Abstract

The condition of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the emergence of feelings of anxiety, distress, and stress. One of the impacts of COVID-19 on mental health is the emergence of self-stigma in patients who have recovered from COVID-19. Self-stigma can give rise to negative attitudes in themselves over their condition. This study is aimed to describe the self-stigma incidence in post-COVID-19 patients in Kaliwates Subdistrict. This research design was descriptive quantitative with 86 post-COVID-19 patient respondents domiciled in Kaliwates Subdistrict determined by purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted by the Self Stigma Scale (SSS) questionnaire. The results showed that the median value of self-stigma was 30.50 with a minimum value of 0 and a maximum value of 56. A total of 14 people had a total score of 0 which means that 14 respondents (16%) did not experience self-stigma, while 72 others (84%) felt the existence of self-stigma with a different total score. This research is important to detect self-stigma to support the recovery process of post- COVID-19 patients. Nurses are expected to be able to carry out the further follow-up, act as counselors and provide interventions such as cognitive therapy for post-covid-19 patients who experience self-stigma.

Abstract

The elderly with cognitive decline becomes more anxious, restless, and socially withdrawn, thus requiring special attention. Social and emotional support and moral and material support provided by relatives and friends will strengthen the elderly's daily lives. This study aims to analyze the relationship between peer social support and stress levels in the elderly. The research design in this study was quantitative analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was 59 elderly living in the Tresna Werdha Social Institution. The measuring tool for this study used a Peer Social Support Questionnaire and the Stress Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ). The correlation test in this study used was the Spearman correlation test. The results of this study indicate that most of the elderly are in the moderate category of stress, with as many as 37 respondents (62.7%), and have peer social support in the positive category, namely 53 respondents (89.8%). Based on the Spearman correlation test, it was found that p-value = 0.001, which means that there is a correlation between peer social support and stress. Spearman's correlation value of -0446 indicates that the direction of the correlation is negative, with the strength of the relationship being. The higher the value of peer social support, the lower the stress on the elderly. Tresna Werdha Social Institution health workers can motivate the elderly so they can increase peer social support and improve programs that benefit the elderly.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Loneliness becomes a phenomenon in early adulthood due to the adolescent crisis towards early adulthood. One of the problems of loneliness is caused by a person's personality. Nursing students are prone to experiencing loneliness because they are in early adulthood, which at this age will go through a stage of psychological development, namely intimacy versus isolation. This study aims to determine the relationship between the big five personality types and the level of loneliness in nursing students. The research design used correlational quantitative with cross-sectional data collection. The number of samples used in this study was 95 respondents using a total sampling of students of the Nursing Professional Study Program, Faculty of Nursing, University of Jember. The Big Five Inventory (BFI) questionnaire was used to identify personality types, while the UCLA Loneliness Scale questionnaire was used to measure loneliness levels. It was found that 32 respondents (33.7%) had agreeableness personality types and 43 respondents (45.3%) experienced moderate loneliness. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square correlation test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a p-value of 0.649 indicating that there was no relationship between the big five personality types and loneliness in college students. This happens because it is influenced by several factors such as where you live, the presence of close friends and someone special who will provide space for someone to interact so that feelings of loneliness are reduced. Abstract

Background: Food security is a critical issue in rural areas, influenced by various socioeconomic factors, dietary practices, and resource ownership. Understanding the determinants of food security can help in designing effective interventions to improve the well-being of rural households. Purpose: This study aims to identify and analyze the key determinants of food security among rural households, focusing on dietary diversity, land ownership, and other socioeconomic factors. Methods: The dataset used in this study includes variables such as gender, marital status, education, land ownership, food crop cultivation, meal frequency, age, food source, Food Security Index (FSI), and Household Dietary Diversity Score (HDDS). Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to explore the relationships between these variables and the FSI. Additionally, a Random Forest Regressor model was employed to predict the FSI and to determine the importance of each feature. Results: The multiple linear regression analysis revealed that HDDS has a significant positive relationship with the FSI (p<0.001), indicating that higher dietary diversity is associated with higher food security levels. Other variables, such as education and food source, showed weaker correlations with food security. The Random Forest Regressor model achieved an R-squared value of 0.495, with feature importance analysis indicating that HDDS, food source, and age are the most influential factors in determining food security. The Mean Squared Error (MSE) of the model was 10.743. Conclusion: This research highlights the crucial role of dietary diversity and socioeconomic conditions in shaping food security outcomes in rural areas. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders aiming to enhance food security and dietary quality in rural communities. Further studies are recommended to explore the complex interactions between these variables and to develop targeted interventions to improve food security.

Abstract

Introduction: Self-harm behavior represents a maladaptive coping mechanism that can be highly harmful, potentially leading to injury or even posing a threat to an individual's life. Various factors contribute to self-harm behavior in early adolescence, with family dysfunction being one significant element. This study aimed to explore the relationship between family functioning and self-harm behavior among early adolescents in the Agricultural Area of Jember. Method: This study used a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample was obtained through a proportional stratified random technique with 376 respondents. The independent variable in this study is family function, and the dependent variable is self-harm behavior in early adolescents. Data was collected using the Family APGAR and Deliberate Self-harm Inventory (DSHI) questionnaires. Results: The result showed that family function is in the high category, 224 respondents (59,6%), and self-harm behavior is low self-harm, 319 respondents (84,8%). There is a relationship between family function and self-harm behavior in early adolescents in the agricultural area of Jember (p = 0,001 and r =-0,131) very weak and negative correlation. Poor communication among family members can lead to inner conflict and negative emotions, increasing the risk of self-harm. The data was analyzed using Kendall's Tau C correlation test. Conclusions: Early adolescents from families with low functioning are at a higher risk of engaging in self-harm. This study can serve as a guideline for schools, psychiatric nurses, and community nurses to develop effective nursing interventions for early adolescents who exhibit self-harm behavior.
