Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses about the communication function of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama’s Twitter account as an Implementer Governor of DKI Jakarta. This study was conducted using content analysis method with qualitative descriptive approach. The data that used in this study were primary data and secondary data. The primary data was in the form of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama’s tweet content, @Basuki_btp from 2nd June 2014 until 28th November 2014. While the secondary data was in the form of data and information obtained through the interviews. The result of this study are Basuki Tjahaja Purnama as an Implementer Governor of DKI Jakarta has been running the communication function quite well. It was proven by total 55 tweets from his account, 36 tweets can be categorized into informing function, five tweets can be categorized into the educating function and two tweets that can be categorized into the influencing function in accordance to the communication function described by Onong Uchjana Effendy.Abstrak: Penelitian ini membahas tentang fungsi komunikasi Basuki Tjahaja Purnama sebagai seorang Pelaksana Tugas Gubernur DKI Jakarta dalam menggunakan media sosial Twitter. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi, dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer berupa isi tweet dari akun Twitter @Basuki_btp dengan periode 2 Juni 2014 hingga 28 November 2014. Sedangkan data sekunder berupa data atau informasi yang diperoleh dari hasil wawancara. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu bahwa Basuki Tjahaja Purnama sebagai seorang Pelaksana Tugas Gubernur DKI Jakarta telah menjalankan fungsi komunikasi dengan cukup baik. Hal ini terbukti dengan dari total 55 tweet yang di analisis, 36 tweet dapat dikategorikan ke dalam fungsi menginformasikan, lima tweet dapat dikategorikan ke dalam fungsi mendidik dan dua tweet yang dapat dikategorikan ke dalam fungsi mempengaruhi sesuai dengan fungsi komunikasi yang dipaparkan oleh Onong Uchjana Effendy.

Abstract

Abstrak:Penelitian ini membahas mengenai komunikasi antarpribadi yang dilakukan antara perawat dengan lansia yang tinggal di panti jompo. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan beberapa teori antara lain teori komunikasi, komunikasi antarpribadi, teori penetrasi sosial, perawat, lansia, dan panti jompo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Untuk menyelesaikan penelitian ini penulis melakukan wawancara mendalam kepada empat narasumber yaitu dua orang perawat dan dua orang lansia, observasi dan studi kepustakaan. Dari penelitian ini dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa memang kedekatan hubungan antarpribadi antara perawat dengan lansia di Panti Lansia Santa Anna dapat dilihat melalui lima kualitas umum yaitu keterbukaan, perilaku positif, perilaku suportif, empati, dan kesamaan. Kelima hal tersebut dijalankan sepenuhnya oleh para perawat di Panti Lansia Santa Anna ini dalam hal berkomunikasi dan membentuk hubungan dengan lansia yang tinggal di panti.

Abstract

This study discusses the communication between the child and the stepparent and use the theory that consists of communication theory, communication function, the purpose of communication, interpersonal communication, effective interpersonal communication, interpersonal communication role and function of interpersonal communication. This study used a qualitative method with descriptive qualitative approach. The data used in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data. The primary data of the interviews with sources consisting of four children and one stepparent. While the secondary data obtained from other sources such as books and online data searches. The technique of collecting data using interviews, observation, literature review and data searches online. From this research it is known that children who learn about and understand the prospective stepparent before she married biological parents do relatively better than those who do not recognize his step prospective parents before marriage. It is also known that the interpersonal communication of children with stepparents dependent based on the character of the child and the stepparent respectively. Penelitian ini membahas tentang komunikasi antara anak dengan orang tua tiri dan menggunakan teori yang terdiri dari teori komunikasi, fungsi komunikasi, tujuan komunikasi, komunikasi antarpribadi, komunikasi antarpribadi yang efektif, peranan komunikasi antarpribadi dan fungsi komunikasi antarpribadi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer berupa hasil wawancara dengan narasumber yang terdiri dari empat orang anak dan satu orang tua tiri. Sedangkan data sekunder berupa data yang diperoleh dari buku dan sumber lain seperti penelusuran data online. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan wawancara, observasi, kajian pustaka dan penelusuran data online. Dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa anak yang mengetahui dan mengenal calon orang tua tiri sebelum menikah dengan orang tua kandungnya hubungannya relatif lebih baik dibandingkan anak yang tidak mengenal calon orang tua tirinya sebelum menikah. Selain itu juga diketahui bahwa komunikasi antarpribadi anak dengan orang tua tiri tergantung berdasarkan karakter dari anak dan orang tua tiri masing-masing.

