Abstract

West Aceh Regency is one of the regions in Indonesia with quite extensive peatlands, but the diversity of food crop commodities is still very low. To enhance food diversification programs of rice, sorghum production is important. The purpose of this research was to test several varieties of sorghum in the peatlands of West Aceh Regency. This research was carried out from July to November 2023. Several new varieties of sorghum released by the Indonesian Cereals Research Institute (ICERI) were evaluated in the peatland of West Aceh. The research method used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with two factors and three replications. The first factor was different varieties of sorghum, and the second factor was various doses of fertilizers. The varieties used were Soper 7 Agritan, Bioguma 1, and Suri 3. The doses used Control (no treatment), Dose I (75 kg Urea ha-1 + 50 kg SP-36 ha-1 + 50 kg KCl ha-1), Dose II (150 kg Urea ha-1 + 100 kg SP-36 ha-1 + 100 kg KCl ha-1), and Dose III (225 kg Urea ha-1 + 150 kg SP-36 ha-1 + 150 kg KCl ha-1). The results showed that the Bioguma 1 variety adapted better than the other varieties, where the plant height was 187.97 cm, the number of leaves was 15.08, the panicle diameter was 35.92 mm, and the panicle weight was 79.52 g. Meanwhile, fertilizer dose II is better on the character of the number of leaves and panicle length. The interaction effect between the two factors only showed a significant influence on panicle length. Therefore, the Bioguma 1 sorghum variety can be a recommended variety for planting in the shallow peatlands of West Aceh. Keywords: Acidic soil; alternative food; food diversification

Abstract

Limbah kopi bersifat racun terhadap lingkungan karena mengandung kafein, tanin, dan polifenol. Serta proses degradasinya pun membutuhkan oksigen dalam jumlah yang besar. Upaya pengembangan untuk mengatasi masalah ini yaitu dengan cara mengolah limbah kulit kopi menjadi pupuk organik. Pengabdian pemanfaatan limbah kopi di Desa Arul Item bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman petani kopi dan produktivitas pertanian organik dengan menggunakan tanaman kopi sebagai bahan baku untuk membuat pupuk organik. Pengabdian ini menggunakan metode yang komprehensif, mulai dari sosialisasi, observasi lapangan, dan survei lapangan bersama masyarakat serta analisis laboratorium untuk memahami dampak tanaman kopi pada kualitas dan kesuburan tanah. Pengabdian ini berhasil meningkatkan pehamanan petani tentang pembuatan pupuk organik serta menemukan bahwa tanaman kopi dari produksi lokal dapat diubah menjadi pupuk tanah yang kaya nutrisi, meningkatkan kualitas tanah dalam berbagai aspek seperti pertumbuhan tanaman, kesehatan tanah, dan kualitas pangan. Identifikasi varietas kopi di Desa Arul Item juga penting untuk menilai efektivitas tanaman kopi sebagai bahan baku. Pengabdian ini Juga berhasil mengidentifikasi sederhana, Arabika yang memiliki keasaman yang kuat dan aroma kompleks, serta Robusta yang memiliki rasa yang kuat dan pahit. Kegiatan ini membantu mengoptimalkan penggunaan pupuk organik, dan meningkatkan kreativitas petani dalam kegiatan pertanian, serta memahami manfaat dan konsekuensi penggunaan tanaman kopi sebagai bahan baku dapat mengarah pada praktik pertanian yang lebih efektif dan berkelanjutan di masa depan.

Abstract

This assistance is expected to provide additional information about peat soil management to the people of Keub Village, Arongan Lambalek District, West Aceh Regency, Aceh Province. Farmers can independently manage any problems that arise on peat soils, so they are able to take the right steps in current and future management efforts so that the land can produce optimally. Its management includes physical (mechanical), chemical, and biological aspects. Utilization of peat based on improving the community's economy and preserving the ecology of peat requires careful and measured preparation, including; the construction of integrated canal blocks by carrying out control and evaluation through strengthening institutional capacity including communities around peat (practitioners) and academics in a holistic manner in a definitive manner, with the hope that the use of peatlands will not have a negative impact on the current and future environment.

Abstract

The cultivated method for some commodity of plant is one of the keys for optimum production. Shallot is one of main commodity of horticulture that has not been widely cultivated in Aceh Province especially in Gampong Ladang village West Aceh. The introduction of TSS (True Shallot Seed) is one of main idea to promote botany seed of shallot as planting material on shallot cultivation with more benefit compared of shallot bulb. The activities of public service were held in Gampong Ladang West Aceh. The methode of this activity include of: socialization, technical guidance of shallot cultivation, technic of land preparation, technic of seed germination, plantation in field, and evaluated with questioner method. The results obtained by the community are able to cultivated of shallot using TSS. The introduction and implementation of TSS on shallot cultivated is expected as information and made farmers interested to planted shallot in large area and make Gampong Ladang as centra of shallot production especially in West Aceh.

Abstract

The problem of unbalanced use of inorganic fertilizers and in the long term it can cause damage to the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil as well as changes in the balance of soil nutrients, so that it produces unproductive marginal land for sustainable crop cultivation. Biosaka can be an effective and efficient innovation to reduce dependence on the use of inorganic fertilizers and minimize farming production costs. This community service was carried out in Seumantok Village, West Aceh. Methods for implementing community service include socialization, technical guidance in making biosaka and evaluation with questionnaires. The results obtained by the community are able to understand the meaning of biosaka and its benefits, how to make biosaka, and how to apply biosaka to cultivated plants. This biosaka eliminator is expected to be able to have a good effect on agricultural land, able to reduce the use of inorganic materials and maximize crop production potential in Seumantok Village, West Aceh.

