Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to find out the effectiveness of the use of contextual analysis in teaching vocabulary to the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Pontianak in academic year 2013/2014. This research was conducted as a pre experimental research with the one group pretest-posttest. The sample of this research were class X MIA 1 as the experimental class. The data were collected through pretest and posttest by using multiple choice consisting of twenty items and were analyzed by using Effect Size (ES) formula. The finding shows that the effect of treatment is 1.3 (>1.00) or categorized as strong effect. It indicates that the use of contextual analysis is effective in teaching vocabulary. Keywords: Contextual Analysis, vocabulary Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan penggunaan analisis konteks dalam pengajaran kosa kata terhadap siswa kelas X MAN 2 Pontianak tahun ajaran 203/2014. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode pre eksperimen dengan desain pretest dan posttest. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari kelas X MIA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui pretest dan posttest dengan menggunakan tes pilihan ganda yang berjumlah dua puluh soal dan data tersebut dianalisa dengan menggunakan rumus ES (Tingkat Efektifitas). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa efek dari penggunaan contextual analysis adalah 1.3 (>1.00) atau dikategorikan memiliki efek yang kuat. Hal ini menandakan bahwa penggunaan contextual analysis efektif dalam pengajaran kosa kata. Kata kunci : Analisis Konteks, Kosa Kata

Abstract

This research was aimed to answer theseproblems;(1) ifthe S.M.A.R.T strategy improves students’ ability to comprehend descriptive texts, and if so, (2) how well the S.M.A.R.T strategy improves students’ ability to comprehend descriptive texts. The data of this research was collected by using measurement technique  in form of multiple choice to measure the students’ achievement. The total of test items were 20 items. The researcher employed KR21 formula to calculate the reliability of try out test, and the result was 0.718 (Substantial). The finding of this research showed that the meanof pretest ( is 65.83, and for the mean of posttset ( is 78.89, it is shown improvement. Then, is 4.936 and the  is 2.030, so the  is higher than (4.936 > 2.030), it mean that Ha is accepted, the S.M.A.R.T strategy improves student’s ability to comprehend descriptive texts. Keywords: S.M.A.R.T Strategy, comprehending, Descriptive Texts.  Abstrak: Penelitian inibertujuan untuk menjawab masalah – masalah tersebut dibawah ini; (1)  apakah strategi S.M.A.R.T meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami teks deskriptif, dan jika iya, (2) Seberapa baik strategi S.M.A.R.T untuk meningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami teks deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan menggunakan tekhnik hitungan dalam bentuk pilihan ganda untuk mengukur pencapaian siswa.Jumlah test ada 20 soal. Peneliti mencari formula KR21 untuk menghitung reliability test, dan hasilnya adalah 0.718 (substantial). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan rata – rata pretest ( adalah 65.83, dan untuk rata – rata posttest (  adalah 78.89, menunjukkan peningkatan. Selanjutnya, adalah 4.936 danadalah 2.030, jadi nilai lebih tinggi dari  (4.936 > 2.030), yang berarti bahwa Ha diterima, StrategiS.M.A.R.T meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami teks deskriptif. Abstract