Abstract

Cultural diversity in Indonesia is analogous to a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it can be seen as a source of strength, but on the other hand, it can be seen as a weakness. In April 2022, SETARA Institut, a non-governmental organization for democracy and peace, announced 10 cities in Indonesia that were rated as having the highest level of tolerance, one of which was Manado. Minahasa society adheres to the Sitou Timou Tumou Tou philosophy. In this philosophy there is openness, mutual respect, mutual assistance and assistance. Multicultural societies have a tendency towards conflict. In this case, women activists in Manado play a role in establishing harmonization. The research aims to discover the role of women in maintaining harmony in Manado, as well as the conflict communication used to prevent conflict. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. The object of this research is the role of Manado women in maintaining harmony and conflict management. The subject of Manado women's activists. This research uses several data collection methods, including interviews, observation, literature study and online data tracing. The research results show that women activists actively carry out interfaith or interfaith dialogue with various social organizations, especially Islamic organizations. Women activists also took the initiative to establish the Peace Love Movement which seeks to build dialogue and make dialogue a part of their lifestyle. In order to build public awareness of multiculturalism, every Human Rights Day, namely December 10, the Love and Peace Movement holds a Diversity Festival.

Abstract

As something unique, local culture can be utilized in various fields, one of which is tourism. The development of the tourism industry is characterized by several things, for example there is an increase in community participation to advance the local tourism industry, and the use of the creative economy. This research itself was carried out by looking at the potential that Indonesia has in the tourism and creative economy sectors which still have great potential to be developed further while still supporting the preservation of Indonesia's local culture. The research was carried out at a location in East Sumba, because it has a natural attraction for tourism which is already worldwide, but its development so far has not been optimal. Apart from having natural potential for tourism development, Sumba also has local culture and creative economy products, such as woven fabrics. This research was conducted with the main aim of producing a model for the development of tourism and creative economy based on local culture. This research itself will focus on the use of local culture in the tourism sector and the creative economy in tourism communication studies. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach and case study method. Data was obtained through FGD and interviews with resource persons. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that East Sumba has potential in terms of tourism development, the potential is in the form of natural resources, creative economic products, local culture and infrastructure suggestions. Developing this potential must receive support from the government in the form of development and policy making that favors local communities. Apart from that, tourism development also requires the development of human resources, which therefore requires collaboration between the government and local communities.

Abstract

Amazon Prime Video is a streaming service that provides local and international movies. On March 23, 2023, Amazon Prime Video officially released a local drama series entitled "Induk Gajah." The drama tells the story of an only daughter who is often pressured and forced by her mother to have a partner by the age of 30. Her mother considers her daughter's large body to be one of the reasons why her daughter does not have a partner, so the mother makes an arranged marriage without her daughter's consent. This research was conducted to find out how the representation of feminism is shown in the Induk Gajah drama series. By using a qualitative approach, this study uses the critical discourse analysis method of Sara Mills's model to find out the position of the subject, the position of the object, and the position of the audience of each scene analyzed in the study through the actions or discourse in the scene. The results show that the representation is shown in several scenes, such as the courage of girls to express opinions to parents, the courage to reprimand men, the image of women who have the same intelligence as men and are responsible for work, and helpers for men. Amazon Prime Video merupakan salah satu layanan streaming yang menyediakan film lokal dan internasional. Pada 23 Maret 2023 Amazon Prime Video secara resmi merilis serial drama lokal yang berjudul “Induk Gajah”. Drama ini menceritakan seorang anak perempuan tunggal yang kerap mendapatkan tekanan dan paksaan oleh sang ibu untuk memiliki pasangan di umur 30 tahun. Ibunya menganggap badan besar yang dimiliki oleh anaknya menjadi salah satu penyebab anaknya tidak memiliki pasangan, maka itu sang ibu membuat perjodohan tanpa persetujuan dari anak perempuannya. Penelitian ini dibuat dengan tujuan mengetahui bagaimana representasi feminisme ditunjukkan dalam serial drama Induk Gajah. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis wacana kritis model Sara Mills untuk mengetahui posisi subjek, posisi objek dan posisi penonton dari setiap adegan yang dianalisis dalam penelitian melalui tindakkan ataupun wacana dalam adegan. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa representasi ditunjukkan dalam beberapa adegan seperti: keberanian anak perempuan menyampaikan pendapat kepada orang tuanya, keberanian menegur laki-laki, gambaran perempuan memiliki intelektualitas yang sama dengan laki-laki dan bisa bertanggung jawab dengan pekerjaan, dan penolong bagi laki-laki.

