Abstract

Abstract: This research is to find out whether the use of simulation significantly influenced the speaking ability on the eleventh grade students of SMK LKIA Pontianak. This is a pre-experimental. The sample of this research was class XI TN that consists of 32 students. The tool of data collecting of this research was a speaking test. Based on the findings, it showed that there was significant difference score before and after taught by simulation. The students’ mean score of pre-test was 50. Then, the students’ mean score of the post-test was 61. Thus it was categorized as moderate influence. From the result of paired t-test, the students’ achievement after taught by simulation showed tratio = 12.016 is higher than tcritical = 2.042, so it can be concluded that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, but alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, the writer concluded that teaching speaking by using simulation was succed.   Keywords: speaking, simulation, eleventh grade students, pre-experimental Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan simulasi secara signifikan mempengaruhi kemampuan berbicara pada siswa SMK LKIA Pontianak. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pre-eksperimen. Sampel penelitian ini menggunakan kelas XI TN yang terdiri dari 32 siswa. Alat pengumpulan data dari penelitian ini adalah tes berbicara. Berdasarkan temuan, menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan hasil nilai berbicara siswa yang signifikan pada sebelum dan setelah diajarkan dengan menggunakan metode simulasi. Hasil nilai rata-rata pada pre-test siswa adalah 50. Selanjutnya, hasil nilai rata-rata pada post-test siswa adalah 61. Dengan demikian, hasil tersebut dapat dikategorikan sebagai cukup berpengaruh. Dari hasil uji-t berpasangan, prestasi siswa setelah diajarkan dengan imenggunakan simulasi menunjukkan t-ratio = 12,016 lebih tinggi dari t-critical = 2,042, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa nol hipotesis (Ho) ditolak, tetapi alternatif hipotesis (Ha) diterima. Oleh karena itu, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa pengajaran berbicara dengan menggunakan metode simulasi telah sukses.   Kata kunci : berbicara, siswa kelas sebelas, pre-eksperimen

Abstract

AbstractThe research purpose is to see how far the improvement of students’ narrative writing has been made by using WH-Questions as a guide. The research method that used is a classroom action research and the data were collected by direct observation technique in the teaching learning process through field notes as the tools of research. The research was conducted in two cycles. The first cycle was conducted on 28 October 2011 and the second cycle on 3 November 2011. After conducting the research, the writer got the data which show that WH-Questions increased the students’ narrative writing in the classroom activity. The finding of this research showed that WH-Questions can help students to improve students’narrative writing, it is looked by the score from 58.13 at first cycle and 78.39 at second cycle.Keywords: WH-Questions, narrative writing

Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of animated video in teaching writing descriptive text to the eighth grade students of SMPN 14 Pontianak in academic year 2018/2019. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of SMPN 14 Pontianak in academic year 2018/2019. The researcher took the sample by using cluster random sampling technique. The sample of this research was the students of class VIII B which consisted of 24 students. The data were collected through measurement technique and written test. The data showed that the effect size of the treatment was 0.85, and it was categorized as moderate effect. The findings of the research obviously showed that the used of animated video was significantly effective to teach writing descriptive text to the eighth grade students of SMPN 14 Pontianak in academic year 2018/2019. Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to find out the correlation of scanning, skimming, and local folklore with comprehending narrative text to the eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Sambas in academic year 2013/2014. This research was conducted as a correlation study by using four variables. The sample of this research were class XI class science II. The data were collected by using multiple choices consisting of fifteen items and questioner consisting of 6 questions, and were analyzed by using moment product Pearson formula. The finding shows that the correlation between the knowledge of skimming and scanning and local folklore material selection with comprehending narrative text is 0,18 or categorized as very low or negligible effect.. Keywords: Skimming, Scanning, Local Folklore, Comprehending Narrative Text Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana korelasi antara pengetahuan tehnik membaca skimming, scanning dan cerita rakyat local dengan kemampuan memahami teks naratif terhadap siswa kelas XI SMAN 1 Sambas tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode korelasi ganda dengan empat variabel. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari kelas XI IA 2. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui tes pilihan ganda yang berjumlah 15 soal dan kuesioner 6 soal dan data tersebut dianalisa dengan menggunakan rumus moment product pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa korelasi antara tehnik membaca skimming, scanning dan materi cerita rakyat lokal adalah 0,18 atau dikategorikan memiliki efek lemah atau hampir tidak ada. Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to investigate how well Think Pair Share technique can improve students activeness to the ten grade students of SMA Bina Mandiri Teluk Pakedai. The research conducted this project in order to solve the problems encountered in the classroom.Since it is to improve students activeness in teaching learning process. The appropriate technique that was applied in this research is a classroom action research with the cycle of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The participant of this research is the students in ten grade students of SMA Bina Mandiri Teluk Pakedai in academic 2017/2018, which consist of 15 students.After collecting the data, the writer found out that the Think Pair Share technique was useful to students activeness. Based on students abservation, the researcher discovered a good mark that was shown by students activeness from cycle to cycle was increases. The students activeness in the first cycle was moderate. The students activeness in the second cycle was good.The finding of the classroom action research were satisfying. All the indicator of success had been fulfilled. The students activeness was increased and teaching learning become better. Think Pair Share helps students to improving the activeness. Key words: Think Pair Share, Activeness

