Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan siswa ketika menulis teks recount menggunakan panduan pertanyaan (guided question). Berdasarkan pengalam peneliti selama mengajar, siswa selalu kesulitan untuk mendapatkan ide-ide dalam teks recount. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP N 5 sungai kakap pada tahun akademik 2013/2014. Sedangkan, subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 8 dengan 32 orang sebagai partisipan. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan daftar observasi, tes tertulis, dan catatan lapangan guna mendukung proses pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian ini, menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami peningkatan pada tiap siklus. Siklus pertama nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 61,5. Rata-rata siswa mengalami permasalahan dalam memahami pertanyaan yang digunakan. Namun, lantas meningkat menjadi 75,0 pada siklus kedua. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan guided questions memiliki manfaat bagi peningkatan kemampuan menulis siswa. Kata Kunci: Menulis, Teks Recount, Panduan Pertanyaan Abstract: The objective of this research is to solve student’s problem in writing a recount text by using guided questions. Based on the writer experience during teaching, the students were difficult to get ideas in recount text. The methodology of this research is a classroom action research which consists of 2 cycles. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 5 Sungai Kakap in the academic year 2013/2014. The subject of this research was the eighth grade students. The number of participants in this research was 32 students. In completing the research, the researcher used the observation, written test and field note as the instruments of collecting the data. The result of this research has shown that the students have improvement in writing in each cycle. First cycle was 61.5. Most of the students had problem in understanding the question words used. But, it improved in the second cycle which was 75.0. In conclusion, the use of guided questions had a value in improving the students’ recount text writing. Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to identify extent the use of animation movie with text in teaching vocabulary for speaking. The population of the research was the eighth grade students of SMP N 2 Pontianak in the academic 2016/2017 which VIII D as the sample. The researcher conducted a pre-experimental. The research finding showed the total of the pre-test about vocabulary for speaking was 1975 with the mean score 53.37 and it was categorized as “Poor to Average”. Furthermore, the total score of post-test was 2850 with the mean score 77.02 and it was categorized as “Average to Good”.  Based on the data analysis, it was found that the effect size this research is 1.57, which categorized as “High Effect”. It can be concluded that the use of animation movie with text can improves the students’ vocabulary for speaking significantly. Keyword: Animation Movie, Vocabulary, Speaking

Abstract

AbstractThe main focus of this research is to find out the moral values of the novel “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” by J.K. Rowling based on the major characters. Major characters are the most important actors or people in the novel and they are Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Albus Dumbledore, Hagrid and Professor Snape. One of the key factors that distinguish character from personality is called moral values. Moral values are the things right or wrong in the story which refer to the behavior and the attitude of characters that is giving advices or lessons. The researcher had conducted this research by applying descriptive qualitative method, for describing manner or behavior through quotation of speech or dialogue and action.  According to the result, there are some moral values found in this novel, they are courage, cleverness, friendly, kindness, patient, politeness, responsibility, self-dicipline, trusworthiness, and wisdom. Those moral values above, can be applied in teaching and learning process, especially for the students in English Education Study Program. Keywords: Analysis, Moral values, Novel

