Abstract

RUGAYAH & SUNARTI, S. 2008. Two new wild species of Averrhoa (Oxalidaceae) from Indonesia. Reinwardtia 12(4): 325 – 331. — Based on living collections cultivated in Bogor Botanical Gardens and several herbarium specimens kept in Herbarium Bogoriense, Averrhoa dolichocarpa Rugayah & Sunarti (from New Guinea) and A. leucopetala Rugayah & Sunarti (from North Sulawesi) are described as new species. They are compared with A. carambola L. and A. bilimbi L. the only other known species so far.

Abstract

In the wide-spread cucurbitaceous SE Asian genus Trichosanthes 5 new Malesian taxa are described by Rugayah, viz Trichosanthes auriculata Rugayah, T. beccariana Cogn. subsp. pusilla Rugayah, T.montana Rugayah, T. pendula Rugayah, and T. rotundifolia Rugayah. The new monotypic genus Borneosicyos, with the sole species B.simplex de Wilde, endemic of Sabah, is described by de Wilde.

Abstract

Trichosanthes (Cucurbitaceae) in Malesia comprises 5 sections with 39 species, here alphabetically arranged. Key to the sections, keys the species within the sections and eight regional keys are presented Twenty-five taxa are newly proposed: 1 section, 14 species, 1 sub species, 2 varieties and 7 forms.

Abstract

In the revision of the cucurbitaceous genus Trichosanthes in Malesia by Rugayah & W.J.J.O. de Wilde (Reinwardtia 11(4): 262. 1999), the type of the proposed new species T. kinabaluensis Rugayah was erroneously indicated as consisting of two collections, viz. Chew, Corner & Stainton 2830 and De Wilde & Duyfjes SAN 139472. This latter appeared to be contrary to art. 37.3 of the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (Tokyo Code, 1994), rendering the new species invalid. This species is validated below by indicating a single type. I am grateful to Dr. Dan H. Nicolson (US Washington), who kindly made me aware of the mistake.

Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens) is a horticultural commodity with high economic value and increasing demand. Anthracnose disease is a major limiting factor in cayenne pepper cultivation, with yield losses reaching up to 60%. Control of anthracnose is generally achieved through fungicide application. However, the extensive use of fungicides has led to the emergence of resistant strains and environmental pollution. Various plants have been reported to contain antifungal bioactive compounds. This study aims to determine the potential of mangrove extract to control Colletotrichum sp., the cause of anthracnose disease in cayenne pepper. The research was conducted at the Plant Disease Science Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The tested mangrove species were some part of Avicennia marina. In vitro testing was carried out using a poison food method and arranged in a completely randomized design with 5 replications. The treatments in the in vitro test included: no mangrove extract, extracts from the fruit, root, leaves, stem, and bark of A. marina. In vivo testing was conducted using a completely randomized design with 3 replications. The treatments consisted of: no mangrove extract, extracts from the root, leaves, stem, and bark of A. marina. The results indicate that extracts from various parts of A. marina inhibited the growth of Colletotrichum sp. colonies, except for extracts from A. marina root and leaf. However, all extracts from A. marina did not affect the sporulation of Colletotrichum sp., the cause of anthracnose in cayenne pepper. Furthermore, extracts from different parts of A. marina did not impede the occurrence or severity of anthracnose on cayenne peppers

Abstract

Ziziphus in Indonesia, especially Java, hasfive species recorded in the book Flora of Java. In 2010, there were two additional species that had not been recorded in the Flora of Java. Some species of unresolved taxon position and nomenclature are valid and precise. Meanwhile, the latest scientific journal publications related to taxonomic studies of Ziziphus species in Java have not been widely carried out and are even almost non-existent. This study aimedto re-examine the Ziziphus species in Java based on variations in morphological characters. Exploration and identification of specimens throughout Java and herbarium study specimens were carried out. The morphological characterizations observed included stature, morphology of stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds. The identification obtained eight species, Ziziphus mauritiana Lam., Ziziphus spina-christi (L.)Desf., Ziziphus celtidifolia DC., Ziziphus javanensis Blume, Ziziphus horsfieldii Miq., Ziziphus rufula Miq., Ziziphus oenoplia (L.) Mill. and Ziziphus nummularia (Burm. f.) Wight et Arn. Three species of which are new records for the Java region, among others; Ziziphus celtidifolia DC., Ziziphus mauritiana Lam. and Ziziphus spina-christi (L.) Desf. Phenetic analysis based on morphological characteristics showed that Ziziphus in Java had 52% -81% similarity.