Abstract

Research on the analysis of the suitability of the durian agrotourism area will have a positive impact on the long-term plans of the local government and the community who are planning the Sarah Raya village area as the durian center of Aceh Jaya. This research was carried out in Sarah Raya Village, Pasie Raya District, Aceh Jaya Regency. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive, aimed at describing findings and measurement data in the field systematically, factually and comprehensively. This research examines the feasibility and suitability of land in Sarah Raya Village for cultivating durian plants as well as the potential and support for developing durian agrotourism areas in Sarah Raya Village. Indicators and field observation results show an annual average temperature of 26.1 °C in 2021-2022, relative humidity of 80% in 2022, Andosol soil type, altitude of 200-600 m above sea level, and rainfall of 3175.9 mm in 2021-2022, while Ph is in a neutral position of 5-7, the results of these measurements show that Sarah Raya Village is very suitable as a durian agro-tourism area, apart from that the potential and community support for the development of agro-tourism in Sarah Raya Village is very positive. This can be seen from the average response of 71% of respondents who gave a positive response to the development of agro-tourism areas.

Abstract

Background: This innovation aims to enhance the skills members and support nutritional improvement efforts to prevent stunting in the area. The program also includes training in packaging and product branding to increase the competitiveness and market in local markets. Contribution: Sorghum is being promoted as an alternative food source due to its nutritional content, which can help regulate blood sugar levels and prevent stunting in the community. Method: The methods used included community education, mentoring, and community development. The stages of the activity consisted of socialization, training on sorghum-based food products, product packaging and branding, data collection, and evaluations. Results: The results of the sorghum flour cookie processing showed that 80% of respondents stated the taste was delicious, and 72% said the eggroll product was delicious. Conclusion: This activity has a positive impact on product diversification for the partners and is expected to be sustainable for community empowerment. Sustainability is supported through mentoring, the development of SOPs, partnerships and community-based business units, as well as the role of local policies in strengthening agriculture.

Abstract

Kebutuhan bawang merah terus meningkat setiap tahunnya akan tetapi produksi bawang merah terhambat akibat kondisi iklim dan serangan penyakit. Kelangkaan pupuk dan tingginya harga pupuk  menjadi penyebab keterbatasan produksi bawang merah. FABA (Fly Ash and Bottom Ash) menjadi solusi untuk memperbaiki sifat fisik dan kimia tanah, sehingga harapannya mampu meningkatkan produksi bawang merah. Metode yang digunakan  Participatory Action Research (PAR) dengan empat tahapan, sosialisasi budidaya bawang merah dan pemanfaatan FABA, praktik lapang, pemeliharaan budidaya dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan ini dievaluasi dengan 3 kriteria tolak ukur pencapaian yaitu evaluasi partisipatif, formatif dan sumatif. Hasil evaluasi partisipatif menunjukkan bahwa setelah pendampingan 100% masyarakat mampu memahami teknik budidaya bawang merah, dan 96% mampu menjelaskan pemanfaatan FABA dan pengaplikasiannya untuk bawang merah. Hasil evaluasi formatif menunjukkan rangkaian kegiatan yang telah terlaksana di lapangan. Dimulai dari pengolahan lahan, penaman hingga pengendalian hama dan penyakit. Evaluasi Sumatif menunjukkan 92% masyarakat meningkat sangat banyak dalam memahi teknik budidaya bawang merah, dan 80 - 90 % kemampuan meningkat dalam mengolah dan mengaplikasikan FABA pada tanaman bawang merah. Secara keseluruhan pengaplikasian FABA pada bawang merah berjalan secara efektif di Desa Gampong Ladang Aceh Barat.

Abstract

Kebutuhan bawang merah terus meningkat setiap tahunnya akan tetapi produksi bawang merah terhambat akibat kondisi iklim dan serangan penyakit. Aceh berpotensi sebagai wilayah pengembangan produksi bawang merah dan selaras dengan tujuan pemerintah Aceh untuk meningkatkan komoditas hortikultura. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan produksi bawang merah dengan pengaplikasian Internet of Things (IoT) agar lingkungan dapat terkontrol baik dari kelembaban, suhu dan pengaturan penyiraman. Metode kegiatan meliputi sosialisasi, praktik budidaya bawang merah, penerapan IoT dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan dan kemampuan petani meningkat dalam budidaya bawang merah, baik secara teori dan praktik di lahan. Hasil evaluasi sebelum kegiatan sosialisasi menunjukkan 90% masyarakat belum memahami mengenai IoT dan pengaplikasiannya, kemudian setelah kegiatan kemampuan masyarakat meningkat dan memahami kinerja IoT, dimana 87% petani dapat memantau kondisi tanaman bawang merah secara lebih efisien dan 90% petani menyatakan bahwa air yang digunakan lebih hemat dan efektif dengan sistem irigasi berbasis IoT. Budidaya bawang merah berbasis IoT diharapkan mendukung pertanian modern yang berkelanjutan serta meningkatkan produktivitas dan pendapatan petani. Pengembangan dan perluasan teknologi ini disarankan untuk menjangkau lebih banyak petani di daerah lain.