  Abstract: The purpose of this research is to improve students’ speaking skills by using interview technique. This research used a classroom action research as form of research. The subject of this research is class VIII A at SMP Negeri 19 Pontianak in academic year 2014/2015 which consists of 40 students. The techniques of collecting data in this research are observation and measurement and the tools of collecting data are observation checklist, field notes and test of speaking. Based on the data revealed in observation, there were improvements in students’ speaking skills in every cycle. Students’ mean score in the first cycle was 48% which was categorized poor. In the second cycle the mean score of students was 59% which was categorized poor to average. Then, in the third cycle the mean score of students was 72% which was categorized average to good. In conclusion, Interview Technique improves the students’ speaking skills at second grade students of SMP Negeri 19 Pontianak in academic year 2014/2015. Keywords: Speaking skills, Interview technique Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa dengan menggunakan teknik Interview. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 19 Pontianak tahun ajaran 2014/2015 yang berjumlah 40 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang di gunakan adalah observasi dan pengukuran dengan alat pengumpulan data daftar observasi, catatan lapangan dan uji kemampuan berbicara. Data yang diperoleh melalui pengamatan mengungkapkan bahwa kemampuan berbicara siswa meningkat disetiap siklus. Nilai rata-rata siswa pada siklus pertama adalah 48% yang dikategorikan sangat rendah. Pada siklus kedua, nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 59% yang dikategorikan rendah. Kemudian, pada siklus ketiga, nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 72% yang dikategorikan baik. Kesimpulannya, teknik Interview meningkatkan kemampuan berbicarasiswa kelas dua SMP Negeri 19 Pontianak pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Kata kunci: Kemampuan berbicara, teknik Interview

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research was to investigate whether the students’ achievement in reading comprehension on hortatory exposition text increases significantly when it was taught by using KWL strategy.  This was a pre- experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test design. The participant of this research was students in eleventh grade spesifically class AKL 3 of SMK Negeri 1 Pontianak in Academic Year 2018/2019. There were 36 students who participated in this research. The data had been collected by using measurement technique. The tools of data collection was multiple choice tests. The data were calculated and the result showed that the mean score of students’ pre-test was 53.05 while the post-test was 84.30. the different score between pre-test and post-test was 31.25. Based on the research finding the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected while alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The calculation of the t-test showed that the t-ratio was higher than the t value  (4.690> 2.021) at a degree of freedom (df) = N- 1 (36-1) and at 95% of confidence (p= 0.05). To conclude, the use of KWL Strategy was significant and effective to teach hortatory exposition reading comprehension to the eleventh grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Pontianak in Academic Year 2018/2019. Keywords : KWL Strategy, Pre-Experimental Research, Reading Comprehension

Abstract

Abstract : the purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of teaching reading comprehension on narrative text using numbered heads together technique. Numbered heads together is a technique that can make the students become more active in teaching learning. The writer uses Pre-experimental research and the sample of this research is the eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Sungai Kakap in which consist of 32 students. The technique of data collecting used is measurement technique and the tool of data collecting is multiple choice test. The data were calculated with the result of students` pre-test is 5.03, the post-test is 7.38. The students` different score between pre-test and post-test is 2.35. From the calculation of t-test that the observed t-test is 13.23 with the degree of freedom 31which is the significant of level of 0.05. The writer finds out that the result of t-test is bigger than t-table (13.23 > 2,204). It is found that the Effect Size (ES) analysis of the effectiveness of teaching reading comprehension on narrative text using numbered heads together technique is 2.17. It is categorized “high”. As the result, teaching reading comprehension on narrative text using numbered heads together technique is highly effective in terms of increasing the students` mean score of narrative text reading comprehension. Tehnik numbered heads together  adalah sebuah tehnik yang bisa membuat siswa menjadi lebih aktif dalam proses belajar mengajar. Penulis menggunakan penelitian Pre-experimental. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas sebelas SMAN 2 Sungai Kakap yang terdiri dari 32 siswa. Tehnik pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan tehnique pengukuran dan alat pengumpulan datanya menggunakan soal pilihan ganda. Penghitungan data dari penelitian ini berdasarkan hasil pre-test 5,03 dan nilai post-test 7,38. Jumlah perbedaan nilai pre-test dan post-test adalah 2,38. Dari penghitungan t-test yang diobservasi adalah 13,23 dengan degree of freedom 31 dengan level signifikan 0,05. Penulis mendapatkan hasil effect size dari mengajar memahami teks naratif menggunakan numbered heads together sebesar 2,17. Hasil ini dikategorikan sebagai “tinggi”. Abstract

