Abstract

The objective of this study is to ascertain the impact of implementing PjBL on the English learning outcomes of students at MAN 1 Dompu in the 2024 academic year. The present research employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pre-test–post-test design using a quantitative approach. The population under study comprised all 216 eleventh-grade students. The sample population for this study comprised 25 students from class XI Science 2, which was designated as the experimental class. Sixteen students participated in the pre-test and seventeen in the post-test. The purposive sampling technique was utilized in this study. The data were collected through the administration of pre-tests and post-tests and subsequently analysed using a normality test. The pre-test results demonstrated an average score of 57, while the post-test average increased to 80, indicating an improvement of 23 points. Subsequent analysis of the post-test data was conducted using a t-test, which yielded a t-count of 1.728. The obtained value of 0.104 was then compared with the threshold of 0.05. In consideration of the findings, a statistically significant discrepancy was identified in the student learning outcomes before and after the implementation of PjBL. In reference to the proposed hypotheses Ha: there is an effect of applying the PjBL model on the learning outcomes of MAN 1 Dompu students, and H?: there is no such effect the findings support the acceptance of Ha. Consequently, it can be concluded that the implementation of PjBL had a positive effect on the English learning outcomes of MAN 1 Dompu students in the 2024 academic year.

Abstract

Historian Adventure is an edutainment learning medium that incorporates both educational and entertainment components with the objective of rendering the process of learning history more engaging and interactive. The objective of this research is to develop edutainment learning media, Historian Adventure, on Indonesian history during the Hindu-Buddhist period based on Bima-Dompu local history at the university level. The research methodology employed is that of development research (R&D), with reference to Thiagarajan's 4-D (Four-D) model, which comprises four stages: defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. This research involved the input of material experts, learning media experts, and 30 students enrolled in the History Education Study Program at STKIP Yapis Dompu. The results of the feasibility study indicate that the developed media meets the highest standards of feasibility, with an initial assessment by media experts yielding a score of 89.23% (very feasible) and an increased score of 95.38% in the second stage. The results of the initial trial demonstrated a feasibility score of 86.54%, indicating a high level of suitability for the intended purpose. The subsequent trial yielded a similar score of 86.64%, confirming the continued high feasibility of the learning media. In light of the aforementioned results, it can be posited that the Historian Adventure learning media is an efficacious pedagogical tool for the acquisition of knowledge pertaining to Indonesian history during the Hindu-Buddhist period, based on local history. The adventure format enables students to engage with historical events, identify Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms, and comprehend the impact of Hindu-Buddhist religion and culture, particularly in the context of Bima-Dompu.

Abstract

Figurative meaning often presents challenges in translation, especially in song lyrics where meaning, emotion, and artistic expression must be conveyed simultaneously. This study examines the translation methodology for the figurative meanings in the bilingual song lyrics “Just Give Me a Reason” by Pink featuring Nate Ruess and its Indonesian version, “Berilah Aku Satu Alasan.” The objective of this research is to identify the types of figurative expressions used in the original lyrics and to analyze the translation methods applied in rendering them into Indonesian. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method. The data consist of figurative expressions found in the English lyrics and their corresponding translations in Indonesian. The analysis focuses on how the figurative meanings are transferred and whether the original sense is maintained. The findings reveal that several translation methods are used, including literal translation, adaptation, and paraphrasing. While some figurative expressions are preserved, others are modified to achieve naturalness and clarity in the target language. In conclusion, the translator employs flexible methods to balance meaning accuracy and lyrical acceptability.
