Abstract

Cardamom (Amomum compactum) is a high-value spice with significant applications in the pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetics industries. The increasing global demand makes cardamom a promising commodity for agricultural expan sion. However, limited information on land suitability in Padang Jaya Subdistrict poses a challenge to optimizing cultivation. This study aimed to map the land suitability classes for cardamom cultivation and assess the potential for cardamom development in Padang Jaya Subdistrict, North Bengkulu. The research involved in field surveys, soil sampling, laboratory analysis, and GIS-based land suitability evaluation using the FAO framework. Key parameters as sessed included rooting media, nutrient retention, slope, and climate condition in the past 10 years. The FAO classification system categorized land into four suitability classes, namely: S1 (high suitable), S2 (moderately suitable), S3 (marginally suitable), and N (not suitable). The result indicate the actual land suitability is predominantly S3nrnaeh and S2nrnaeh, with major limiting factors including rooting media, nutrient retention, nutrient availability, and slope. Land improvement efforts such as liming, organic matter applications, fertilization, and soil conservation techniques led to an increase in land suitability, with 62.3% of S3 land upgraded to S2 and 37.7% of S2 land reached S1. Furthermore, GIS-based analysis identified four land cover types suitable for extensification: mixed gardens, seasonal crops, plantations, and bare land, totaling 8,747.71 hectares. These findings provide valuable insights for optimizing land use planning, improving productivity, and promoting sustainable agricultural development. Integrating GIS and remote sensing in future studies could enhance land suitability assessments with a more refined spatial scale. The results also serve as a scientific reference for policymakers and farmers in designing sustainable land management strategies and minimizing environmental degradation.

Abstract

The research was aimed to study the efect of choosing different contour interval to produce Digital Elevation Model on a fully raster-based erosion modeling of The Universal Soil Loss Equation using remote sensing data and a geographical information system technique.  Methods were applied by analyzing all factors that affecting erosion in GIS environment such data were in the form of raster. Those data were R , K, LS, C and P factors. LS factor was derived from Digital Elevation Model by taking flow direction from each pixel into consideration. Research used 3 contour intervals to produce Digital Elevation Model, i.e. 12.5, 25 and 50 meter. C factor was derived from the formula after applying linearly regression analysis between Normalized Difference Vegetation index of remote sensing data and C factor measured directly on the field. Another analysis was the creation of map of Bulk Density used to convert erosion unit as from Mg ha-1mo-1 to mm mo-1. To know the model accuracy,  validation of the model was done by applying statistical analysis and by comparing the result of erosion model (Emodel) with actual erosion (Eactual) which was measured regularly in Merawu watershed. A threshold value of > 0.80 or > 80% was chosen to justify whether the model was accurate or not. The results showed that all Emodel using 3 countour intervals have correlation value of > 0.8. These results were strenghtened with the result of analysis of variance which showing there were no difference between Emodel and Eactual. Among the 3 models, only Emodel using 50 meter countour interval reached the accuracy of 81.13% while the other only had 50.87% (using countour interval 25 meter) and 32.92% (using countour interval 12.5 meter).

Abstract

This study tests the structural performance of the Pancanaka 2000 tooth bucket, a common heavy-duty excavation component. The goals are to determine the component testing method, analyze the findings of finite element simulation sub-modeling, and identify the causes of structural failure. Shining 3D scanning created a detailed model of the Pancanaka 2000 tooth bucket. ANSYS simulation software performed a Finite Element Analysis on this model. A 10-ton static force was applied to imitate working circumstances on the bucket teeth tip. The simulation monitored mechanical reactions, including total displacement, von Mises stress, and safety factors, which indicate structural reliability. The study found numerous noteworthy findings. First, the computerized model of the bucket teeth allowed for an exact analysis of loading stress. The simulation revealed a region susceptible to failure under high loads, characterized by a maximum total displacement of 0.38883 mm, a maximum von Mises stress of 321.5 MPa, and a minimum safety factor of 1.328. Qualitative analysis identified material as the leading cause of fracture. Wear and scraping were noticed at the bucket tooth-adapter interface. Mechanical failure was also linked to component gaps exceeding design tolerance. These flaws lead to inappropriate load distribution and stress concentration, resulting in structural failure during operation. According to this study, the durability and performance of excavator components, such as the Pancanaka 2000 teeth bucket, depend on correct design, strict material selection, and precise assembly tolerances.