This research is about the use of Auditory Cohesion Activity to raise students listening ability on advance learner of TEFL. The researcher took sample from Eleventh Grade of SMA SANTUN UNTAN Pontianak in Academic Year 2017-2018. The aim of this research was to find out how effective the use of Auditory Cohesion Activity to raise students listening ability is. In conducting this research, the researcher used a Pre-experimental as the method of the research. This research consisted of 3 phases, namely; pre-test, treatment, and post-test.  The researcher provided the material and the media that needed in this research. The English teacher of SMA SANTUN led the students did the test and the treatment. The finding of this research shows that there was an improvement on students listening ability through Auditory Cohesion Activity. The effectiveness of Auditory Cohesion Activity on students listening ability could be seen from students’ activity through the whole auditory cohesion activity phase and students’ test score. It has shown by the result of post-test which was higher than pre-test. Before the treatment was given, the mean score of pre-test was 26.40. After they had been given treatment the mean score of students’ post-test is 46.30. From the data analysis, the result of the effect size computation is 3.8. It is higher than 0.5. It means that the use of auditory cohesion activity gave a significant effect, to increase students listening ability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan pola dan mengukur intensitas hubungan antar-kelompok siswa etnis Melayu, Dayak, Tionghoa, dan Madura di empat sekolah swasta berbasis etno-religi (ethno-religio segregation/E-RS) di Kota Pontianak: SMA Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman (Melayu-Islam), SMA Yayasan Pendidikan Kristen (YPK)[Dayak-Nasrani], SMA Kristen Immanuel (Tionghoa-Nasrani, Konghucu, Budha), dan Madrasah Aliyah Swasta (MAS) Al-Anwar (Madura-Islam), berdasarkan sikap dan perilaku berprasangka (prejudice) dan stereotip terhadap etnis dan agama. Metode campuran kualitatif-kuantitatif digunakan pada tahap penelitian. Pada tahap pengembangan rumusan model pendidikan multikultural diuji melalui diskusi kelompok terbatas (Focus Group Discussion/FGD). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan  bahwa sekolah E-RS menampilkan pola-pola hubungan antarkelompok etnis-agama yang khas, seperti ethno-sentrisme, cinta-benci (approach-avoidance) dan benci-cinta (avoidance-approach), saling membenci (avoidance-avoidance) atau berseteru (conflicting pair), dan saling menyukai/ men-dukung (approach-approach) atau sebagai pasangan bulan madu (honeymoon). Kelompok etnis Madura cenderung dijadikan sebagai kelompok target konflik, sementara Tionghoa sebagai kelompok etnis sanjungan. Model pendidikan multikultural ramah dianggap sesuai diterapkan dalam program pendidikan di sekolah E-RS untuk membangun citra positif pada masing-masing kelompok agar prasangka (prejudice) dan bias anggapan (stereotip) dapat dikendorkan.Kata kunci: prasangka (prejudice) dan stereotip, ethno-religio segregation (E-RS), model pendidikan multikultural ramah_____________________________________________________________ MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION RAMAH MODEL FOR ETHNO-RELIGIO SEGREGATED SCHOOLS (E-RS) KOTA PONTIANAKAbstract This research is intended to formulate patterns and measure the strength of the interethnical-religious relation among students from four different ethnic groups of Malay, Dayak, Chinese, and Madurese at the ethno-religio segregated schools (E-RS) in Pontianak: Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman Senior High School (Malay-Islam),  Christian Education Foundation Senior High School/ YPK (Dayak-Christian], Immanuel Christian Senior High School (Chinese-Christian, Konghucu/Confucius, Buddha), dan Private Islamic Senior High School/MAS Al-Anwar (Madurese-Islam), based on their prejudice and stereotype attitudes toward ethnic and religion. The research applied qulititative-quantitative mixed method, and for developing the model, focus group discussion (FGD) was used. The findings show that E-RS have unique and critical interethnic-religious relation patterns, i.e. ethno-centrism, approach-avoidance, avoidance-approach, avoidance-avoidance (conflicting pair), and approach-approach (honeymoon). Madurese is treated as potential conflicting targeted group; Chinese as popular referring group among case groups. A model of Ramah (friendly attitudes and behaviours) in multicultural education is promoted to develop positive images among the groups to reduce potential prejudice and stereotypes.Keywords: prejudice and stereotype, ethno-religio segregated schools (E-RS), multicultural education ramah model

