Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: The Covid-19 pandemic has had a wide impact on society, including healthcare workers on the frontline dealing with Covid-19. The large number of healthcare workers who have been exposed to and died due to Covid-19 causes anxiety for both nurses and midwives who work in hospitals. Objective: This study aimed to assess the factors associated with anxiety among nurses and midwives in the emergency unit and outpatient department of Mangusada Regional Hospital. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design involving 95 samples consisting of nurses and midwives working in the emergency unit and the outpatient department of Mangusada Regional Hospital which was selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Furthermore, data collection was done online using a Google form that has been shared with respondents. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis. Results: Of the total 95 respondents, 21 (22.1%) respondents experienced anxiety. Furthermore, multivariate analysis found that family history of exposure to Covid-19 (AOR: 19.39), history of comorbidities (AOR: 10.73), and support from family, colleagues, and superiors (AOR: 7.87) were significantly associated with anxiety among nurses and midwives during the Covid-19 pandemic. Conclusion: Hospital management needs to pay special attention to minimizing the anxiety experienced by nurses and midwives during the Covid-19 pandemic through the provision of social support from family, colleagues, and superiors.

Abstract

Introduction: The success of pulmonary TB treatment remains low due to patients' lack of compliance with the treatment regimen. This study aims to determine factors related to treatment compliance among TB patients at the Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic of the Raja Ampat Regional General Hospital. Methods: An observational research design with a cross-sectional study approach was employed, involving 125 tuberculosis patients receiving treatment at the Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic of the Raja Ampat Regional General Hospital, selected through total sampling technique. Data collection utilized a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square test), and multivariate (Binary Logistic Regression) analyses. Results: The majority of treatment-compliant TB patients among the 125 respondents were 74 (59.2%) in the compliant category. There was a significant relationship between age, education, knowledge, attitude, perception, motivation, and staff support with the level of treatment compliance. Good knowledge (AOR: 2.18; CI: 1.05-1.56; p 0.003) and high staff support (AOR: 1.27; CI: 1.11-1.68; p 0.006) increased TB patient treatment compliance. Conclusion: TB patient treatment compliance is still below the established standards. Knowledge and staff support enhance better treatment compliance, emphasizing the importance of education and improving service access, such as health worker visits to TB patients' homes.

Abstract

Background: Acute respiratory infections (ARIs) are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among children globally, and require early diagnosis and intervention. During the COVID-19 pandemic, ARI healthcare utilization has been a challenge. Objectives: This study aimed to determine healthcare utilization for ARI during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the associated factors among children aged under five years. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in South Denpasar District, Indonesia. It involved 221 mothers of children aged under five years with ARIs, selected using probability proportional to size. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics to measure frequency and proportion, along with multiple logistic regression to determine the factors associated with healthcare utilization of ARI. Results: Among 221 respondents, the majority (65.6%) utilized ARI healthcare in the health centers. Mother’s age (OR: 0.21; p=0.041), number of children (OR: 4.79; p=0.001), occupation (OR: 0.38; p=0.002), and distance traveled (OR: 2.37; p=0.008) were associated with utilization of ARI healthcare. Conclusion: The healthcare utilization for ARI during the COVID-19 pandemic was low. Therefore, improved utilization is needed by using local health centers, mobile services, and home visits.

Abstract

Background: Nurse anesthetists as medical personnel have an important role in the continuity of work in the operating room. Although they have considerable responsibility and role, no research has focused on the job satisfaction of nurse anesthetists. In addition, no literature review has shown low job satisfaction among nurse anesthetists. Objectives: This research aimed to determine the relationship between the work environment and job satisfaction of nurse anesthetists in hospitals. Methods: This research used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design through an online survey. The population of this research covered all nurse anesthetists working in hospitals in Central Java and Bali, of which 108 respondents were selected as the sample using a simple random sampling. The data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using inferential statistics, namely chi-square, to determine the relationship between the work environment and job satisfaction of nurse anesthetists. Results: This research showed that a total of 60 respondents (55.6%) had a high category of job satisfaction. In addition, the work environment factor (p=<0.001) significantly affected the job satisfaction of nurse anesthetists. Conclusion: Hospital management must strengthen the commitment related to the sense of belonging to employees by considering the work environment factor that can affect the job satisfaction of nurse anesthetists in hospitals.