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis deskriptif, khususnya identifikasi dan deskripsi dengan menggunakan graphic organizer sebagai media. Penelitian ini adalah sebuah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah Murid Kelas VIIC, yang be{urnlah27 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui ceklis observasi, catatan lapangan, dan tes. Data tersebut dianalisa dengan rnendeskripsikan ceklis observasi dan catatan lapangan, dan menggunakan rumus mencari nilai rata-rala. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis deskripsi rneningkat dalam 3 siklus dengan menggunakan graphic organizer sebagai media. Dari siklus 1 menuju siklus 2 ada peningkatan sebesar 1}6a/o. Sementara dari siklus 2 ke siklus 3 ada peningkatan 42%. Peningkatan dari siklus peftama sampai dengan siklus ketiga bisa pencerminan bahwa graphic organizer sangat membantu siswa dalam menulis graphic organizer. Hasil skor yang didapat siswa menunjukkan bahwa siswa menjadi lebih baik pada setiap siklusnya. Lebih rinci, peneiiti mencatat bahwaaspek identifikasi dan deskripsi mengalami peningkatan yang cukup drastis dibandingkan aspek kosakata dan gramrnar. Ternuan ini mendukung gagasan bahwa graphic organizer meriregang peranan penting dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis deskripsi pada siswa, karena meningkatkan kemampuan deskripsi dan identifikasi adalah fungis utama dari graphic organizer.Kata kunci : Meningkatkan, Menulis Deskriptif, Graphic OrganizerAbstract: This research is intended to improve students descriptive writing skill, especially in identification and description by applying graphic organizer as the media. This research is a classroom action research which is conducted in three cycles. The subject of this research is Grade VIIC, numbering 27 students. The data is collected by using observation checklist, fieldnote, and test. The data is analyzed by describing the observation checklist and fieldnote, and by using formula of mean score. The result indicate that the students descriptive writing ability improve in three cycle by applying graphic organizer.From first cycle to the second cycle there was 106% improvement. While from the second cycle to the third cycle there was 42% improvement. The improvement from the first cycle up to the third cycle could be a reflection that graphic organizer was helped the students in their descriptive writing. The result shows that the students get better and better each cycle.In more depth, the researcher noted that description and identification was two skills that encounter the most significance improvement compared to vocabulary and grammar.This finding support the notion that graphic organizer held a great role in improving students descriptive writing, because improving identification and description are the graphic organizers main function. Abstract

Abstract: This study intended to improve students’ vocabulary through Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual (SAVI) Approach to the fourth grade students of SDIT Al-Mumtaz Pontianak in academic year 2014/2015. This study was conducted through Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consisted of three cycles. The subject of this research was the fourth grade students which consisted of 31 students. The data was collected by using observation checklist table and field notes. To measure the students’ improvement on vocabulary, the writer administered the evaluation test. The research finding showed that SAVI Approach improved students’ vocabulary. In the somatic phase the students could catch up the vocabulary that they would learn. In the auditory phase students knew how to spell and to pronounce the vocabulary. In the visual phase students knew the meaning of the vocabulary and in the intellectual phase students wrote a simple sentence with the word that they learned. Students showed their improvement in every cycle. Based on the result mention above, it is concluded that teaching vocabulary by using SAVI Approach was successfully improving students’ vocabulary. Key words: Vocabulary, SAVI Approach Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kosa kata siswa melalui pendekatan Somatic, Auditori, Visual, dan Intelektual (SAVI) pada siswa kelas empat di SDIT Al-Mumtaz Pontianak pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari tiga siklus. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 4 yang terdiri dari 31 siswa. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan tabel daftar observasi dan catatan lapangan. Untuk menghitung peningkatan pada kosa kata, penulis membuat tes evaluasi. Penemuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan SAVI meningkatkan kosa kata siswa. Pada tahap somatic siswa dapat menangkap kosa kata yang akan dipelajari. Pada tahap auditori siswa mengetahui bagaimana mengeja dan mengucapkan kosa kata. Pada tahap visual siswa mengetahu arti dari kosa kata dan pada tahap intelektual siswa mampu menulis sebuah kalimat sederhana dengan kosa kata yang telah mereka pelajari. Siswa menunjukkan peningkatannya pada setiap siklus. Berdasarkan hasil yang telah disebutkan diatas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa mengajar kosa kata dengan menggunakan pendekatan SAVI telah berhasil meningkatkan kosa kata siswa. Abstract

