Abstract

Pekanbaru is one of the city accommodate many students from various areas. Along with thedevelopment of the times, human desire to be able to meet the needs of his education isincreasing, one a student of these symptoms generally realized with the left the origin andmoved into new areas, a student who did this often referred to migrants student. For a student ofthe migrants from the county Karimun this prefer to stay in hostels Karimun Dang Melini,Pekanbaru because in addition to the security themselves also feel familiar in his new and stillfeel being in a group of their own. In general that humans born to have and the group with otherhuman beings, it means that the survival of human took place with the atmosphere of supporteach other in together. Where each individual have dependency against the environment andother human beings. The addiction can be realized in social interaction that is the key of allsocial life, because without interaction won’t be there may be life together, so cause socialgroups in human life. According to the Josep S. Raucek and Roland L. Warren (1984), assertingthat the social groups is a group that includes two or more human, which among them there aresome of the interaction that can be understood by members or other people in its entirety. Thisstudy aims to know the factors that foregrounded the establishment of the social groups andactivities with conducted a student of the migrants in hostels Karimun Dang Melini, Pekanbaru,with the first figure out the relationship between individuals through the closeness sociometryand technique sociogram form of free. The theory used is the theory closeness, the theory reasonpractical, and the theory balance. Mothods used in writing this is qualitative descriptive, wherethe data that appears is the words that usually arranged in the form of the text that expanded.The techniques analysis of the data more using cross check information.Keywords: social groups, student migrant

Abstract

Instagram as one of the social media, makes easy for everyone to have social interactions. In interacting, everyone certainly displays the image to others. As well as using Instagram, aside from being a medium for communicating or as an entertainment medium, Instagram can also be a medium for constructing a self-immage from the users. Self Immage that displayed on Instagram, of course prepared with careful planning. For the sake of making a good immage, Instagram users are willing to pay quite a lot for the sake of being seen on their Instagram. The immage thats constructed also has various meanings. However, there are differences between the appereance of Instagram and the reality of life from the Instagram users. So thats raises a dramaturgy phenomenon. This research aims to find out and analyze the process of constructing self-immage on the subject and knowing the meaning of self-immage that owned by subject. This research uses dramaturgy theory, self-immage and consumptive society and also self-actualization. The research subject is Instagram users in the city of Pekanbaru who were consistent in using a particular hashtag in caption when uploading photos or videos and their Instagram not a private account. This research uses the technique of determining subjects with certain criteria (purposive). This type of research is qualitative, with data collection techniques obtained by observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The result of this research show that there is a process in constructing self-immage on Instagram, and then all subjects have the same pattern, namely perfecting the back stage so the immage looks good on the front stage (their Instagram). The meaning of the immage that is built is as self existence, self actualization and economic meaning.  Keywords: Instagram, self-immage and dramaturgy.

Abstract

Bakar Tongkang tradition in Rokan Hilir Regency is a part of custom or tradition inherited from generation to generation from Chinese custom. It is a form of gratitude to Kie Ong Ya (God of the sea) by burning a barge (tongkang) after praying.  This research uses ethnography of communication by collecting descriptive data on how social meanings are used and communication behavior has been done by the society of Bagansiapi-api in Bakar Tongkang tradition.  This research discusses communicative situation, events and communicative acts related to Bakar Tongkang ritual. Informants are ethnic Chinese community leaders in Bagansiapi-api and chief of Tourism Department of Rolan Hilir Regency. Data are collected through interviews and observation. The result shows the communicative situation of Bakar Tongkang tradition consists of the location of the implementation of this tradition, tongkang (barge) and participants who carry out the tradition. This tradition is held in the Yin Hock King Temple. Communicative events of Bakar Tongkang tradition include value, message and purpose of holding the tradition. The value of this tradition is cultural value although it relates to Konghucu ritual. The message of this tradition is the expression of gratitude and remembrance of the service of Ki Ong Ya who has saved their ancestors in 1825 and as a part of celebrating the birthday of the God.

