Abstract

Background: Rodent-borne disease control relies on reservoir control is rodent animals. Controlling techniques are urgent to do, such as biopesticide use. The use of biopesticide should be developed to reduce the negative impact of chemical rodenticides. Manihot esculenta have cyanogenic glycosides with antifeedant effects. The potential of biopesticide used for pest management. Methods: Block bait consumption of cassava (Manihot esculenta) on body weight of Mus musculus L. was carried out an experimental rat. The objective of the test was to observe the direct effect of cassava block bait on mice. The animal model was divided into six treatment groups (5.75%; 11.5%; 23%; 46%; 92%; 184%) with control. Each treatment group was repeated 5 times. Treatment was given during the 14 days orally. The parameters that were obtained are feed consumption and body weight.Result: This experiment showed that there was a difference in feed consumption and on body weight mice in all animal model groups. Conclusion: It concluded that block bait of cassava (Manihot esculenta) in different concentrations has an antifeedant effect, causing alteration on feed consumed and body weight of Mus musculus L.

Abstract

Background: According to UNICEF, half of all deaths of children are caused by malnutrition. The conventional anthropometric index to measure nutritional status is unable to measure the overall prevalence of malnutrition and multiple malnutrition. The solution is to measure it using the Composite Index of Anthropomeric Failure (CIAF). The aim of the study was to analyze the factors that affect the nutritional status of children aged 0-23 months based on Composite Index of Anthropomeric Failure (CIAF).Methods: This research was an observational analytic study with cross-sectional study design. This research was conducted in the working area of Karangayu Health Center with 231 study sample of mothers who have 0-23 months old children (population used as sample). Chi-square and fisher exact test were used as statistical test.Result: Factors associated with the nutritional status of children aged 0-23 months based on the Composite Index of Anthropometric Failure (CIAF) were the age of the child (p=0,029); birth length (p=0.005); maternal age during pregnancy (p=0.002); maternal height (p=0.025); gestational age of maternal (p=0.049). While factors unassociated were gender (p=0.997), birth weight (p=0.316), nutritional status of the mother during pregnancy (p=0.232), maternal employment (p=0.614), and education level (p=0.951).Conclusion: Age of child, birth length, maternal age during pregnancy, mother’s height, and gestational age of maternity mothers were factors associated with nutritional status of 0-23 months old children based on CIAF. A dominant factor that affected the nutritional status of children aged 0-23 months was the mother's age during pregnancy.

Abstract

Abstract

DHF is a contagious disease that has become a priority public health problem in Indonesia. DHF is transmitted through female Aedes spp. Carrying the dengue virus in her body. There were 107 cases and one death in Pati Regency, the purpose of this study was to map the distribution of dengue cases and conduct a survey of Aedes spp larvae and determine the type of Aedes spp mosquito vector in the area of dengue cases that died in Wedarijaksa District. This study used a descriptive observational method with a cross sectional research design and was carried out in August - November 2020. The samples of this study were all dengue fever incidence houses in Wedarijaksa Village and houses potentially affected by dengue. From the results obtained, cases have a group pattern and the average larvae are found in the bathtub in the residents' houses. The risk of transmission in Wedarijaksa Village is classified as moderate because DF> 1 (DF = 3,3), HI> 1, BI <50%. All of the mosquito larvae found were Aedes aegypti.
