Abstract

Differences in catch as well as the costs incurred in one fishing trip of troll fishermen has been known. Therefore, effective and efficient fishing cost are required to maximize fishermen revenue and thus income. The purpose of this study is to examine the efficacy and efficiency of production costs carried out by trolling fishermen in Kondowa Village, Pasarwajo District, Buton Regency. Primary data collected included fuel costs, consumption, total catch per trip and sales price, whereas secondary data consisted of population, fishermen education level and other data related to this study. The data obtained were analyzed using the formula of total cost, revenue, production efficacy and production cost efficiency. The results of the analysis showed that the highest production was 82 kg with an efficacy level of 0.0000257, and the lowest efficacy was 0.0002902 with a production of 73 kg. The highest efficiency level of fishermen in one fishing trip was Rp.38. 955 / kg and the lowest was Rp3,446 / kg. The results of this study indicated that the production efficiency of trolling fishermenin Kondowa Villagewas very minimum but has not been effective that may due to the fishing rod used only one hook in each reel. Abstract

Abstract

The management of fisheries access areas is one form of ecosystem-based fisheries management, which integrates marine protected area activities with controlled fishing activities carried out by local fishermen. The objective of sustainable fishing activities in the Kolono Bay Fisheries Access Area is to enhance the capacities of both the local fishermen and the PAAP management. This initiative involves the participation of 15 managing fishermen from five villages: All located in the Kolono Bay area. The project commences with the formation of groups, followed by discussion forums group, guided by a facilitator from RARE Indonesia Sultra. The DFG sessions were held twice, each with distinct themes: (1) issues and challenges encountered by fishermen during fishing activities in Kolono Bay, and (2) concerns related to climate change. Participants exhibited great enthusiasm throughout the engagement, as evidenced by the active sharing of the challenges they have faced concerning their fishing activities in Teluk Kolono during the FGD sessions. The outreach material was presented in simple language to ensure participants' comprehension. In general, it can be concluded that the information provided during this engagement has the potential to enhance the capacities of fishermen engaged in PAAP management in Teluk Kolono to support sustainable fishing.

Abstract

Sawapudo Village fishermen will benefit from this community service project because it will increase their awareness of fishing techniques that are less harmful to the environment. There is a lack of awareness among fishermen regarding the consequences of utilizing fishing gear that is harmful to the marine ecosystem, which is why this training is so crucial. Some of the methods that are utilized include lectures, hands-on field practice, and interactive and interactive conversations. Twenty fishermen participated in this exercise, which was carried out in conjunction with the administration of the community. The findings of the evaluation indicate that the participants have a better comprehension of the significance of marine conservation, the selection of fishing gear that is responsible for the environment, and the support of government rules that are associated with the management of sustainable fisheries populations. Through the use of participative and educational methods, this exercise demonstrates that the mentality of fishermen can be changed to become more responsible and sustainable in their fishing practices. Because of this, it is strongly suggested that training of this kind be maintained and carried out in other coastal locations that have features that are equivalent to those of the current area.