Abstract

Among the many preserved mangrove areas in Riau Province is the one located in the Meranti Islands Regency. However, the regency is prone to environmental pollution and destruction, so control efforts, namely prevention, management, and recovery, are needed to mitigate it. This study aims to explain women's involvement in the mangrove community's activities as well as their social position within said community. Their involvement will be able to explain their social position, whether they have the ability to make decisions on public activities or only act as objects of a patriarchal development process. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The main informants in this study were women who were directly involved in the mangrove community activities, while the villagers who were not directly involved acted as supporting informants. The village women who were involved in the mangrove forest rehabilitation are all married, aged 29 to 50 years old, and have completed elementary school. Each woman has specialized activities, such as seeding, planting, and making dodol, syrup, and chips. Their role in the mangrove community has a great potential to control the balance between ecological and socio-economic benefits of mangrove forests. However, their activities are not independent. Their involvement is passive as it remains under the management of a coastal conservation leader, and it only serves to help their husbands because the rehabilitation of coastal areas will help maintain the habitat of fish and marine animals, which are their husbands' source of income.

Abstract

This research was conducted in the operational area of PT. Duta Palma Nusantara Sei Kuko' to be precise in Benai Regency. The  purpose of this study was to find out how the conflict occurred and the source of social conflict between PT Duta Palma Nusantara and the indigenous people of Kenegerian Siberakun, Benai District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. As a subject in this study amounted to 15 people. The technique of determining the informants is by using purposive sampling technique. namely taking the subject by setting criteria or special characteristics or certain characteristics that are in accordance with the research objectives so that they can answer research problems. In collecting data, researchers used observation, interviews and documentation. The forms of conflict that occurred between PT Duta Palma Nusantara and the indigenous people of Kenegerian Siberakun, Benai Regency, such as the burning of an Excavator unit by an emotional community, open demonstrations to the Regent's Office, DPRD Kuantan DPRD Singingi Regency and Riau Province and filing cases . to the Court/Supreme Court, While the background of the social conflict is the issue of cooperation with the Hak Guna Usaha (HGU) in the utilization, management of land on an area of 11,260 Ha to the for 25 years starting from 1997 ending in 2018 but being extended unilaterally by PT. Duta Palma Nusantara until 2043 unilaterally without notifying the land owner, namely the indigenous people of Kenegerian Siberakun.  Keywords:  Social Conflict, Land, Indigenous Peoples of the Siberakun Country

Abstract

This research is entitled “Formal Education of Bonai Tribe Children: An Analysis of Rational Action”. Researchers are very interested in bringing up this theme because they want to know how people view formal education. The analysis in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis. Which is related to the rationality of the Bonai Tribe in formal education. The formulation of the problem in this study are (1) What is the meaning of formal education for the Bonai Tribe?.(2) How is the rationality of the Bonai Tribe in taking formal education?.Data collection techniques in this research is by interview. The community informants who became research informants were determined by random sampling. The results of this study show the enthusiasm of the children of the Bonai Tribe in taking formal education, the support given by the parents of the Bonai Tribe children is also very large to support the formal education of the children of the Bonai Tribe.Keywords: Educational rationality, Meaning of Education, Bonai Tribe

