This research can also serve as evidence that communication style plays a crucial role in the creative process, particularly in filmmaking. The research in this thesis uses descriptive research with a qualitative method. This qualitative descriptive method has natural characteristics, meaning it is developed based on real conditions in the field. The sampling technique in this research uses purposive sampling (judgmental sampling). Purposive sampling is a sampling method used by researchers by considering the characteristics of the audience that have been previously identified. Based on the research findings, the director used the open communication style from Norton’s theory. Through this open communication style, the director exhibited different characteristics but had a positive impact that helped improve the director’s performance in the filmmaking process. Abstract

This research aims determine the digital marketing communications of Pokdarwis in increasing the number of visitor on Bukit Sosogan Kabupaten Karanganyar. The data collection and research process for this thesis was carried out from may to june 2024 with three sources. The thesis data collection technique was carried out using observation and qualitative interviews with sources related to Bukit Sosogan digital marketing communications. The result of research and interviews show that management has maximized Bukit Sosogan marketing communications using social media Instagram and Youtube, but the Bukit Sosogan maangement has not maximized interaction with followers on the Youtube social media platform.

Abstract

Film is a mass communication medium whose message is very effective in spreading. Korean dramas are one of the films that are popular with Indonesian people because of the Korean Wave or Hallyu as the spread of South Korean culture. The Good Bad Mother is a Korean drama film that depicts the learning patterns of single parents in educating their children to success. However, this parenting style has become a debate among viewers on social media. The purpose of this research is to find out and identify the true meaning of the mother's learning parenting scene single parent which is found in Korean drama films The Good Bad Mother. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative using Roland Barthes' Semiotic theory which contains elements of denotation, connotation and myth. Thedata collection technique in this research is to examine documents in theform of parenting learning scenes in films. The result of this research is toidentify and describe scenes of single parent mothers' learning parentingpatterns using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis in the form of denotation,connotation and myth. From the results of this research it can be concludedthat the mother's learning parenting style single parent in Korean dramasThe Good Bad Mother authoritarian who always forces children to studyand forces children to work as prosecutors but also acts firm and disciplinedaccording to Confucian teachings in South Korea. Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the influence of brand image, advertising and product quality on purchasing decisions for Emina products. This research was conducted in the Communication Science environment, Faculty of Social Sciences, Slamet Riyadi University, Surakarta, which has used or used Emina products. This research uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory method. The sampling technique in this research uses simple random sampling and the total sample of Communication Science students used in this research is 100 students. The results of the research in this thesis show that the t-value of brand image has a positive and significant effect of 2.49 with a p-value of 0.014 <0.05 on purchasing decisions. Advertising has a positive and significant effect of 2.255 with a p-value of 0.026 <0.05 on purchasing decisions. Product quality has a positive and significant effect of 4.803 with a p-value of 0.000 <0.05 on purchasing decisions. Meanwhile, the results of the f-calculated value of brand image, advertising, product quality have a positive and significant effect of 67,857 with a p-value of 0.000 <0.05 on purchasing decisions. Abstract

This research aims to uncover the true meaning of the word "mulatto" in the lyrics of the song"Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana. The research method used in this study is qualitativedescriptive research. The semiotic analysis theory used is the semiotic analysis of Ferdinand deSaussure. The concepts used in this research are signifier and signified. The signifier is the word"mulatto" in the lyrics of the song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana. Meanwhile, thesignified functions to represent the concept of the signifier, which in this case is the actualmeaning. The relationship between the signifier and the signified must be connected to each otherin order to produce meaning from the sign. This research seeks the true meaning of the term"mulatto" by examining three interpretations. The interpretation obtained from primary andsecondary data. Meanwhile, the data collection techniques used are documentation study andliterature study. The interpretations obtained include the word "mulatto" as an alcohol, drugs,and race. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of brand reputation and electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) with brand trust as a moderation on purchasing decisions on the TikTok Shop application. This study focuses on seeing the re-emergence of the TikTok Shop application for consumers. Employing a quantitative descriptive methodology, this study is categorized as explanatory, aiming to clarify whether there is an influence between those two phenomena. The methodology research is a survey. The population of this study was active male and female students of Slamet Riyadi University, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Class of 2023, while the sample was 100 male and female students of Slamet Riyadi University, Surakarta, who purchased products on the TikTok Shop application. Data collection encompasses both primary and secondary data sources. Multiple linear regression analysis is employed for data analysis, complementing the absolute difference test for robustness. The results of the study show that partially brand reputation has a significant effect of 0.015, electronic word of mouth and brand trust of 0.000, while brand reputation on purchasing decisions moderated by brand trust is 0.446 and electronic word of mouth on purchasing decisions moderated by brand trust is 0.559. So, brand reputation, e-WOM and brand trust have significant influence to purchasing decision, while brand reputation and e-WOM on purchasing decision by brand trust in TikTok Shop application are not proven because Ho is accepted.

Abstract

Keterampilan komunikasi antarbudaya sangatlah penting di berbagai sektor kehidupan. Maka dari itu keterampilan ini harus dimiliki siapapun tidak terkecuali mahasiswa perantau khususnya anggota Ikatan Mahasiswa Bata-Bata (IMABA) Yogyakarta. Tujuan pengabdian ini untuk memberikan pemahaman tentang komunikasi antarbudaya secara luas dan efektif serta memberikan pemahaman tentang bagaimana mengelola culture shock dan cara berkomunikasi antarbudaya yang efektif saat mengalami culture shock. Metode pengabdian ini memberikan sosialisasi kepada mahasiswa baru (IMABA) Yogyakarta dengan 35 peserta yang dikemas dengan bentuk FGD (Focus Group Discussion). Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini, tim menilai bahwa pengabdian ini telah berjalan sesuai dengan yang direncanakan. Hal ini bisa dilihat dari mahasiswa baru yang mengikuti sosialisasi ini semakin menghargai perbedaan budaya dan pandai berkomunikasi antarbudaya termasuk dalam mengelola culture shock. Dampak pemahaman mahasiswa IMABA Yogyakarta terhadap komunikasi antarbudaya dan culture shock tentu sangat bermanfaat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

The klitih phenomenon is an act of violence or criminality committed by children or adolescents, which has become a social problem that disturbs the local community. One of the klitih phenomena occurs in Pokak Village, Ceper District, Klaten Regency. Where the city of Klaten is one of the cities that has high crime in Central Java, and the majority of the perpetrators of criminal acts are teenagers who are still in school education. Researchers are interested in examining the communication experience of children who commit klitih. This study aims to describe social communication in the Communication Experience of Klitih's Child Perpetrators. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach that aims to explore phenomena related to the communication experience of children who commit klitih. Data collection in this study was carried out through interviews with klitih perpetrators, parents, and siblings as well as observation and documentation to support the interview results. The results of this study found that children who commit klitih tend to have communication experiences that are influenced by negative factors from their social environment, such as peer group pressure, lack of emotional support from family, and lack of positive interaction in the community. Abstract

This research aims to reveal the meaning of the word jancuk in the film Lara Ati by Bayu Skak through Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. The word jancuk in the context of this film is often used as an informal term and has different connotations depending on the context. The data collection technique is in the form of documentation, namely using scenes in the film Lara Ati which show the use of the word jancuk. The research results show that the word jancuk in the film Lara Ati not only functions as a curse, but also as a greeting and a symbol of closeness in friendships. Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis helps understand how the word jancuk becomes a complex sign, containing diverse and changing meanings depending on the context. Thus, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of how symbols in the media can provide complex and varied meanings, as well as how semiotic analysis can be used to reveal these meanings.