Abstract

Background: Nursing care provided to patients, especially in hospitals, is expected to be of high quality, and its implementation is in accordance with the nurse's clinical competence. Objectives: This scoping review aimed to assess the implementation of the clinical competence of nurses in hospitals so that a clear picture of the implementation of these competencies is obtained. In addition, this study can be evidence-based and related to implementing these clinical competencies. Methods: This literature review used PICO framework to develop articles questions (P: nurses, I: not applicable, C: not applicable, and O: application of clinical nursing competency). Articles search for literature review was conducted during April and May 2023. This study used Pubmed and ScienceDirect Databases and other sources. The keywords that used in this scoping review was “nursing competency” OR “clinical nursing competency” AND “evaluation” OR “implementation” AND “hospital”.Results: There were 1,150 articles from the search results, but only seven were included for review. One article is a descriptive comparative study using a qualitative approach, and six articles are cross-sectional studies. The articles are publications within five years (2019-2023). In its implementation, the average clinical competency of nurses is at a low to moderate level, and only one study found was at high nurse competency. The results of the supervisor's clinical competency assessment were significantly lower than those assessed by oneself and the group. In addition, the nurse competency level was moderate, and there was no significant difference in the clinical competency of nurses before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusions: The implementation of nurses' clinical competence has yet to be optimal, so hospital management needs to improve nurses' clinical competence so that nurses can provide higher quality and professional nursing care in the hospital.

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) has made various efforts to reduce the number of COVID-19 victims globally. Many researchers are trying to develop a vaccine from this virus, but the vaccines that have been made are still considered not fully able to stop this pandemic. The efforts of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia have been made to accelerate the recovery of pandemic conditions into an endemic, by distributing the COVID-19 vaccine as the implementation of booster vaccinations. However, with the circulation of various negative news related to the COVID-19 vaccine and the development of viruses that continue to mutate, these affects the acceptance and willingness of the community in the implementation of covid-19 vaccination. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge, family support and community perceptions about booster dose vaccination against COVID-19 variants. The research design used was quantitative research with descriptive method. The sampling method used was snowball sampling, with a total of 317 respondents. After analyzing the data, the results showed that the community had a good level of knowledge (78.5%), a good level of family support (94%) in vaccinating and had a positive perception (99.7%) of the booster dose vaccination COVID-19. This study is expected to provide an overview for health workers to achieve success and follow-up strategies to restore conditions towards a better condition.

Abstract

Covid-19 has been declared a global pandemic Anxiety is a problem that often arises in patients treated at healthcare centers or hospitals. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors related to anxiety in facing societal stigma in Covid-19 patients in the Covid-19 Isolation Room of RSD Mangusada. This research method is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design conducted in the Covid-19 Isolation Room of RSD Mangusada in March-May 2021. The sampling technique was determined using consecutive sampling with a sample of 256 respondents. The Ordinary Logistic Regression test was used to determine the relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variable and to determine the most influential variable. The results showed that the age variable was the most influential on anxiety with a p-value of 0.049, OR=2.25, which means respondents aged 17-25 years can increase the risk of anxiety by 2.25 times compared to respondents who are adults and the elderly. Age, comorbid status, coping responses, disease-related information, and family support are factors related to patient anxiety in dealing with community stigma in Covid-19 patients at Mangusada Hospital. The involvement of all parties is absolutely necessary for dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Background: Health services provided to patients must not only be of high quality but also appropriate and prioritize patient safety, including patients undergoing surgery in hospitals. WHO in 2007 has provided recommendations for using a surgical safety checklist    (SSC) to improve patient outcomes. However, its application in the operating room is influenced by many factors and is still a challenge for surgeons, anesthesiologists and for nurses in filling out the SSC. Therefore, it is very important to conduct a literature  study to be able to find and describe previous studies that have been published, so that the results of this literature review can contribute to the implementation of SSC filling for the better. Methods:  This literature  study used 2 databases and from other sources. The search results found that there were 123 articles from Pubmed data based, 94 articles from Science Direct and there were 15 articles from other sources. However, only 12 articles were eligible for further review (included). Results: the literature  study found that the compliance of SSC filling was around 67% to almost 100%. Some of the barriers in implementing SSC filling are: lack of initiative, lack of support from senior surgeons and weak teamwork. Conclusion: educational intervention is very effective in improving SSC completion compliance. Keywords: Surgical safety checklist  , Hospital