Abstract

Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace is located in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The Sultanate of Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat is recognized as the nation's cultural heritage which has been passed down from generation to generation and is regulated in the Law on the Special Region of Yogyakarta No. 13 of 2012. The courtier at the Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace is one of the actors of Javanese cultural preservation. They are people who dedicate their lives to working in the palace and come from people who have blood relations with the royal family or ordinary people who have a desire to devote themselves. The Abdi Dalem of the Ngayogyakarta Palace consists of two groups, namely Keprajan and Punakawan. A courtier is a person who has retired and gives time, knowledge, and energy to help the palace, while the courtier is punakawan from the general public. Punakawan courtiers are still divided into two groups, namely Punakawan Tepas who have working hours like office employees, and Punakawan Caos who is on duty every ten days. The majority of palace courtiers come from the Javanese ethnic group, the largest ethnic group in Indonesia. For the courtier, if he is in the environment, the philosophy of the court is applicable which means that every movement of the courtier is obliged to perform sembah in the palace. Every time he steps past a certain place or object, the courtier is required to perform sembah, cupping both palms in front of his chest with his head slightly lowered. This qualitative research with an ethnographic approach was carried out at the Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace by interviewing three resource persons from different districts or tepas. Sembah is one of the symbols of respect or greetings taklim to people of higher rank or places in the palace that are considered sacred. Sembah does not mean worship as in the concept of worship of Balinese Hindus. When performing sembah, the thumb of the hand faces upwards as symbol of the relationship with God while the other four fingers are straight forward as symbol of the relationship with nature, the relationship with man, the relationship with animals, and finally the relationship with the invisible nature. Male sembah is different from female sembah.

Abstract

Instagram is an application used by the community to exchange messages and obtain necessary information. The existence of the Instagram social media platform blurs the boundaries between private and public spaces. However, for some individuals, Instagram is utilized to create an image that aligns with their desires. This is related to dramaturgical theory enacted on Instagram, exemplified by an artist and model named Gebby Vesta, who plays a role in this social media theater. In her private Instagram account, Gebby Vesta portrays herself as a beautiful woman often showcasing her body. However, beneath this facade, she is a transwoman. This study aims to examine the dramaturgy that occurs in Gebby Vesta's Instagram presence. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study method, the research utilizes interview data, literature review, and documentation. The findings of this research indicate that on the front stage, Gebby Vesta endeavors to present herself as a good-looking woman with an ideal body. This is evident from several posts that lead to the perception that Gebby Vesta is a cisgender woman. On the back stage, she reveals her identity as a transwoman, concealing this aspect of herself in front of the public, particularly on her private Instagram account. Instagram merupakan sebuah aplikasi yang digunakan masyarakat untuk bertukar pesan dan mendapatkan informasi yang dibutuhkan. Adanya media sosial Instagram membuat tercampurnya ruang pribadi dengan publik, namun bagi sebagian orang menggunakan Instagram untuk membuat citra yang sesuai dengan keinginan penggunanya. Hal ini berhubungan dengan teori dramaturgi yang dilakukan di Instagram, salah satu artis dan model bernama Gebby Vesta yang memainkan perannya dalam media sosial Instagram. Dalam Instagram pribadinya Gebby Vesta berperan sebagai perempuan yang cantik dan sering menunjukan tubuhnya namun dibalik itu dia adalah seorang transpuan. Pada penelitian ini, penulis ingin melihat bagaimana dramaturgi yang terjadi pada transpuan Gebby Vesta di Instagram. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, studi pustaka dan dokumentasi. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukan front stage dia berusaha menampilkan dirinya sebagai perempuan yang baik dan cantik mempunyai tubuh yang ideal. Hal ini terlihat dari beberapa unggahan yang menggiring opini bahwa Gebby Vesta merupakan seorang perempuan. Pada bagian back stage dia sebagai seorang transpuan