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to improve the students’ speaking fluency through the use ofDrafting Note for Speaking (DNS). The method used is a classroom action research which consisted of 3 cycles. The subjects of this research were tenth grade students of MAN 1 Pontianak which were consist of 33 students. The result of data analysis showed that using Drafting Note for Speaking (DNS) improved the students’ speaking fluency along the cycle. First cycle was 39 points which were categorized into poor qualifications, the figure improved by 50 points qualified into poor to average in the second cycle, and 81 points qualified into good to excellent in the third cycle.   Keywords: Speaking Fluency,Improvement, Drafting Note for Speaking (DNS)   Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kelancaran siswa dalam berbicara melalui penggunaan Penyusunan Catatan untuk Berbicara (DNS). Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari 3 siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MAN 1 Pontianak yang terdiri dari 33 siswa. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa menggunakan Penyusunan Catatan untuk Berbicara (DNS) meningkatkan kelancaran berbicara siswa sepanjang siklus. Abstract

Abstract: This research attempt to identify thesis writing: methods, research focus (teaching technique and media) and the educational level within the thesis. The appropriate method of this research is the descriptive method in which it provides information about conditions and events that occur in the present. The students’ theses writing is selected based on ranging year from 2009 to 2013. The findings of this research are (1) Classroom Action research is the most preferable method selected by the students (2) 16 researches focused on teaching technique and eight others on teaching media, while three theses focused on both teaching technique and teaching media. (3) 17 researches conducted in the junior high, nine were in the senior high and two others were in the elementary school. This research may help the other students decide other potential methods, focuses and educational level as their main concerns for their future researches.   Keywords: identify, thesis, writing, research, methodologies. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tesis dalam menulis: metode, fokus penelitian (teknik mengajar dan media) dan tingkat pendidikan di dalam tesis. Metode yang tepat dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif yang memberikan informasi tentang kondisi dan peristiwa yang terjadi di masa sekarang. Tesis dalam menulis dipilih di mulai dari tahun 2009 hingga 2013. Temuan penelitian ini adalah (1) Penelitian Tindakan Kelas adalah metode yang paling banyak dipilih oleh siswa (2) 16 penelitian difokuskan pada teknik pengajaran dan delapan penelitian pada media pembelajaran, sementara tiga tesis difokuskan pada teknik mengajar dan media penbelajaran. (3) 17 penelitian yang dilakukan di SMP, sembilan berada di SMA dan dua lainnya berada di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu siswa lain memutuskan metode-metode potensial lainnya, teknik dan media pembelajaran serta tingkat pendidikan karena untuk penelitian lebih lanjut. Abstract

