Abstract

Background: Antibiotics are used in phytosanitary care, fish farming, and as veterinary drugs, where they can also be used as preventative or curative treatments in livestock management. Inappropriate dosage and/or inappropriate use of antibiotics can result in residues. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of AMIRA postlit cadres regarding antibiotic use in livestock. Methods: This study is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were all AMIRA Poslit cadres, totaling 55 respondents. The bivariate analysis used was the Chi-Square test to analyze the relationship between respondents' knowledge and attitudes with antibiotic use behavior.Result: A total of 92.7% of respondents had a good level of knowledge, while the remaining 7.3% of respondents had a poor level of knowledge in the use of antibiotics. A total of 49.1% of respondents had a good attitude while the remaining 50.9% of respondents had a bad attitude. 50.9% of respondents had a supportive attitude, while the remaining 49.1% of respondents had an unsupportive attitude. There was no relationship between respondents' knowledge and antibiotic use behavior (p = 0.282), while respondents' attitudes were related to antibiotic use behavior in livestock (p = 0.005).Conclusion : The knowledge of AMIRA Poslit cadres is not related to the behavior of antibiotic use in livestock farming, while the cadres' attitudes are related.

Abstract

Background : Katingan Regency has experienced an increase in dengue fever cases in Central Kalimantan Province over the past three years, from 2020 to 2023, with an incidence rate in 2023 of 168.4 per 100,000 population and a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of 0.66%. This is due to the Maya Index, which is a potential breeding ground for Aedes sp mosquitoes, remaining a problem. Therefore, research will be conducted to detect the Maya Index of Aedes sp mosquitoes in dengue fever endemic areas in Katingan Regency. Methods : This study was conducted using an observational research method with a cross-sectional approach in April 2024. The population in this study consisted of all cases of dengue fever in January–February 2024, with a sample size of 113 samples. The sampling technique used was random sampling. Data were obtained through direct observation and observation of the home environment using the visual larval method.Result : The Breeding Risk Index (BRI) was in the moderate category, with 52 (46%) homes, while the Hygiene Risk Index (HRI) was also in the moderate category, with 55 (48.7%) homes. in dengue endemic areas, it is in the moderate category (BRI 2/HRI 2), which is 27 (23.9%) houses. Most houses in dengue endemic areas in Katingan Regency are in the high Maya Index status, which is 51 (45.1%) houses. Conclusion : Houses with low to moderate BRI will have less potential for having positive larval containers than houses with high BRI. Houses with low to moderate HRI have higher positive larval containers than houses with high HRI.

Abstract

Background : The prevalence of STH in Central Java reached 33.8%, with Ascaris lumbricoides found in toddlers living in areas with poor sanitation. The Bandarharjo Community Health Center is one of the community health centers in Semarang City that serves coastal areas. The objective of this study was to determine the correlation between STH infection and personal hygiene in children under five years of age at the Bandarharjo Community Health Center in Semarang. Methods : This was an observational study using the cross-sectional design. A total of 150 subject were obtained from children under five years in the field area of Bandarharjo Primary Healthcare. STH examination was conducted through kato-katz method, while the personal hygiene was observing by diung an interview to the children parents. Statistic analyzed used Chi-Square test.Result: The prevalence of soil-transmitted helminths (STH) in the Bandarharjo Community Health Center working area reached 82.6%, with hookworm and Ascaris lumbricoides due to poor sanitation. There is a correlation between the habit of wearing sandals and washing hands with soap and STH infection (p-value > 0.000) & (p-value > 0.038). Respondents who did not wash their hands with soap and wore sandals were 5.6 and 2.44 times more likely to be infected, respectively. Conclusion: Poor personal hygiene can increase the risk of STH infection in children under five years of age. Therefore, parents have a role to play in teaching, educating, and accustoming children to always practice healthy behaviors.

Abstract

Introduction: The risk of contracting Dengue can affect anyone, including school students. This fact poses a threat because there is no specific program related to Dengue prevention in the school environment. This study aims to test the effectiveness of HyperText Markup Language 5 (HTML5) with Smart Apps Creator as an interactive medium for dengue prevention integrated into learning. Methods: This research is divided into testing and evaluation stages. The testing stage was conducted through a true experimental design with a Pre-test, Post-test, and Control Group. The evaluation stage was conducted through a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test, and one-group intervention method. The research population was 5th-grade students of public elementary schools. The sample for the testing stage was 35 students for both intervention and control, and the sample for the evaluation stage was 396 students. The research sample was selected using simple random sampling. The research was conducted for 8 weeks. Data were obtained from filling out questionnaires for pre-test, post-test I, and post-test II. Ethical approval was obtained from Bhakti Kencana University ethics committee (98/09.kepK/UBK/VII/2023). Results: There was a significant difference in motivation in the media test and evaluation before and after the intervention through HTML5-based interactive game media with a smart app creator, with a p-value of 0.000. The intervention significantly increased motivation with a p-value of 0.000 compared to the control group in the media test. Likewise, the evaluation results p-value of 0.000. Thus, the intervention was proven effective in increasing motivation. Another indicator of success was that during the 4 weeks of observation, the presence of larvae decreased significantly. Even in the 4th week, no larvae were found in all the containers. Conclusion: The Dengue Prevention through HTML5 Interactive Media with Smart Apps Creator is significantly effective as an intervention because it can significantly increase motivation
