Abstract

A study to detect the presence of bovine major histocompatibility complex (Bo-MHC) in maduracattle has been carried out. Lymphocyte samples were collected from 25 cattle. The protein of lymphocytesamples was analysed by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) andtransferred onto nitrocellulose membrane. Bo-MHC proteins on the membrane were detected by monoclonalantibodies (anti-Bo-MHC class I) and BAQ150A (anti-Bo-MHC class II). The proteins of 48 kDa and 11kDa were detected by MAb B5C which appeared to be the alpha and beta chain of Bo-MHC class I. MAbBAQ150A detected protein band of 26 KDa which was likely to be the beta chain of Bo-MHC class II. Bo-MHC class I dan class II were clearly detected in madura cattle by MAbs which provides a basis for furtherinvestigation on the role of the MHC in the susceptibility the animals to many diseases.

Abstract

Beef is an essential source of protein and several functional compounds that are very important for human. The quality of beef depends on both genetic and environmental factors like feed, age, sex, and others. This research aimed to determine the composition of amino acids both Bali and Wagyu beef on the different activity of muscle, i.e. active and passive. As many as 5 g of each sample was used in this study. The active beef samples were presented by Biceps femoris, and passive beef samples were presented by Longissimus dorsi. High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method was used in order to an identification of amino acids according to the standard procedure. Results of the study showed that the essential amino acids content both bali cattle and wagyu were higher than non-essential, and amino acids content originated from active muscle was higher than passive muscle. Methionine, phenylalanine, and serine on bali beef cattle were lower than wagyu beef. Overall, the content of amino acids essential was lower than non-essential. In conclusion, there is no significant difference of amino acids content both bali cattle and wagyu beef, but the function of muscle (active or passive) were known contribute to the difference of amino acids content.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of growth hormone given feed supplement and anabolic growth promoter. This research was an experimental research using Complete Random Design (CRD) with three factors. There were feed supplement, anabolic growth promoter, and sampling time. There were 20 youngmale Bali cattle and they were taken care intensively, divided into 4 group, there were control, feed supplement, anabolic growth promoter, and the combination of feed supplement and anabolic growth promoter for five months, and measured the level of growth hormone each month. The level of growth hormone was detected by using competitive Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay method. The result of the research showed that feed supplement and anabolic growth promoter increased the level of bali cattle growth hormone where feed supplement with anabolic growth promoter (P1G1) was not significantlydifferent than given feed supplement without anabolic growth promoter (P1G0). Providing feed supplement optimally by farmers is highly recommended.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to detect histological structure and histomorphometry of bali cattleand wagyu beef. The samples were collected from rib eye muscle of wagyu and bali cattle. The tissuesamples were fixed, dehydrated and embedded in paraffin and 4-5 mm sections, for histological examinationand stained with Haematoxilin-Eosin (HE). The light binocular microscope was used to identify the samples.The study showed that the beef histological structure consisted of: cells / muscle fibers, fatty and connectivetissues. The muscle fibers of wagyu were observed larger, regular, and longer compared to the Bali cattle.Additionally, intramuscular fat cells and connective tissue interlobulus were found less and thinner thanthe Bali cattle. In the area of muscle where the longitudinal cut was done, its observed that the presence ofI and A bands in Bali cattle beef were clearer compared to the wagyu. The diameter muscle fibers of balicattle beef (45.00 ±1.94 ?m), was smaller (P < 0.01) compared to the wagyu (75.00±1.82 ?m), as well as fatcell size of bali cattle beef (90.10 ±2.13 ?m) and wagyu beef (195.00±2.57?m). In conclusion, the structureof histology and histomorphometry of rib eye muscle in Bali cattle were different to the wagyu.