Abstract: This research investigated the errors made by students in recount text writing. In this study, researcher applied descriptive study as the form of research. There were 28 students involved in this research. The research showed that the students made 498 errors in various kinds. Students made several generic structural errors in recount text. The researcher had identified and found that the students had made errors in orientation and events in recount text writing. It was also found that there were 333 errors in grammar. The students had made 58 errors in sentence structure, 115 errors in tenses, 68 errors in pronoun, and 92 errors in preposition. In mechanics, the students made 159 errors. There were 64 errors in punctuation, 76 errors in capitalization and 19 errors in spelling. It was concluded that the most frequent error was the error in tense. The research also revealed that the students made errors because of both interlingual and intralingual transfer.  Keywords: Error Analysis, Recount Text Writing  Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesalahan-kesalahan bahasa dalam menulis teks recount. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menerapkan bentuk penelitian descriptive. Terdapat 28 delapan siswa yang dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa membuat kesalahan berbahasa sebanyak 498 kali dengan berbagai jenis kesalahan. Siswa membuat kesalahan dalam generic structure pada bagian orientation dan events. Penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 333 kesalahan dalam grammar pada tulisan siswa. Peneliti menemukan 58 kesalahan pada sentence structure, 115 pada tense, 68 pada pronoun dan 92 pada preposition. Sementara itu, dalam mecanics, siswa membuat 159 kesalahan dimana ditemukan 64 kesalahan pada punctuation, 76 kesalahan pada capitalization dan 19 kesalahan pada spelling. Dari jumlah tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kesalahan pada tense adalah jenis kesalahan yang paling banyak terjadi dalam penulisan teks recount. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa kesalahan siswa dipengaruhi oleh interlingual dan intralingual. Kata Kunci : Analysis Kesalahan, Penulisan Text Recount

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini berfokus untuk mencari tahu apakah buku paket SMK Pista sesuai dengan silabus KTSP. Dalam melaksanakan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metodologi deskriptif dan analisa konten. Teknik dalam mengumpulkan data adalah analisis dokumenter. Disamping itu, peneliti menggunakan table dokumentari checklist sebagai alat pengumpul data. Data dijabarkan dan dianalisa berdasarkan pada langkah-langkah berikut; mengambil data pelajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris dari Pista dan silabus KTSP, menetapkan kriteria-kriteria yang digunakan untuk mencocokan materi di buku paket Pista ke silabus KTSP, dan menganalisa materi berbicara bahasa Inggris dalam Pista ke silabus KTSP. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar materi berbicara bahasa Inggris pada Pista sesuai dengan silabus KTSP. Pista masih sesuai dan cocok untuk digunakan sebagai rujukan buku pegangan guru. Level persentasi kesesuaian antara Pista dan silabus KTSP sebanyak 77%. Total 23% ketidakcocokan lainnya dating dari perbedaan penempatan materi dan kosa kata bahasa Inggris yang diberikan. Key words: Sillabus KTSP. Analisa Konten. Abstract. The main interest in this research is to find out whether the textbook of vocational high school Pista is in line with KTSP syllabus. In conducting this research and achieving the result, the writer used a descriptive method and content analysis. The technique in collecting selected data was documentary analysis. Besides, documentary checklist was the research tool. The data were described and analyzed based on these steps: taking the data from Pista and KTSP syllabus, defining criteria to match speaking material in Pista to KTSP syllabus, matching and describing, and analyzing the speaking material in Pista to KTSP syllabus. The findings show that most of speaking materials in Pista are in line with KTSP syllabus. Pista is still relevant and could be used as teachers references. The percentage level of the compatibility between the speaking materials in Pista based on the calculation from checklist analysis indicator is 77%. Another 23% difference between them comes from the different placing material items and the given vocabulary. Key words: KTSP Syllabus. Content Analysis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk menyelidiki efektifitas dari pengajaran menulis teks naratif dengan menggunakan strategi Teachers Indirect Feedback. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pre experimental yaitu 1 grup pre-test post-test. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah Kelas XI IPA, yang berjumlah 37 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui pre-test dan post-test dalam bentuk tes tertulis. Data tersebut dianalisa dengan menggunakan rumus tingkat efektifitas (effect size). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat efektifitas penerapan strategi Teachers Indirect Feedback untuk pengajaran menulis teks naratif sangat efektif. Kata kunci: Menulis, Teachers Indirect Feedback, Naratif Abstract: This research is held to investigate the effect size of teaching narrative text writing through Teachers Indirect Feedback. It is one group pre-test post-test design. The subject of this research is Year-XI natural science students majoring in. This class consists of 37 students. The data were collected by pre-test and post-test in form of written test. The data was analyzed by using formula of effect size. Abstract

