Abstract

In the adolescent phase, individuals will experience the process of searching for self-identity related to personality formation in adolescents. One of the factors that influence personality formation in adolescents is the application of parenting styles. This study analyzes the relationship between parenting style and personality construction in SMA Argopuro Panti, Jember Regency students. This study used a correlational research method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique was Stratified Random Sampling with a total sample of 151 students. Data collection uses the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) and Big Five Personality questionnaires. The results showed that the majority received authoritarian parenting parents, namely as many as 86 respondents (57%), and extraversion personalities, as many as 89 respondents (58.9%). The results of the bivariate test with Cramer's V showed that the p-value = 0.000 <0.05 with a correlation coefficient of 0.355. This means a relationship exists between parenting style and the personality formation of SMA Argopuro Panti Jember Regency students. Nurses' role is essential to educate parents and adolescents about parenting styles and adolescent personality.

Abstract

This community service aims to increase knowledge about school age development and provide development stimulation to optimize the development of school-age children's industry/work. Solutions that can be provided to partners are 1) conducting an initial assessment as basic data to determine the achievement of school-age children's industry development tasks, 2) increasing children's knowledge about school-age development, and 3) conducting therapeutic group therapy by providing stimulation for school-age children's development (motor, cognitive, language, emotions and personality, moral and spiritual, and psychosocial development). The implementation of activities consists of three stages, namely the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The achievement of the objectives of this community service is seen from the results of the evaluation of school-age children's development. The results of this activity show that after participating in Therapeutic Group Therapy (TKT), most students experienced an optimal and positive increase in their abilities in their development levels. Therefore, we recommend the use of therapeutic group therapy as an effort to stimulate children's development to the maximum, which will ultimately have a positive impact on the development of school-age children's industry or work.

Abstract

Introduction: Anxiety disorders have a high incidence rate in the elderly, with the most significant factor being thinking about the disease they are suffering from. This requires therapeutic communication to build a nurse-patient relationship with the elderly to adapt to psychological disorders, including anxiety, to relieve and make elderly patients feel comfortable, ultimately speeding up their recovery. Goals: Aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of therapeutic communication in reducing anxiety levels in the elderly. Method: A review article was conducted based on research issues and methodology, with article searches using the PICO framework strategy using the Google Scholar, Springer, ResearchGate, and Semantic Scholar databases. Results: The results of the study show that anxiety is a common problem often experienced by the elderly during the aging process. Some factors that trigger anxiety in the elderly include health issues and a lack of social interaction due to death or relocation. The research indicates that therapeutic communication can help reduce anxiety levels in the elderly. Good therapeutic communication by healthcare professionals has a positive impact on reducing patient anxiety. Discussion: In this regard, the researcher highlights the importance of therapeutic communication in reducing anxiety in the elderly. Both verbal and nonverbal therapeutic communication is considered a key element in nursing care. Additionally, the researcher emphasizes the importance of adopting different approaches when applying therapeutic communication techniques to the elderly. Unstable emotional reactions and communication barriers pose specific challenges in interacting with the elderly.

Abstract

Self-harm behaviour is prevalent among adolescents, particularly during early adolescence, a period characterized by significant pressures and demands. This study examines self-compassion as a potential coping mechanism to mitigate self-harm in early adolescents, specifically within the agricultural region of Jember Regency. The research employed a correlational design within a cross-sectional framework comprising 376 junior high school students. The participants were assessed for self-compassion utilizing the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) and for self-harm behaviour through the Deliberate Self-Harm Inventory (DSHI). The findings indicate that 67.6% of participants exhibited moderate levels of self-compassion, while 84.8% reported low instances of self-harm behaviour. A statistically significant relationship was identified (p = 0.001), revealing a low negative correlation (r = -0.200), which suggests that higher levels of self-compassion are associated with reduced self-harm. In conclusion, the results underscore the importance of promoting self-compassion programs within schools and among healthcare professionals as a means to address self-harm in adolescents.

The data of the research were analyzed using spearman correlation and got the result of the respondents with the support of the family was in the category of less equal to 63,3% and sodium intake was in high category equal to 53,3%, result of analysis with correlation coefficient value equal to -0,534 with significance value equal to 0,002 which means the value of p <0.01 and Ha accepted that indicates a relationship between family support for sodium intake of hypertensive patients aged 45-59 years old at Puskesmas Dinoyo. The value of correlation coefficient of -0.534 which means the nature of the relationship is inversely proportional, the better the family support the lower the sodium intake. Abstract

Problems experienced by early adolescents are often triggered by stressors related to physical, cognitive, and emotional changes, which may lead to low self-confidence and self-harming behaviors. These issues can cause psychological distress, thereby increasing the importance of family support. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family social support and self-harm behavior among early adolescents in the agricultural region of Jember Regency. A correlational research design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The study population consisted of early adolescents enrolled in public junior high schools (SMPN) in Jember, totaling 2,191 students. A sample of 376 students was selected using proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Perceived Social Support from Family (PSS-Fa) questionnaire and the Deliberate Self-Harm Inventory (DSHI). Bivariate statistical analysis using Kendall’s tau-C revealed a significant relationship between family social support and self-harm behavior in early adolescents in the agricultural region of Jember (p = 0.002, r = -0.081). These findings indicate that family social support plays a crucial role in maintaining adolescents' emotional stability and preventing self-harm behaviors resulting from difficulties in adapting to stressors.