Abstract

A study to find out the histological structures of small intestine (ie. duodenum, jejunum, and ileum) of bali cattle have been carried out. A total of 20 small intestines were collected from the abattoir at Pesanggaran, Denpasar Bali. Histological examinations were performed on Haematoxyline Eosin stained small intestines slides. The duodenum, jejunum and ileum of the small intestines have four mucosa membranes: i) mucosa membrane, ii) sub mucosa membrane, iii) muscular membrane and, iv) serous membrane. The average thickness of mucosa membrane of duodenum, jejunum and ileum was 36,3±13,5 mm; 29,9±3,1 mm; and 38,8±11,9 mm, respectively. Each part has villi with an average length of 27,5±8,3 mm; 20,1±3,7 mm; and 18,5±4,3 mm, respectively. This mucosa membranes consist of single columnar epithelium, muscularis mucosa, and lamina propria. The average thickness of sub mucosa membrane was 47,3±15,3 mm; 10,4±2,6 mm; and 16,9±5,6 mm, respectively. Sub mucosa membrane consisted of connective tissue. The average thickness of muscular membrane was 46,9±8,8 mm; 28,1±5,1 mm; and 62,4±11,3 mm, respectively, which consisted of circular and longitudinal smooth muscle. The average thickness of serous membrane was 19,9±3,1 mm; 11,9 ±3,0 mm; and 12,1±3,6 mm, respectively, which consisted of mainly connective tissue. Goblet cells were seen through all the epithel of small intestines with the highest number seen in the ileum. Specific structure of duodenum, jejunum, and ileum which is Brunner’s glands in the sub mucosa membranes of duodenum, circular plicae in the jejunum and mesenteric gland in the ileum were also observed.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to compare the levels of growth hormone in bali cattle reared in the purification of Nusa Penida with those from other regions in Bali Province. A total of 320 sera samples were collected from bali cattle reared in Nusa Penida, Klungkung, Tabanan, Buleleng and Bangli. The levels of growth hormone was determined by using sandwich Enzime Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The results showed that a diverse levels of growth hormone in Bali cattle were observed in Bali cattle. The lowest growth hormone levels (576.4 pg/mL) was found in Bali cattle reared in Nusa Penida and the highest levels (5044.08 pg/mL) were found in the Buleleng regency. It was concluded that bovine growth hormone levels varies, depending on the regions of rared of Bali cattle. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeteksi kadar hormon pertumbuhan sapi bali yang dipelihara di wilayah pemurnian Nusa Penida dan wilayah lainnya di Provinsi Bali. Sebanyak 320 sampel serum sapi bali betina dewasa dikumpulkan dari peternakan rakyat di Nusa Penida Klungkung, Tabanan, Buleleng, dan Kabupaten Bangli. Kadar hormon pertumbuhan dideteksi dengan metode Enzime Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, kadar hormon pertumbuhan sapi bali terendah (576,4 pg/mL) ditemukan pada sapi bali yang dipelihara di Nusa Penida, sedangkan kadar hormon tertinggi (5044,08 pg/mL) ditemukan pada sapi bali yang dipelihara di Kabupaten Buleleng. Disimpulkan bahwa kadar hormon pertumbuhan sapi bali berbeda-beda, tergantung wilayah tempat pemeliharaan sapi bali.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mendiskripsikan gerakan yoga asanas, manfaat dan fungsi yoga terhadap remaja di Sanggar Jepun Bali, gerakan-gerakan yoga yang efesien, dan berguna untuk kesehatan remaja. Dalam Jurnal ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, pendekatan tersebut digunakan untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang pelaksanaan kegiatan yoga asanas bagi remaja, metode kualitatif dipakai sebagai prosedur penelitian yang menghasilkan data deskriptif berupa kata-kata tertulis atau lisan dari orang-orang atau pelaku yang dapat diamati. Pendekatan kualitatif ini diarahkan pada individu secara menyeluruh dalam keutuhan kelas. Relevansi pemilihan pendekatan ini adalah bahwa penelitian kualitatif pada prinsipnya adalah mengamati perilaku orang dalam lingkungan kehidupannya, berinteraksi dengan mereka, dan berusaha memahami aktivitas yang ada di sanggar Jepun juga dengan dunia sekitarnya.Hasil penelitian menunjukan gerakan yoga asanas Jepun Bali berjalan dengan baik meliputi : (1).Cara memilih gerakan sesuai dengan kebutuhan remaja, yaitu dengan gerakan yoga, ada lima gerakan fokok yang diterapkan yaitu : Surya Namaskar ( Penghormatan terhadap Matahari), Vrksana (Postur Pohon), Hanurasana (Postur Busur), Dhava Mukha Dhanursana (Postur Roda), dan Matsyasana (Postur Ikan). Manfaat dan fungsi Yoga Asana, menyatukan atau mengubungkan diri untuk Tuhan. Yoga juga sebagai pengendali gerak- gerak pikiran. Yoga asanas. Bagi remaja yoga asanas sangat penting di lakukan untuk meningakatkan srada, bhakti, konsentrasi, daya ingat belajar dan menjaga kematangan atau keseimbangan bagi jasmani rohani, dengan tujuaan membuka pikiriran dan spritual ke arah yang positif. Fungsi dan manfaat yoga asanas dapat menjaga tubuh menjadi lebih sehat lentur membuang racun dari dalam tubuh, serta meningkatkan rasa percaya diri, kemampuan untuk berpikir positif.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian pengaruh pemberian growth promotor terhadap kualitas kimiawi dan organoleptik daging sapi bali yang diberkan perlakuan penyuntikan growth promotor. Penelitian eksperimental ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan dua perlakuan yaitu sapi yang diberi growth promotor dan sapi kontrol (tanpa diberi growth promotor) serta dua jenis daging yaitu sirloin dan shank. Penelitian diulang sebanyak enam kali. Sebanyak 24 sampel yang berasal dari 12 ekor sapi bali jantan umur 18 bulan yang diberi growth promotor dan tanpa diberi growth promotor. Pengujian dilakukan terhadap kualitas kimia (kadar protein, lemak, kadar air) dan organoleptik (warna, aroma, tekstur dan konsistensi). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, injeksi growth promotor meningkatkan secara nyata kadar lemak dan protein kasar sedangkan kadar air daging sirloin dan shank menurun. Injeksi growth promotor memberikan warna dan tekstur yang lebih baik, namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap konsistensi dan aroma daging sapi bali.