Abstract

Spatifilum (Spathiphyllum walliisii Regel) yaitu tanaman hias yang mempunyai ciri-ciri bunga dengan warna putih kontras dan daun hijau tua yang membuat tanaman terlihat elok sebagai penghias ruangan. . Maka, perlu dilakukan penelitian tanaman spatifilum dengan pemberian BA dan ekstrak bawang merah untuk memberikan penampilan yang lebih lebih baik. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian BA, ekstrak bawang merah dan interaksi dari BA dan ekstrak bawang merah pada pembungaan tanaman spatifilum. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini yaitu di Rumah Kaca Hortikultura Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Lampung pada Oktober 2023 sampai Januari 2024. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan yaitu Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan tiga ulangan satu ulangan terdapat tiga pot, sebanyak 2 faktor dan tiga kelompok tanaman (3 x 2 x 3 x 3) sehingga total pot adalah 54 pot. Faktor pertama yaitu BA (0 pp dan 20 ppm) dan faktor kedua yaitu ekstrak bawang merah (0 gL-1, 100 gL-1, dan 200 gL-1) diaplikasikan sebanyak 4 kali. Data dianalisis dengan uji analisis ragam (F), jika signifikan kemudian dilakukan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) pada taraf nyata 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi benziladenin 20 ppm dapat meningkatkan jumlah daun, jumlah anakan, mengurangi hama dan penyakit tanaman, mempercepat waktu mekar bunga, meningkatkan ketahanan bunga, meningkatkan panjang dan lebar mahkota bunga. Pemberian konsentrasi ekstrak bawang merah 100 gL-1 dan 200 gL-1 dapat meningkatkan kehijauan daun, mempercepat muncul anakan, menghasilkan jumlah bunga lebih banyak dibandingkan tanpa pemberian ekstrak bawang merah. Interaksi pada perlakuan benziladenin dan ekstrak bawang merah hanya terdapat pada variabel tingkat kehijauan daun.

Abstract

Sirih merah merupakan tanaman hias sekaligus sebagai tanaman obat yang termasuk ke dalam famili Piperaceae yang nilai keindahannya dapat dilihat dari warna daun yang menarik dan kerimbunan tanaman. Warna daun yang menarik memiliki permukaan bawah merah maroon pekat dan atas hijau bercorak perak. Untuk meningkatan keindahan tampilan tanaman sirih merah salah satunya dengan pemberian ZPT berupa benziladenin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian benziladenin dengan berbagai kosentrasi terhadap tampilan tanaman sirih merah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei – Desember 2023 di Rumah Kaca Hortikultura, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan perlakuan tunggal terstruktur yang terdiri dari 6 taraf konsentrasi benziladenin yaitu : 0 ppm, 5 ppm, 10 ppm, 15 ppm, 20 ppm, dan 25 ppm. Perlakuan diulang sebanyak tiga kali yang sekaligus berfungsi sebagai kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian benziladenin nyata meningkatkan jumlah tunas dan tingkat kehijauan daun secara linear. Pada variabel tinggi tunas, jumlah daun, panjang ruas, dan waktu muncul tunas pemberian benziladenin tidak menjukkan pengaruh yang nyata. Akan tetapi, pemberian benziladenin memiliki kecenderungan mampu memperbanyak jumlah daun, menekan tinggi tunas, dan memperpendek panjang ruas, terutama konsentrasi 25 ppm sehingga tampilan tanamannya menjadi lebih indah.