Abstract

Increasing growth of economic in developing product and services that currently happened in kubu rayadistrict encourage development of hotel planning.Development of 7th floor hotel building in Ahmad Yani street is expected to increase economy, technology access,unisolated the area, increase mobility and social contacts of the community activities.Kubu Raya district is a soft soil area, that is why construction analysis in hotel building needed, todevelopment of reinforced concrete hotel, it is expected the building fill the safety factor and comfiness. Theanalysis did to fulfil that aspect with the applicable regulation such as dead load which refers to the LoadingPlanning Guidelines for Houses and Buildings 1987, Indonesian National Standard 1727:2013 used to analyzewind loads and live loads on buildings, Indonesian National Standard 1726:2019 used to analyse earthquake loadlike define the site class, seismic design coefficient, also seismic force resisting system. Indonesian NationalStandard 2847:2013 used to design construction material that will used in preliminary design of structuralelement, concrete covers, also formula used from slab, beam, column, and foundation. Abstract

The increasing population growth, especially in West Kalimantan, is still making efforts to equalize developmentto meet housing needs by seeking land availability by building infrastructure in the form of vertical buildings,namely flats. The construction of flats supports the needs of athletes or sports participants that function astemporary residences in order to maintain the athletes' concentration, mental and physical well-being. In thebuilding there is a structure of beams, columns, foundations, floor plates and roofs. In designing the structure, itis planned to be strong enough to withstand the forces that may occur according to the load calculation, both inthe form of vertical and horizontal forces, in designing the reinforced concrete structure of an athlete's flat whichconsists of 6 floors using a roof and concrete quality (fc'). 35 MPa and steel quality (fy) 420 MPa which iscalculated based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), namely SNI 03-2847-2013 because the use of SNI03-2847-2013 can meet the calculations carried out in this study and SNI 1726-2019, as well as using theSAP2000 application for force calculations - style inside. So that the plan drawing can be made according to thecalculation results obtained. From the calculation results obtained reinforcement for the floor slab structure witha thickness of 140 mm using field reinforcement and support reinforcement D10-175. The beams used are 400mm × 600 mm, 350 mm × 600 mm and 300 × 400 mm, with D19 main reinforcement and 10 mm beugelreinforcement. The column used is 500 mm × 500 mm with reinforcement using longitudinal reinforcementmeasuring D25 and 10 mm begel reinforcement. The foundation used is a pile foundation, with a pile size of 300mm × 300 mm and a pile cap of 2100 mm × 1350 mm × 750 mm with principal reinforcement D22-150 and D12-150.

Abstract

This rental office building is designed to be built on Road Ahmad Yani, Pontianak City. Thei buildingi structure is designed usingi the Speciali Moment Resistant Framei Structure systemi (SPRMK) based on SNIi 03-2487-2013 (Requirementsi for Structurali Concretei fori Buildings). Analysis ofi earthquakei loads usingi the spectrum design methodi based on SNIi 1726-2019i (Earthquakei Resistance Planningi Proceduresi for Buildingi and Non-Buildingi Structures) for the locationi of earthquake accelerationi using the cityi ofi Tarakan. iPPPURG 2847-1989 (Guidelines for Loading Planning for Houses and Buildings) and PPPURG 1987 (Guidelines for Loading Planning for Housesi and Buildings) fori loading. In thei analysis, thei loading systemi that will be imposedi on the building isi a vertical loadingi systemi in the formi of dead andi livei loads and horizontal loads in thei form ofi earthquakei loads and structurali analysisi assistedi by computeri programmers. From the structurali analysis, it can be concludedi that the dimensionsi of the crossi section andi reinforcementi are obtained.