Abstract

Meat is one of the agricultural commodities needed to meet protein needs, because meat contains high quality protein and contains complete essential amino acids. To increase the amount of meat, breeders provide feed additive and growth promoters. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on its effect on meat quality, especially meat derived from active muscles. Experimental research was conducted using a completely randomized design factorial pattern, using 24 male Bali cows aged 18 months and divided into 4 treatments, namely G0P0 / control not injected with growth promoter and without additional feed. G0P1, growth promoter is not injected but given additional feed. G1P0 was injected with the growth promoters without additional feed and G1P1 was injected with the growth promoter and given additional feed. The study was conducted for six months, and at the end of the study, 500 grams of meat samples were taken each. Measurement of water holding capacity, pH and cooking losses were carried out following the method of Joo et al. (2013). The results showed that the provision of growth promoter and additional feed had no effect on pH and water binding capacity, but the combination of treatments reduced Bali beef cooking losses. From the provision of additional feed with growth promoters can provide quality Bali beef which can be reviewed based on the location of active muscles.

Abstract

Minerals play an important role in activating the lymphoid cells. Mineral deficiency can cause interference prolifrasi in lymphocytes, particularly the expresion of CD4+. Bali cattle are hardly given additional mineral due to cattles are in semi-intensive breeding method. Therefore, this study aims to determine the expression of CD4+ lymphocytes Bali cattle after consuming of mixed mineral. The samples used were 32 male bali cattles reared in the village of Catur, Kintamani, Bangli regency. Samples were divided into 2 groups, those were: 16 individul of bali cattle was given 7.5gr additional of mixed mineral per individual/day, and theother 16 individual as acontrol. The treatmnes were conducted for 3 months. The results showed that administration of 7.5gr mixed mineral per individual/day did not show differences in the expression of CD4+ lymphocyte of bali cattle.