Abstract: The main focus of this research is to find the moral values contained in the novel by doing the analysis. To analyze the novel , descriptive analysis is used in this research. The analysis itself is done after following the steps for describing the things that happened in the novel, such as the conflicts between the characters, the plot twist, etc. After doing the analysis through its theme, plot and characters, this novel contains some moral values which divided into positive and negative moral values. The positive moral values are calmness, responsible, kind and good understanding; the negative moral values are heartlessness, greedy, sly, odd, excessive sensibility, and tricky. Those moral values can be applied in the teaching and learning process, especially in English Education Study Program. There are the implementations of the moral values in this novel for teaching and learning process, specifically for English Education Study Program. Based on the analysis, this novel is recommended as one of the literature subjects’ material and suitable for the students considering to their mental age. Keywords: Sense and Sensibility, Analysis, Moral Values Abstrak: Fokus utama dalam penelitian ini adalah menemukan nilai-nilai moral yang terkandung di dalam novel dengan melakukan analisis. Analisis deskriptif digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk menganalisa novel. Analisis dilakukan setelah mengikuti langkah-langkah untuk mendeskripsikan hal-hal yang terjadi di dalam novel, seperti konflik antar karakter, alur, dan sebagainya. Setelah menyelesaikan analisis pada tema, alur, dan karakter, novel ini mengandung nilai-nilai moral  yang mana dibagi menjadi nilai moral positif dan nilai moral negatif. Nilai moral yang positif adalah bersikap tenang, tanggung jawab, baik hati dan pengertian; nilai moral yang negatif adalah dingin hati, serakah, licik, kikuk, sikap berlebihan dan culas. Semua nilai moral tersebut dapat diterapkan dalam proses belajar mengajar, khususnya untuk Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan pada analisis, novel ini direkomendasikan sebagai salah satu dari bahan mengajar mata kuliah Sastra dan sesuai bagi mahasiswa menilik dari usia mental para mahasiswa.  Kata kunci: Sense and Sensibility, Analisis, Nilai Moral

Abstract

AbstractThis research was designed to improve students’ descriptive writing through the use of video materials to the Class F students of Year - 7 in SMP N 1 Sungai Raya Academic Year 2017 / 2018 which consisted of 36 students. The research problem asked about the students’ improvement in descriptive writing in terms of organization, grammar, vocabulary and mechanic. This research applied Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisted of three cycles. Each cycle was conducted in three meetings consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The tools to collect data were observation checklists, field notes, photographs, and written test. The findings showed that there was an improvement in quantitative analysis from cycle to cycle from 51,5 in the first cycle, 64,4 in the second cylce, and 79 in the third cycle. Meanwhile the improvement of the teaching learning behaviour in qualitative analysis was notified from the classroom observation and field notes which were discussed with collaborator. The cycle stopped in the third cycle because it has reached the criteria of classroom action research success. Through the use of video materials, the students know how to write a descriptive text appropriately. In conclusion, the research showed that the use of video materials improved the students’ descriptive writing.  Keywords: Video Materials, Writing, Descriptive Text, Classroom Action Research

Abstract

Abstract : This research aims to find out the effectiveness of the animated short film as media for teaching English narrative writing on the third grade students of SMA Negeri 8 Pontianak in academic year 2014/2015. The research method that used is a quasi-experimental and the research design that used is non-equivalent control group design. The study sample is 60 students. The result of data analysis showed that mean score of the experimental class was higher (from 36.67 to 75.33) than control class (from 41.33 to 62.50). The computation of the effect size with the score 1.48 ( > 1.00) shows that the use of animated short film as media has the strong effect for teaching English narrative writing.   Keywords : writing, narrative text, animated short film.   Abstrak : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan keefektifan dari film pendek animasi sebagai media untuk mengajar menulis narrative dalam bahasa inggris pada siswa kelas tiga dari SMA Negeri 8 Pontianak tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu dengan rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah non-equivalent control group. Sampel penelitian ini adala 60 siswa. Hasil analisis data menunjukan bahwa nilai rata-rata dari kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi (36,67-75,33) daripada kelas kontrol (41,33-62,50). Perhitungan dari ukuran efek dengan nilai 1,48 (>1,00) menunjukan bahwa kegunaan dari film pendek animasi sebagai media memiliki efek yang kuat untuk mengajar menulis narative dalam bahasa inggris.   Kata Kunci : menulis, teks narative, film pendek animasi
