Abstract

Background: Exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life is an essential effort to improve infant health status and reduce morbidity and mortality rates. However, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding remains suboptimal, one of which is influenced by mothers’ attitudes toward breastfeeding practices. One of the promotive strategies that can be implemented to develop positive maternal attitudes is breastfeeding home visits conducted by integrated health post cadres). Preliminary data in Pekon Sukamaju indicated that some mothers had not fully practiced exclusive breastfeeding. Purpose: to determine the effect of breastfeeding home visits by integrated health post cadres) on mothers’ attitudes toward exclusive breastfeeding. Method: This study employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design. The population consisted of all mothers with infants aged 0–28 days in Pekon Sukamaju, totaling 25 individuals, with 20 respondents selected using accidental sampling according to inclusion criteria. Data were collected using an attitude questionnaire with a Likert scale administered before and after the home visit intervention. Data analysis was conducted using univariate analysis to determine the mean, standard deviation, minimum, and maximum values, and bivariate analysis using the Paired T-Test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: The results showed that the mean score of mothers’ attitudes before the home visit was 33.05 (SD = 6.886), which increased to 48.25 (SD = 6.146) after the intervention. The mean difference of 15.20 indicated an improvement toward a more positive attitude. Conclusion: The Paired T-Test result obtained a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant effect of breastfeeding home visits by integrated health post cadres on mothers’ attitudes toward exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Back pain is a common complaint experienced by third-trimester pregnant women due to physiological changes such as weight gain, postural changes, and ligament relaxation. This condition can interfere with comfort and daily activities, therefore requiring safe and effective management, one of which is a non-pharmacological therapy in the form of prenatal yoga. This study aimed to determine the effect of prenatal yoga on reducing back pain among third-trimester pregnant women in the working area of Kedondong Public Health Center, Pesawaran Regency, in 2025.This study employed a quantitative method with a One Group Pre-Test Post-Test design. The sample consisted of 26 third-trimester pregnant women selected through random sampling. Back pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the prenatal yoga intervention. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test because the normality test results indicated that the data were not normally distributed (p < 0.05). The results showed that the mean back pain score before the intervention was 6.04 (moderate–severe category) and decreased to 3.04 (mild–moderate category) after the intervention. All respondents (100%) experienced a reduction in back pain, with 26 negative ranks and no positive ranks or ties. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect of prenatal yoga on reducing back pain in third-trimester pregnant women. In conclusion, prenatal yoga is effective in reducing back pain among third-trimester pregnant women and can be recommended as a safe and beneficial non-pharmacological intervention in antenatal care services to improve maternal comfort.

Abstract

Untreated labor pain can increase catecholamine secretion, leading to vasoconstriction, decreased uterine contractions, and a higher risk of complications. Various non-pharmacological methods have been used to reduce pain, one of which is aromatherapy. Rose aromatherapy provides a relaxing effect and reduces pain perception. This study aimed to determine the effect of rose aromatherapy on the intensity of labor pain during the active phase of the first stage of labor. A quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control group design was used. The study involved 30 laboring women divided into two groups, with 15 respondents in each group. The intervention group received rose aromatherapy by diffusing 3–5 drops of essential oil mixed with 100 ml of water for 15 minutes, while the control group received standard normal labor care. Pain intensity was measured using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) and analyzed using the Mann–Whitney test. The results showed that the average pain intensity in the control group was 7.40 (60%), while in the intervention group it was 5.33 (46.7%), indicating a 13.3% reduction in pain level with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. This indicates a significant effect of rose aromatherapy on the intensity of labor pain during the active phase of the first stage of labor at the midwifery private practice (PMB) in the working area of Pardasuka Community Health Center in 2025. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that rose aromatherapy is effective in reducing labor pain intensity during the active phase of the first stage of labor. Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women remains a major nutritional concern and is widely recognized as a determinant of adverse perinatal outcomes, including Low Birth Weight (LBW). In the work area of Air Naningan Public Health Center, both CED and LBW remain prevalent, prompting the need for further evaluation of their association. This retrospective study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal CED and LBW and to explore the observed mismatch in which many CED mothers still delivered normal-weight infants. This study used a retrospective analytic design involving 265 pregnant women who delivered in 2024. Data were extracted from electronic maternal cohort records (e-Kohort). Bivariate analysis using Chi-Square demonstrated a significant association between CED and LBW (χ² = 17.768; p < 0.001). The odds ratio (OR = 5.586; 95% CI: 2.337–13.354) indicated that pregnant women with CED had a 5.6-fold higher risk of delivering LBW infants. The prevalence of CED was 34.0%, while LBW occurred in 10.2% of births. Interestingly, 78.9% of CED mothers still delivered normal-weight infants, highlighting the multifactorial nature of LBW.These findings confirm CED as a strong predictor of LBW while emphasizing the importance of comprehensive maternal health interventions
