Abstract

The shallot cropping pattern applied by farmers in the village of Pasir Demak is very likely to cause pollution. Pesticide contamination in pregnant women in the first trimester (3 months) can result in fetal death, low birth weight, and impaired intelligence (IQ). Preliminary research conducted in 2016 found that elementary schooler who came from Pasir Village, Demak had low learning achievement. It was an observational study with a cross-sectional approach; the respondents were Elementary Schooler grades 4, 5, and 6 (107 people) and the mothers of the students (107 people). Thus, the total respondents were 214 people. The IQ assessment instrument used the SPM and CPM instruments. The level of pesticide poisoning from the mother was to measure blood Cholin Esterase levels using a tintometer, the data were then statistically analyzed using Chi Square and Odd Ratio for risk factors. There were significant differences on the level of intelligence of children including the planting system p=0.002; room area p=0.047; ventilation area p=0.041; type of pesticide p=0.001; spraying before harvest p=0.007; spraying after harvest p=0.008; storage place for crop yields p=0.039, while the variables that did not show significant difference were the playing environment p=0.848; gestational age p=0.190; contact to pesticides p=0.105 and age p=0.418. Pesticide contamination in pregnant women in the 1st trimester which the time to process formation and development of the brain in the Temporal lobe and Frontal lobe will experience impaired learning and memory (IQ). Keywords : Elementary schooler; Pesticide exposure; Level of intelligence.

Abstract

Physical fatigue in sports activities, caused by several factors including intensity, frequency, and duration of training that causes a lack of energy and the accumulation of lactic acid from metabolic waste resulting in muscle fatigue. This study aimed is to analyze sports massage and stretching on the recovery of muscle fatigue and lactic acid levels in athletes. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive study using the Literature Review Comparative Study method. This research was sourced from 13 articles related to the analysis of sports massage and stretching on muscle fatigue and lactic acid levels in athletes obtained in the journal portal namely Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital), Science Direct, Scopus, ClinicalKey, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar. The results of this study indicate that sports massage provides the effect of recovering muscle fatigue (after intervention for up to 7 days thereafter) and lactic acid levels (effective in men) while stretching has no significant effect. The difference between the two recovery methods lies in its function: sports massage helps to improve blood circulation while stretching focuses on increasing muscle elasticity and range of motion. Researchers suggest athletes apply sports massage regularly to reduce the risk of muscle fatigue and even muscle injury.

Abstract

The decrease in the hormone estrogen during menopause causes the quality of sleep to decrease. Sleep quality affects physical and psychological health which can reduce the quality of life of menopause. This study aims to prove that acupressure therapy can improve sleep quality and estrogen hormone levels in postmenopausal women. The design of this study is a Quasi experiment, which is by using existing groups. The number of samples was 40 respondents, selected using the Consecutive Sampling technique. The intervention group was given acupressure therapy on HT 7, PC 6, and GV 20 points 6 times for 2 weeks. Sleep quality was measured by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire and estrogen levels were measured by the ELISA method. Data analysis using Paired Sample Test and independent T-Test. Data analysis showed a change in the mean score of sleep quality and estrogen levels in the intervention group after being given acupressure therapy intervention (p = 0.000) (effect size = 0.90). The conclusion of this study is acupressure therapy at points HT 7, PC 6, and GV 20 can improve sleep quality and estrogen hormone in menopausal women. This study implies that acupressure therapy interventions can be applied as part of obstetric care in menopausal women.

Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease, but prevention is needed because it risks causing other body organs to be damaged organs, either directly or indirectly. The combination of “muasda” causes relaxation, giving derivatives in blood pressure, and alpha-amylase levels, and increasing spiritual well-being. This study aims to determine the effect of the muasda combination on blood pressure, alpha-amylase levels, and spiritual well-being in hypertensive clients. This research is a quasi-experiment using pre-test and post-test with a control group design. The number of samples in this study was 62 respondents divided into two groups, namely the intervention and control groups. In taking the sample, the researcher used simple random sampling. The intervention in this study was a muasda combination, given for seven consecutive days with a time of administration of 45 minutes. In the intervention group, respondents will receive a muasda combination and amlodipine. The control group received amlodipine from the public health center. In the intervention group, the mean decrease in systolic blood pressure was 35 mmHg or 11.7% (p = 0.000). The mean decrease in diastolic blood pressure was 24 mmHg or 8% (p = 0.000). The average decrease in alpha-amylase levels was 26.58 or 19% (p = 0.000). The average increase in spiritual well-being scores was 36.94 or 32% (p = 0.000). The muasda combination reduces blood pressure and alpha-amylase levels and increases spiritual well-being in hypertensive clients.

Abstract

Diaper rash occurs in approximately 25% of all babies born worldwide, with 6,840,507,000 experiencing diaper rash due to the use of diapers. The main causes of diaper rash are the growth of fungi and bacteria. Diaper rash can be treated using non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is the use of aloe vera gel. The purpose of this study is to prove the effectiveness of aloe vera gel in healing diaper rash in babies aged 0-12 months. This research was conducted in Kediri City from January to March. The sample in this study consisted of 36 baby respondents aged 0-12 months using random sampling. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The intervention group was given aloe vera hydrogel, while the control group was given zinc oxide ointment, then measured using the diaper dermatitis grading scale score. This study used the repeated measures ANOVA test. The results showed an average difference of 0.750 in the intervention group and 0.584 in the control group. It was shown that the effectiveness of healing diaper rash in the intervention group was 51.02%, and in the control group, it was 41.13%. Data analysis with a P-value < 0.05 indicated a difference in healing between the administration of zinc oxide and aloe vera in reducing diaper rash scores. The administration of aloe vera hydrogel is significantly effective in healing diaper rash in babies aged 0-12 months. Future research could use a narrower age range of babies.
