Abstract

This study examines the application of fiqh tolerance in State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) within the context of contemporary challenges. The research focuses on student responses to religious extremism in Indonesia, which has become increasingly relevant in the era of digital media and globalization. This field study uses data collection methods, including interviews and documentation. Three key findings emerged from this study. First, most students firmly reject religious extremism, although a minority still supports it due to misinformation and the influence of narratives spread through digital media. Second, extremist recruitment strategies in PTKIN are carried out through religious activities, social media, and the dissemination of extremist ideologies through various channels, such as books, journals, and financial support, which have become more sophisticated using information technology. Third, preventive measures involve strengthening academic and non-academic understanding, including integrating religious moderation values into the curriculum, conducting seminars and training, and empowering student organizations to build resilience against extremism within the PTKIN environment. The academic contribution of this study lies in aligning fiqh tolerance with contemporary challenges, particularly in dealing with digital-based extremism, which has become more complex. This research offers a new perspective by integrating religious and social approaches to raise collective awareness among students at PTKIN. Furthermore, the findings enrich academic discourse by providing concrete recommendations for strengthening curricula based on religious moderation and developing adaptive preventive strategies in response to social and technological changes. This makes the study theoretically and practically relevant in creating a more inclusive and resilient higher education environment.

Abstract

This article discusses about the relevance of KH Imam Zarkasi thoughts of education in developing intrapersonal intelligence. It is a kind of library research using descriptive-qualitative method. The resutt of this research shows that KH. Imam Zarkasi`s thoughts are still very relevant to be implemented in developing students` intrapersonal intelligence. Among of his thoughts are; 1) developing intrapersonal intelligence can be through two ways; intentionally, that is through education in formal institutions, and unintentionally that is through interaction with the surrounding community and the nature. 2) The method of learning to develop intrapersonal intelligence is through individual training; by entrusting children to carry out their own duties with full responsibility, giving children the opportunity to make their own decisions and be responsible for their decisions, and other similar activities. These thoughts have been applied by KH Imam Zarkasi through the institution he developed, namely Pondok Pesantren Gontor. Among of his renewal efforts are; The implementation learning using classical system, the use of learning methods that provide opportunities for children to develop their thinking power critically, independently and responsibly, and provide extracurricular activities as a forum for students to develop themselves. Abstract

Hadith studies, as a fundamental discipline in understanding Islamic teachings, are facing significant transformations in the digital era. This era offers easy access to unlimited data and a paradigm shift in automated hadith searches, supported by various software and digital databases. However, this progress also poses crucial challenges, such as the spread of fake hadiths, data vulnerability, and the need for researchers' digital literacy, which demands adaptation of hadith study methodologies. This study aims to examine these adaptations, analyze the challenges, and offer innovative solutions to ensure the validity and authenticity of hadith studies amidst the flow of digital information. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this study obtained primary data through expert interviews and observations of digital platforms (Maktabah Syamilah, Al-Maktaba Al-Waqfiyyah), as well as secondary data from the literature. Thematic analysis was conducted through transcription, coding, and interpretation of meaning. The results show that the digital era has increased accessibility and changed the paradigm of hadith searches. However, challenges arise in the validation of digital sources, technological dependence that shallows analysis, ethical/copyright issues, and variations in digital literacy. The discussion emphasizes that solutions involve the development of integrated applications, increasing digital literacy, collaboration between institutions, and strengthening traditional hadith criticism methodologies. Technology should function as a support to strengthen the foundation of hadith science, making hadith studies more efficient and accurate. Abstract

The phenomenon of political dynasties, namely the inheritance of power in a particular family or group, has become an important issue in Indonesia's political dynamics and attracted the attention of the media, including Islamic-based media such as Islami.co. Islami.co articles often raise the topic of political dynasties with a perspective that links Islamic values and their relevance to contemporary political practices. Hans-Georg Gadamer's hermeneutic approach, particularly the concept of fusion of horizons, is used in this research to understand how Islami.co mainstreams the discourse of dynastic politics. Gadamer's theory emphasizes a dialogue between the text and the reader that involves the incorporation of historical, social, and cultural perspectives. Through this framework, Islami.co not only provides information, but also interprets the phenomenon of dynastic politics by linking it to Islamic history, such as the leadership of Bani Umayyah and Bani Abbasiyah, which reflects the appropriateness of traditional values in a modern context. This hermeneutic approach allows Indonesian Muslim readers to understand political dynasties in a more complex framework, not just as a practice that is viewed negatively or positively. As a result, Islami.co acts as an agent of interpretation that combines the horizon of Islamic history and current political challenges, resulting in a new understanding that balances Islamic values with contemporary political dynamics in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari's thinking on character education for the context of Elementary Schools/Islamic Elementary Schools (SD/MI) through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Analysis of a number of literatures found that Asy'ari's concept of character, which is based on the book "Adab al-‘Ālim wa al-Muta‘allim," is holistic and built on three main pillars. First, a philosophical foundation that views character education as tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul) with an emphasis on developing inner motivations such as sincerity and humility. Second, a relational model that places the relationship between teacher (murabbi) and student based on example and respect as the central mechanism for instilling values. Third, an operational framework that implements abstract values through micro-habits (ta'dīb) in school routines and thematic integration into the national curriculum. This synthesis produces a conceptual framework that shows that Asy'ari's thoughts can function as a value amplifier that enriches and deepens the practice of character education in elementary schools/Islamic elementary schools, bridging the values of Islamic boarding schools with the demands of modern education to form a generation that is intelligent and has noble morals.

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces serious challenges due to the penetration of Western worldviews that have triggered secularization, fragmentation of knowledge, and degradation of manners in educational practices. This condition shows that the crisis in Islamic education is epistemological, not merely technical or curricular. This study aims to analyze Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas’s thoughts on the unity of knowledge in Islam by grounding epistemology in manners. This research uses a literature review method with a historical-philosophical approach, analyzing al-Attas’s major works and relevant secondary literature published in the last 10 years. The results of the study show that al-Attas interprets adab not merely as behavioral ethics but as an epistemological structure that organizes the relationship between the subject, the object, and the purpose of knowledge, while restoring the relationship between revelation and reason in education. His concept of the unity of knowledge is based on tawhid as an ontological and epistemological principle, thus rejecting the dichotomy between religious and secular knowledge. These findings confirm that al-Attas’ epistemology is applicable and relevant to the development of an integrative curriculum and value-based learning at the MI/SD level, particularly in the context of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Primary education that predominantly emphasizes cognitive achievement has led to a gradual degradation of character education. Consequently, the educational system risks producing graduates who are intellectually capable but morally fragile. This study aims to examine and propose a conceptual framework derived from the thoughts of the Muslim philosopher Al-Farabi as a philosophical foundation for revitalizing the primary education curriculum toward the formation of a holistic human being. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, in which data from Al-Farabi’s primary works and relevant secondary literature are analyzed through descriptive-philosophical analysis. The findings reveal that Al-Farabi’s educational thought is holistic in nature, emphasizing the ultimate goal of attaining true happiness (sa‘adah) through the balance between intellectual cultivation (‘aql) and moral excellence (khuluq). His concept of integrating theoretical sciences (logic, metaphysics) and practical sciences (ethics, politics), along with the central role of the teacher as a moral exemplar, holds significant relevance for addressing the persistent dualism between cognition and character in modern education. The study concludes that Al-Farabi’s philosophy can be actualized through a curriculum that harmonizes philosophical, pedagogical, and curricular dimensions, thereby nurturing a generation that is not only intellectually superior but also morally upright and socially conscious.
