Abstract

Bullying in elementary schools is a common issue that can negatively impact children's psychological, social, and academic development. Therefore, preventive efforts through socialization activities are necessary to raise awareness and understanding among students, teachers, and parents regarding bullying prevention. This community service was carried out at Seumantok Public Elementary School, West Aceh Regency, aiming to provide education on the effects of bullying and strategies for its prevention. The methods used included interactive presentations, group discussions, and bullying scenario simulations to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding. The results showed that this socialization successfully increased students' awareness of the importance of mutual respect and the adverse effects of bullying. Teachers were also trained to recognize signs of bullying and implement strategies to manage classroom conflicts. Additionally, parents were provided with guidance on creating a family environment that supports children's emotional development. Program evaluation through surveys indicated that 85% of participants felt more prepared to prevent and handle bullying cases. This community service concludes that an education-based approach, collaboration, and the involvement of all stakeholders effectively raise awareness and foster an anti-bullying culture in elementary schools. Similar programs are recommended to be implemented in other schools as part of efforts to create a safe and conducive learning environment.

Abstract

This study explores the bargaining position of Acehnese women in public policy forums through their participation in Musrena (Women’s Development Planning Forum) and Musrenbang (General Development Planning Forum) in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Using a contemporary feminist ethnographic approach, the research documents how the Balee Inong community—a grassroots women’s network—engages with the state planning apparatus to influence gender-responsive budgeting and development agendas. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies involving key stakeholders at village and city levels. Findings indicate that Musrena serves as an effective platform for amplifying women’s voices in formal planning processes, offering both structural and symbolic space for women's political engagement. The institutionalization of Musrena through local regulations has significantly enhanced women's visibility and agency, particularly in negotiating budget allocations and shaping gender-equitable policies. Furthermore, the study reveals how historical narratives, religious values, and local wisdom interact with state mechanisms to produce a uniquely Acehnese model of participatory development. The research highlights the potential of localized feminist strategies in transforming hierarchical planning systems into more inclusive, bottom-up processes. It contributes to global discourses on gender budgeting, feminist governance, and community-based planning innovations.

Abstract

Post-conflict Aceh, GAM has transformed from a defense movement to a political movement. This transformation caused contestation in internal GAM. GAM versus GAM contestation in regional election contest has started since 2006, 2012, and 2017, but regional election contest in 2017 period is the peak of political fragmentation in Aceh. GAM has split into two local parties namely Partai Aceh (PA) and Partai Nanggroe Aceh (PNA). This article examined the strategy and basis of the two localparties inthe 2017 regional election contest (Pilkada). This article also revealed how these local parties establish an affiliation with the National Party in the 2017 regional election contest. This study used qualitative research methods and data collection techniques using in-depth interview techniques. The results showed that the Partai Aceh has a mass base at the grassroots as well as a militant mass (ex-combatants), while the Partai Nanggroe Aceh had a mass base of civilian GAM besides having a mass base at the grassroots (former combatants). The strategy carried out by each local party was to take religious leaders as symbolic capital to gain votes in the elections. Furthermore, the uniqueness of these two local partiesis they did not release ethnic ethnonationalism as symbols of its identity

Abstract

This article examines why the Keujruen Blang, as a traditional institution, has continued to experience crises since the New Order Reformation to post-peace in Aceh. This study aimed to reveal and provide an overview of how the Acehnese people's local wisdom, or local knowledge, has been experiencing a crisis, particularly a recent issue with paddy field management. This study was conducted in Aceh Jaya and used qualitative research. Observations and direct interviews were conducted with 17 informants. The technique for determining informants used a purposive technique. In addition to the interview, data were collected through a review of the literature and other documents on the crisis agency of local actors (keujruen blang). These related documents and articles were identified, reviewed, and analyzed. The data analysis techniques used was data reduction, data display, and verification. Reproduction of the keujruen blang authority had yet to bring the expected results. Even though laws, government regulations, and Aceh Qanun had been issued, Keujruen Blang still needed to be strengthened. This fact occurred because there were overlapping roles and functions between the customary institution of keujruen blang and the formal P3A institution.

Abstract

This community service program in Drien Rampak Village, Johan Pahlawan Aceh Barat, aimed to establish a sustainable waste management system through the "Branding Desa Mandiri Sampah" approach. Initial assessments revealed low community awareness and participation in waste management, with only 40% of households aware of its importance and 30% practicing waste separation. Through a series of educational outreach and training sessions on waste separation and composting techniques, the program significantly improved these figures. Post-program evaluations showed a remarkable increase in awareness to 85% and household participation in waste separation rose to 70%. Additionally, 50% of households adopted composting practices, with 40% successfully producing stable compost for domestic use. Despite these achievements, challenges such as technical difficulties in composting remain, highlighting the need for ongoing support and education. This initiative demonstrated that community-based approaches can foster substantial behavioral changes, making Drien Rampak Village a model for sustainable waste management that can be replicated in other rural areas.

Abstract

This research examines Balee Inong’s objectives as a women’s struggle community in Banda Aceh City towards increasing the role of women in the public sector. Although Balee Inong has empowered women in Banda Aceh City, one community, to fight for women’s rights, Balee Inong has not shown significant results in involving most women actively engaged in public spaces and decision-making subjects. This study uses a qualitative case study approach to analyze the roles and challenges of Balee Inong, which focuses on empowerment and work programs in Balee Inong. The study findings indicate that Balee Inong’s role has not yet been maximized due to several factors related to women’s political identity awareness, social construction, and patriarchal culture. These obstacles hinder women’s more significant role in the public sphere. This study concludes that although Balee Inong in Banda Aceh City provides opportunities for increasing women’s participation, it has not had a substantial impact on reaching all women in Banda Aceh City. The limitation of this study is that it has not fully reached women in Banda Aceh City who represent Balee Inong because of different perspectives and not yet significantly represented. This study highlights the need for more realistic efforts through comprehensive empowerment to distribute the understanding and goals of Balee Inong in the public domain.