Abstract: This research discussed the requirements in the background of the students in writing the ideas (content). The researcher took the latest five year of the students’ thesis background writing as the sample; there were 25 samples be analyzed of the students’ thesis background writing of English Education Study Program of FKIP Untan year 2009/2010-2013/2014. The researcher applied the documentary research as the technique of data collecting and the method of this research was descriptive study. There four major points were analyzed on the students’ thesis background are the reason of choosing topic, the hope and fact, the other related theories, and the relevant information. As the results, the researcher found that there four samples were not conveyed completely about one of the four points in thesis background.   Keywords:Analysis, Research background, documentary technique Abstrak: Penelitianini bertujuan untuk mendiskusikan tentang komponen-komponenyan harus tertulis dalam menulis sebuah latar belakang suatu penelitian .Penelititelah mengambil 5 sampel latar belakang penelitian dari masing-masing populasi di tahun 2009/2010-2013/2014 (lima tahun terakhir) dari program studi bahasa Inggris di FKIP Untan. Jadi jumlah keseluruhan sample adalah 25 sample yang dipergunakan dalam menganalisis data.Dalam teknik menumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan dokumen serta latar belakang penelitian mahasiswa sebagai  instrument dalam penelitian ini dan menggunakan metode deskriptif dalam menganalisis data.Adapun keempat komponen yang terdapat dalam sebuah latar belakang penelitian yang telah dianalisis yaitu: alas an dalam memilih suatu topic penelitian, ekpektasi dan fakta di lapangan, informasi yang relevan dan teori-teori  yang berkaitan. Alhasil, peneliti menemukan bahwahanya 4 sampel yang tidak lengkap terulis tentang salah satu dari keempat hal yang seharusnya terdapat dalam latar belakang penelitian.   Kata kunci: Analisis, latar belakang penelitian, teknik dokumentasi

Abstract

Abstract: Think-pair-share technique is a cooperative technique which is used to teach in the classroom with emphasized on activities students done at each of the stages. The purpose of this research was to describe how TPS technique improve students’ speaking skill on the Eleventh grade students AP1 (Akomodasi Perhotelan) of SMKN 5 Pontianak. This research used classroom action research as the research design. The sample of this research were 28 students of Eleventh grade, Akomodasi Perhotelan class. There was improvement in each cycle after applying TPS technique in the classroom. The students’ achievement in the first cycle was categorized as poor to average and students’ achievement in the second and third cycle were categorized as average to good. The improvement also can be seen by the activeness of students’ involvement in the speaking activities while teaching learning process. TPS technique can be used by the teacher as alternative to improve students’ speaking skill.   Keywords: Speaking skill, TPS technique, CAR  Abstrak: Think-pair-share tehnik adalah tehnik kooperatif yang digunakan untuk mengajar dikelas yang menekankan pada aktifitas yang siswa lakukan disetiap langkah-langkahnya. Terdapat peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya setelah penerapan tehnik TPS dikelas. Pencapaian siswa disiklus pertama dikategorikan “poor to average” dan disiklus kedua dan ketiga dikategorikan “average to good”. Peningkatan tersebut juga dapat dilihat melalui keaktifan dari keterlibatan siswa didalam aktifitas berbicara ketika proses belajar mengajar. Tehnik TPS bisa digunakan oleh guru sebagai alternatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa.  Kata kunci: Kemampuan berbicara, tehnik TPS, CAR