Abstract

Mangrove dan kehidupan Suku Akit memiliki relasi yang erat sebagai sumber penghidupan. Namun, sejak dua dekade terakhir ketersediaan mangrove berkurang akibat aktivitas manusia dan faktor alam sehingga menyebabkan terjadinya abrasi. Tulisan ini menjelaskan praktik pelestarian dan orientasi nilai Suku Akit pada hutan mangrove. Kami menggunakan kualitatif melakukan wawancara dan observasi serta menganalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa sampai saat ini Suku Akit masih memanfaatkan mangrove untuk kehidupan mereka, misalnya dalam bentuk kayu bakar, cerocok atau kayu fondasi rumah, pancang, maupun arang. Tetapi, pemanfaatan mangrove ini tidak dilakukan dalam jumlah yang besar, hal ini disebabkan karena adanya himbauan untuk mengurangi penebangan mangrove sebagai upaya mencegah abrasi. Beberapa orang mengikuti anjuran tersebut bahkan mereka sudah mulai bergerak mencari sumber penghidupan lain selain dari mangrove. Sebagian yang lain masih bekerja pada industri mangrove baik sebagai pelaku utama maupun pekerja. Temuan ini memberikan penekanan bahwa alternatif sumber penghidupan berkelanjutan selain bergantung pada mangrove sangat diperukan untuk kehidupan Suku Akit. Orientasi nilai mereka terhadap mangrove memiliki keterkaitan yang erat pada kondisi kehidupan mereka, sehingga diperlukan pemahaman serta alternatif pekerjaan lain agar tidak lagi memanfaatkan mangrove meskipun dalam jumlah yang kecil.

Abstract

Tag a friend in the comments column on the Instagram platform is one mechanism to start interacting between users on social media. Is it possible to just "tag" friends who have there been social interactions intended by sociologists, psychologists,s and communication experts? This article is to explore how social media carries out the process of social interaction, and whether simply tagging a friend on Instagram can be considered a social interaction. The results of the study show that the use of social media is rarely considered a social interaction, after surfing on social media for approximately the first 7-10 minutes, 116 samples of Instagram users showed that social media behavior rarely chatted and commented, on average they only status updating, stalking and also looking for the information. The use of social media and social interaction sometimes occur together, but only 3% of social interactions occur through the Instagram platform. It is said that social interaction through this platform usually focused on having conversations, and exchanging with relatively closer relational relationships. Secondary data analysis and surveys of Instagram users are used in this article to analyze the process of social interaction on the Instagram platform supported by literature studies from several sociologists, psychologists, and also communication experts who argue about social interaction. It can be said, each media is social in a unique way including the Instagram platform, and needs further discussion in conceptualizing the boundaries of social interaction in social media.

Abstract

The LibuRUN group is a running community that is highly famous in Riau, notably in the city of Pekanbaru. The objective of founding the LibuRUN running community is to push for the residents of Pekanbaru city to live a healthy life. This research intends to examine the consumptive and hedonic behavior of members of the LibuRUN running community. The research approach utilized in this study is descriptive qualitative, the source of the data comprises of primary and secondary data. The findings indicated that consumer behavior among LibuRUN members was impacted by their surroundings and their personal wishes, and LibuRUN hedonic lifestyle was conduct that was regarded normal and hedonic behavior was also typical. Behavior arises because of behaviors that exist among the community and people themselves.

Abstract

Konflik-konflik yang ada didunia memiliki sumber-sumber yang menjadi pemicu lahirnya sebuah konflik maupun beberapa konflik. Konflik-konflik yang telah terjadi tersebut memiliki bentuk-bentuknya sendiri. Penelitian ini berjudul Konflik Lahan Antara Masyarakat Desa Dengan Perusahaan (Studi Kasus Pada Masyarakat Desa Koto Aman Dengan PT Sekar Bumi Alam Lestari Di Desa Koto Aman Kecamatan Tapung Hilir Kabupaten Kampar). Hasil dari penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa dengan adanya perjanjian yang tidak ditepati salah satu pihak berkonflik yang menjadi sumber munculnya konflik yang berkepanjangan, perlawanan dan penolakan yang terjadisebagai bentuk konfik adalah adanya demonstrasi keberbagai tempat oleh masyarakat hingga pengngsian dan pemblokiran jalan,serta mediasi merupakan salah satu upaya penyelesaian atau resolusi konflik yang juga tidak kunjung menjadikan konflik lahan antara masyarakat Desa Koto Amandengan PT SBAL selesai.
