Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between Parental Screen Guilt (PSG) and Subjective Well-Being (SWB) among mothers with children under 18 years old. PSG refers to the guilt parents feel when they perceive their children’s screen use as inconsistent with ideal parenting standards. SWB was assessed through two affective components: Positive Affect (PA) and Negative Affect (NA). This research employed a quantitative correlational design, involving 171 mothers recruited through purposive sampling. The instruments used were the 5-item PSG scale adapted from Wolfers et al. (2024) and the I-PANAS-SF to measure PA and NA. The findings show that PSG is positively associated with both PA and NA, indicating that higher levels of guilt are linked to a greater tendency to experience both positive and negative affect in daily life. These results highlight that guilt in digital parenting elicits multifaceted emotional responses, where PSG operates as a dual-function psychological mechanism that may generate emotional discomfort while simultaneously promoting awareness and self-correction. Furthermore, guilt is shaped not only by the child’s screen time duration but also by the discrepancy between ideal digital parenting standards and everyday screen-use practices. Thus, PSG can be understood as a form of dissonance between parental values and the realities of real-life parenting. Overall, this study enriches the theoretical understanding of moral emotions in digital parenting and offers practical implications for developing educational programs and interventions to help parents manage guilt in healthier, more constructive ways.

Abstract

Low self-esteem in elementary school students may affect confidence, classroom participation, and social interaction during the learning process. This community service program aimed to improve the self-esteem of fourth-grade students at SDN Maleber through psychoeducation and interactive activities. The program was conducted over three days involving 22 students. The implementation stages included initial observation, pre-test administration, psychoeducation sessions, group games, positive affirmation activities, self-reflection, interactive discussions, and post-test evaluation using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). The instrument demonstrated good reliability with a Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.784. Descriptive analysis showed an increase in the average self-esteem score from 25.32 before the intervention to 28.55 after the intervention. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed a significant increase in students’ self-esteem after participating in the program (p = 0.004). In addition, students appeared more confident, active, and willing to express their opinions during classroom activities. These findings indicate that psychoeducation and participatory activities can positively support the development of self-esteem among elementary school students.

Abstract

Low numeracy skills among elementary school students pose a significant challenge for academic readiness, particularly in facing the Academic Competency Test (TKA) scheduled for 2026. This community service program aimed to improve literacy and numeracy skills of sixth-grade students at SDN Ciherang 02, Pacet District, Cianjur Regency through a game-based learning approach. Prior to implementation, the mean Mathematics score was 43.52 and Indonesian language score was 67.00. The program was implemented over 8 days through seven interactive activities, involving 27 sixth-grade students as participants. Academic competency was measured using TKA-format test items consisting of 30 Indonesian language and 20 Mathematics multiple-choice items, administered as pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using Paired Samples t-test after normality was confirmed via Shapiro-Wilk test. Results showed that Mathematics scores improved significantly from 43.52 to 56.11 (t = -4.301, p < 0.001, d = -0.828), while Indonesian language scores showed a non-significant improvement from 67.00 to 68.70 (t = -0.870, p = 0.392, d = -0.167). Interview findings revealed that students found TKA-format reading items challenging due to limited daily reading habits. This program is recommended as a replicable school-based game-based learning model for TKA preparation.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the role of self-control as a moderating variable in the relationship between social media use and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) among Generation Z individuals who purchase blind boxes in the Greater Jakarta Area (Jabodetabek). The background of this research is rooted in the rising consumption trend of blind boxes, which is influenced by digital media and potentially reinforces the tendency toward FOMO. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational predictive design. The research participants consisted of 117 Generation Z individuals residing in Jabodetabek who used social media for at least one hour per day and had purchased blind boxes within the last year. Data were collected using the Social Media Use Integration Scale (SMUIS) by Jenkins-Guarnieri et al. (2013) (α=0.840), the FOMO Scale by Zhang et al. (2020) (α=0.977), and the Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS) by Ferrari et al. (2009) (α=0.967). The data were analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results indicate that self-control moderates the relationship between social media use and FOMO (p=0.017; ∆R²=0.010), where individuals with low self-control tend to experience higher FOMO. These findings affirm the importance of self-control in helping Generation Z adaptively manage digital social pressures in the social media era.

Abstract

Creativity is a crucial skill for adapting to the demands of the modern world, and early experiences may play a vital role in its development. This study investigated the relationship between childhood fantasy play and creativity in early adulthood, as well as the moderating role of perceived parenting styles. A non-experimental quantitative design was employed using purposive sampling. Participants were 387 individuals aged 18 to 25 who had lived with their parents between the ages of 2 and 7. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using Jeffrey’s Amazing Statistics Program (JASP). Results revealed a significant positive correlation between childhood fantasy play and adult creativity (r = 0.413, p < 0.001). However, perceived parenting styles, both paternal and maternal, did not significantly moderate this relationship. These findings indicate that engaging in imaginative play during childhood contributes meaningfully to creativity in adulthood, and this influence remains consistent regardless of how parenting is later recalled. The study adds to the understanding of how early life experiences shape long-term personal development.
