Abstract

The overall objectives of the research were (1) to study the capability of sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) and sulfidic natural water (SNW) of Sebau in recovery of Cu2+, (2) to investigate the potency of integrating treatments of neutralization with sulfidization using SNW of Sebau in removing Cu2+ from acid mine drainage (AMD) collected from Batu Hijau site. The first objective was achieved by separately reacting (in situ) NaHS and SNW with a Cu2+ solution at pH 5.5. The second objective was answered by conducting treatments of lime-neutralization by the use of three levels of pH (4.0; 5.5; 7.0) and sulfidization using SNW collected from Sebau, Lombok Island at three sampling points. The result showed that NaHS (61.6 mg/L) could precipitate Cu2+ solution (44.45 mg/L) up to 71.3%, while SNW of Sebau could precipitate Cu2+ solution (44.45 mg/L) for almost 100% at pH 5.5. The results also revealed that SNW could precipitate the remained Cu2+ in the AMD from the neutralization treatment (pH 4 = 113.5 mg/L; pH 5.5 = 85.01 mg/L; and pH 7.0 = 2.372 mg/L) to 83.84% (pH = 4.0) and 100% (pH = 5.5 and 7.0). Although both pH 5.5 and 7.0 could completely precipitate Cu2+ in the AMD, by comparing the experimental result with the stoichiometric analysis, it was predicted that pH 5.5 was an optimum pH level for the reaction between AMD and SNW to recover Cu2+ in the AMD. Without neutralization treatment, SNW showed potentiality to recover Cu2+ since the combination treatments of neutralization at pH 4 with SNW collected from three sample points resulted in a high percent recovery of Cu2+.

Abstract

Background: The success of implementing a sustainable event in a tourist destination cannot be separated from the influence of the quality of human resources (human capital) and planning strategies. However, studies of the interdependence between human capital and planning strategies in achieving successful implementation of sustainable events, especially on the island of Lombok, are still limited Methodology: This study aims to examine and analyze the extent to which aspects of human capital and strategic planning play a role in optimizing the implementation of events on the island of Lombok. The method used is a literature review from journals and trusted sources, as well as problem analysis through in-depth interviews with resource persons involved in the implementation of the event. The focus of this study is to compare tourism events, namely the Bali Arts Festival (PKB) in Bali and the Bau Nyale Festival in Lombok Findings: The results of in-depth interviews with several sources show that the PKB held on the island of Bali is still superior in the number of enthusiasts and concepts than the implementation of the Bau Nyale Festival on the island of Lombok. This is shown by the length of the PKB implementation and the age of the PKB which has been going on in the past 4 decades ago. In addition, the main factor that affects the sustainability of PKB is the quality of human resources in the tourism sector on the island of Bali, which is superior to the island of Lombok, so as to be able to formulate effective and creative planning in packaging the event. To achieve the sustainability of the event in Lombok, it is necessary to increase human capital and appropriate planning strategies through counselling, training, and the availability of Meeting study programs. Conclusion: Human capital and strategic planning play important roles for achieving sustainable event to support the development of tourist destination. The result of comparison study between Bali Arts Festival and Bau Nyale Festival shows that Bali Arts Festival was greater than Bau Nyale festival in terms of numbers of visitors and implementation concepts. This was proved by the length of festival and number of tourists visiting. Bali Arts Festival has been run for about 40 years, while Bau Nyale Festival has been currently occurred in Lombok. In addition, human capital in Bali Arts Festival was greater showing in how well management applied during the event, so that, it is able to plan with a precise strategy in achieving sustainable event.

Abstract

The existence of Mandalika as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Lombok, and as one of the super-priority destinations brings an opportunity to Indonesia, especially to recover from the impact of economic recession due to the Covid-19 pandemic and 8.0 Earthquake in West Nusa Tenggara province. One of the greatest opportunities is the international event of MOTOGP to be held in Mandalika Circuit for about ten years. As a vocational institution, Lombok Tourism Polytechnic conducted several programs to support the acceleration of tourism recovery, especially in the SEZ Mandalika and its supporting areas through increasing the capacity of human resources, particularly in SEZ Mandalika and its surroundings. These programs are workshops in hospitality service, technical guidance in creating foods and beverages from local sources, making beds, and improving skills in a foreign language. There were 120 targeted participants in this activity consisting of security personnel, street vendors, the manager or owner of SARHUNTA and homestays around SEZ Mandalika and its buffer areas. The duration of this project was 6 months, through observation, coordination, programming, implementation of workshop activities and technical guidance as well as gathering feedback from the conducted activities. After conducting the activities, most participants stated that the programs supported and facilitated their work, and they could improve their knowledge and skills in many aspects. However, intensive coaching is needed, especially in small groups to optimize the results of these programs.