Abstract

Film is a communication tool to convey a message to the public regarding certain social phenomena in the form of a story. One social phenomenon that is often highlighted in films is culture. 'Saiyo Sakato' is a film released in 2020. This film has a Minang ethnic background which highlights social phenomena such as the Minang ethnic communication culture. Apart from highlighting the phenomenon of Minang ethnic communication culture, the film 'Saiyo Sakato' conveys the phenomenon of dividing inheritance within the family. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods and uses Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic data analysis techniques. The theory used is Charles Sanders Peirce's cultural communication and semiotics. The aim of this research is to find out how the Minang ethnic communication culture is in the film 'Saiyo Sakato'. Data collection methods were carried out by means of observation, interviews, literature study and documentation. The results of research on Minang ethnic communication culture in the film 'Saiyo Sakato' are the culture of maintaining identity, matrilineal culture, Minang boys and the role of mamak in guiding kemenakan. Film merupakan alat komunikasi untuk menyampaikan suatu pesan kepada masyarakat mengenai fenomena sosial tertentu dalam bentuk cerita. Salah satu fenomena sosial yang sering kali diangkat dalam film adalah budaya. ‘Saiyo Sakato’ merupakan film yang dirilis pada tahun 2020. Film ini memiliki latar belakang etnis Minang yang mengangkat fenomena sosial seperti budaya komunikasi etnis Minang. Selain mengangkat fenomena budaya komunikasi etnis Minang, film ‘Saiyo Sakato’ menyampaikan fenomena pembagian harta warisan dalam keluarga. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif  dengan metode deskriptif dan menggunakan teknik analisis data semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Teori yang digunakan adalah komunikasi budaya dan semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui bagaimana budaya komunikasi etnis Minang dalam film ‘Saiyo Sakato’. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara, studi kepustakaan dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian budaya komunikasi etnis Minang pada film ‘Saiyo Sakato’ adalah budaya mempertahankan identitas, budaya matrilineal, anak laki-laki Minang dan peran mamak dalam membimbing kemenakan.

Abstract

Stereotypes about women's bodies are one of the constructs of advertising. It grows in society and continues to be repetition so that it becomes a normality. This makes the ideal female body shape often represented in the mass media. One company that often represents the ideal female body shape in its advertisements is Victoria's Secret. However, in 2018 they were accused of physically insulting large women and transgender groups. So in 2021 they changed their model lineup to be more inclusive. Then last August 2023 they re-launched an advertisement for their latest women's underwear collection called The Icon. This research aims to see how the representation of the female body is seen from the advertisement for The Icon women's underwear collection. The research uses descriptive qualitative research methods, and is analyzed using the critical discourse analysis model proposed by Sara Mills by paying attention to the position of the subject-object and reader/viewer seen from the scenes and dialogue in the advertisement. This research shows the company's efforts to convey that women in any form deserve to be accepted in society. However, there is still a form of alienation shown from the few scenes of large women from the advertisement. Stereotip mengenai tubuh perempuan merupakan salah satu hasil konstruksi dari iklan. Hal ini tumbuh di masyarakat dan terus berepetisi sehingga menjadi suatu kewajaran. Hal ini menjadikan bentuk tubuh ideal perempuan kerap direpresentasikan dalam media massa. Salah satu perusahaan yang sering merepresentasikan bentuk tubuh ideal perempuan dalam iklannya ialah Victoria’s Secret. Namun pada tahun 2018 lalu mereka dituding melakukan penghinaan fisik kepada perempuan bertubuh besar dan juga kelompok transgender. Sehingga pada tahun 2021 lalu mereka merubah jajaran model mereka untuk lebih inklusif. Kemudian Agustus 2023 lalu mereka kembali meluncurkan iklan untuk koleksi pakaian dalam perempuan terbaru mereka yang diberi nama The Icon. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana representasi tubuh perempuan dilihat dari iklan koleksi pakaian dalam perempuan The Icon tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, dan dianalisis menggunakan model analisis wacana kritis yang dikemukakan oleh Sara Mills dengan memperhatikan terhadap posisi subjek-objek dan pembaca/penonton yang dilihat dari adegan dan dialog dalam iklan tersebut. Penelitian ini memperlihatkan usaha perusahaan untuk menyampaikan bahwa perempuan bagaimanapun bentuknya layak untuk diterima di masyarakat. Namun masih ada bentuk pengasingan yang diperlihatkan dari sedikitnya adegan perempuan bertubuh besar dari iklan tersebut.
