Abstract

The cultivated method for some commodity of plant is one of the keys for optimum production. Shallot is one of main commodity of horticulture that has not been widely cultivated in Aceh Province especially in Gampong Ladang village West Aceh. The introduction of TSS (True Shallot Seed) is one of main idea to promote botany seed of shallot as planting material on shallot cultivation with more benefit compared of shallot bulb. The activities of public service were held in Gampong Ladang West Aceh. The methode of this activity include of: socialization, technical guidance of shallot cultivation, technic of land preparation, technic of seed germination, plantation in field, and evaluated with questioner method. The results obtained by the community are able to cultivated of shallot using TSS. The introduction and implementation of TSS on shallot cultivated is expected as information and made farmers interested to planted shallot in large area and make Gampong Ladang as centra of shallot production especially in West Aceh.

Abstract

The problem of unbalanced use of inorganic fertilizers and in the long term it can cause damage to the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil as well as changes in the balance of soil nutrients, so that it produces unproductive marginal land for sustainable crop cultivation. Biosaka can be an effective and efficient innovation to reduce dependence on the use of inorganic fertilizers and minimize farming production costs. This community service was carried out in Seumantok Village, West Aceh. Methods for implementing community service include socialization, technical guidance in making biosaka and evaluation with questionnaires. The results obtained by the community are able to understand the meaning of biosaka and its benefits, how to make biosaka, and how to apply biosaka to cultivated plants. This biosaka eliminator is expected to be able to have a good effect on agricultural land, able to reduce the use of inorganic materials and maximize crop production potential in Seumantok Village, West Aceh.

Abstract

West Aceh Regency is one of the regions in Indonesia with quite extensive peatlands, but the diversity of food crop commodities is still very low. To enhance food diversification programs of rice, sorghum production is important. The purpose of this research was to test several varieties of sorghum in the peatlands of West Aceh Regency. This research was carried out from July to November 2023. Several new varieties of sorghum released by the Indonesian Cereals Research Institute (ICERI) were evaluated in the peatland of West Aceh. The research method used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with two factors and three replications. The first factor was different varieties of sorghum, and the second factor was various doses of fertilizers. The varieties used were Soper 7 Agritan, Bioguma 1, and Suri 3. The doses used Control (no treatment), Dose I (75 kg Urea ha-1 + 50 kg SP-36 ha-1 + 50 kg KCl ha-1), Dose II (150 kg Urea ha-1 + 100 kg SP-36 ha-1 + 100 kg KCl ha-1), and Dose III (225 kg Urea ha-1 + 150 kg SP-36 ha-1 + 150 kg KCl ha-1). The results showed that the Bioguma 1 variety adapted better than the other varieties, where the plant height was 187.97 cm, the number of leaves was 15.08, the panicle diameter was 35.92 mm, and the panicle weight was 79.52 g. Meanwhile, fertilizer dose II is better on the character of the number of leaves and panicle length. The interaction effect between the two factors only showed a significant influence on panicle length. Therefore, the Bioguma 1 sorghum variety can be a recommended variety for planting in the shallow peatlands of West Aceh. Keywords: Acidic soil; alternative food; food diversification

Abstract

Shallot (Allium cepa var. aggregatum) is a high-value horticultural crop with significant economic importance in the culinary, health, and industrial sectors. The increasing market demand has driven eJorts to develop varieties that are adaptive to diverse environmental conditions. Of the more than 20 shallot varieties cultivated in Indonesia, only a few are capable of adapting to acidic soils. This study aimed to evaluate the adaptive capacity of three shallot varieties (Bima Brebes, Sanren, and Lokananta) in acidic soil conditions. The experiment was conducted on acidic soil using a non-factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 9 replications, resulting in 27 experimental units. The results showed that all three varieties were able to grow on regosol soil with a soil pH value of 4.60 and significant differences were observed among the varieties for most growth parameters. Bima Brebes exhibited the highest performance at the final observation, with a plant height of 28.21 cm, 43.07 leaves, 9.69 tillers, 10.62 bulbs, 31.29 g bulb weight per clump, 40.96 g fresh bulb weight per plant, and 3.62 g dry bulb weight per plant. These findings suggest that Bima Brebes has strong potential as a superior variety for sustainable optimization of acidic soils. Keywords: Adaptation, Bima Brebes, Lokananta, Sanren

Abstract

Suak  Sigadeng  Village  is  administratively  included  in  Johan  Pahlawan  District  and  has  the determination to become a center for duck farming products in West Aceh Regency. Eggs, there are 2 community groups that carry out duck farming, namely the KWT Beu Jroh group of laying duck farms and the Baro Tabina Farmers Group of meat duck farms, in general both groups have understood the productive farming process, but there are several main problems in this dilution, namely dependence on factory feed, waste management, marketing management, processing of duck derivative products, so that strengthening of several of the above problems is needed, through training on making feed based on local ingredients, processing waste into fertilizer, financial management and marketing training. The training implementation method is carried out directly, actively and participatory, followed by practice by partner groups. The results show a positive effect for both groups in terms of training in terms of understanding, with an average score of 80, in addition to being followed by feed production reaching 300 kg / hour, and producing manure reaching 50 kg / 4 months. Overall, the KWT Beu Jroh group. After the treatment, there was a difference in the production of the KWT Beu jroh group from 150 salted eggs to 500 to 700 per day (depending on the availability of salted eggs), thus affecting the final income from Rp. 6,000,000 to Rp. 30,000,000 (minimum). Meanwhile, the comparison of the potential profit of the meat  duck farming business of the Baro Tabina farmer group had a positive effect, including generating a difference in income from Rp. 12,800,000 to Rp. 22,800,000 in one maintenance cycle.