Abstract

Sustainable tourism management is a crucial aspect that needs attention to improve the quality of destinations. Sekotong, an area in West Lombok regency, has a lot of potential that can be developed to support sustainable tourism, while studies on identifying the potential and implementing sustainable tourism in this area are still limited. This study aims to identify tourism potential in Sekotong as a tourism product and evaluate the implementation of sustainable tourism management in each destination of Sekotong. Data collection was carried out through the observation of four representative destinations, namely Mangrove Sekotong Tengah and Elak-Elak Beach representing marine tourism, Mareje Village for rural tourism, and 3 Gilis (Naggu, Tangkong, Sudak) representing island tourism. The research was conducted by observing the potencies of these destinations and then reviewing the implementation of the concept of sustainability. To obtain more information, researchers interviewed managers or tourism operators at each destination. The observation and interview referred to 4 pillars of the GSTC sustainable tourism standards. The results showed that there is a potential for cultural tourism products in Mareje village, marine and underwater tourism activities in 3 Gilis and Elak-Elak beach, as well as marine-based educational tours in Mangrove Sekotong Selatan. Referring to the 4 pillars in sustainable tourism, however, the management and provision of facilities need to be standardized and improved. In addition, several important strategies need to be implemented in improving the quality of these destinations such as synchronization among stakeholders and training in implementing destination management by considering all sustainable tourism concepts in accordance with the 4 pillars in the GSTC criteria.

Abstract

Currently, there is no urgency in the context of Local Tour Guide competency which is the main concern in developing the quality of human resources, especially in one of the tourist destinations, namely the Sesaot tourist village. In several studies, it is stated that the level of competence has an important role as an indicator in supporting service performance in a tourism destination, but there has been no research regarding the perception of local tour guides regarding their competence. Therefore, this research raises this issue using a descriptive qualitative approach. The data in this research was obtained through a process of observation, interviews and documentation. Interviews were conducted with three informants from BUMDES, tourism awareness group (POKDARWIS) and local guides, where these three components influence the resource competency development program in the Sesaot tourist village. The data collection process was carried out for 3 months, followed by data analysis using the Creswell approach for qualitative research. Based on the results of observations and interviews, it was found that village administrators and local tour guides have the same view regarding the importance of competency certification for local guides and expect assistance from the government or related agencies in assisting local tour guide competency certification in supporting service performance in the Sesaot tourist village. However, the implementation of competency certification for tour guides has not been implemented due to minimal government support or suboptimal planning. Considering this, annual planning for increasing human resources in the Sesaot tourist village needs to be included in the village's annual planning

Abstract

The Gili Mas cruise ship port has become a huge opportunity for developing tourism on the island of Lombok, especially Sekotong area which is a buffer area for the port. However, in its operations, in the last half decade, there has been no research examining the impact of the existence of the Gili Mas port in supporting tourism development in its buffer area. This research aims to explore the role and existence of the Gili Mas cruise ship port in supporting the tourism industry in the Sekotong area. The research method used is descriptive analysis, with data collected through surveys, literature studies, and interviews with 3 informants from the government industry, travel and the community as managers of the destination. The results of this research are that the presence of cruise ships does not show a high intensity of visits to destinations in the Sekotong area. This is demonstrated by direct interviews conducted with informants from both the government and destination managers. The aspects that influence this are in terms of the suitability of the destination to the preferences of cruise ship tourists, most of whom are elderly tourists, and the readiness of each destination in the Sekotong area to adapt to existing tourists. To be able to increase the number of tourist visits to Sekotong, there needs to be increased promotion and guarantees that the places to be visited in the area are safe in terms of accessibility, amenities and activities that can be carried out by elderly tourists who make up the majority on cruise ships

Abstract

Limbungan Traditional Village is located in Perigi Village with traditional potential that can be introduced as one of the tourist attractions in the village. Apart from that, there are many potential tourist attractions whose potential the people in Perigi village have not yet realized. The main obstacle in this village is the absence of special human resources focused on developing and managing the area as a tourist attraction, even though the East Lombok Regency government has designated Perigi village, especially the Limbungan Traditional Village, for tourism development. Therefore, the Lombok Poltekpar Service Team designed a human resource development program consisting of preparation stages, baseline study, coordination, coaching and mentoring, monitoring and evaluation. Based on the activities carried out, there are around 25 active young people who have been formed to develop Perigi village and Limbungan Traditional Village as tourist attractions. The provisions that have been obtained from increasing human resource capacity include the ability to prepare tour packages, story telling and basic services to guests. It is hoped that this activity to increase human resource capacity can be the first step for the village government and community to develop their village into a tourist attraction and provide awareness or sustainable benefits in the tourism sector.
