Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Paloh District is a turtle conservation area designated by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. This conservation area is managed by local community groups and the WWF-Indonesia Foundation under the authority of the West Kalimantan Province Maritime and Fisheries Service. Turtles are protected biota because of their endangered status. However, the community, especially local residents, do not yet have awareness of the importance of protecting this biota and also maintaining the balance of the surrounding ecosystem. Several cases occurred in Paloh, namely poaching for turtle eggs, degradation of turtle nesting beach habitat and marine debris pollution. Therefore, socialization and education on turtle conservation needs to be carried out, especially in the Paloh turtle conservation area. Activity participants are pupils, students and the community. The education and socalization provided includes the types of turtles, their conservation status and the protection efforts that can be taken. The aim of this community services was provided awareness for the community so that they participate in efforts to protect turtles and their habitat. Participants were very enthusiastic in taking part in the entire series of activities. There were five (5) participants who answered the questions correctly and received gifts from the organizing committee.

Abstract

Paloh District is a coastal area which directly borders to Sarawak (Malaysia) and the Natuna Sea. This area has the potential for marine and coastal resources, such as mangrove ecosystems, coral reefs and turtles, so it has been designated as one of the conservation areas in West Kalimantan. To date, in the management of KKP3K Paloh, there are still many challenges, one of them is plastic waste contamination. Plastic waste is a global and very complex problem, because it can have a negative impact on biota, ecosystems and human health. The results of a report from BKSDA in collaboration with the WWF-Indonesia Foundation, found that 21 young turtles were died on Paloh Beach, West Kalimantan due to plastic waste was found in their digestive tract. Plastic accumulation in the aquatic environment occurs when the rate of input of plastic pollution into an area exceeds the rate of natural removal processes. Therefore, it is needed an action to reduce the amount of plastic waste accumulated in coastal and marine areas. This activity aimed to reduce the amount of plastic waste on Sungai Belacan Beach, Paloh District, West Kalimantan. Apart from that, this activity was an effort to strengthen the management strategy for the Coastal and Small Islands Conservation Area (KKP3K) in Paloh, West Kalimantan. Community Service Activities were carried out at Sungai Belacan Beach. The results found the waste types consisting of plastic bottles, glass bottles, medicine bottles, drink cups/packaging, food and beauty product packaging, stereofoam, plastic bags and ropes, fishermen's fishing gear, and wood. Plastic waste has the highest percentage (95%), then wood waste (3%), and other types of waste (2%).

Abstract

The main cause of stunting is due to inadequate food intake according to the needs for growth and development of children, or insufficient nutrition of pregnant women. The low nutritional intake of pregnant and lactating mothers as well as children under five years old who are still growing and developing is generally caused by the wrong diet. One of the efforts to prevent stunting from an early age is to search for several sources of animal source food containing protein, fat and macro essential minerals according to nutritional standards. The purpose of this study was to determine the proximate content including protein and fat nutrition, water content and ash content, as well as mineral content including calcium, iron and phosphorus, from Tembakul (mudskipper) fish flour as the main needs in the growth of children, during pregnancy and lactation. Protein analysis was carried out using the Kjeldahl method, and fat analysis by extraction using a non-polar solvent, while the determination of essential macro minerals calcium and iron was carried out using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, and phosphorus analysis using ultraviolet spectrophotometry. The proximate content of Tembakul (mudskipper) fish flour from the Mempawah mangrove ecosystem is fat content (1.80%), protein content (50.67%), water content (24.58%), and ash content (20.20%). Mudskipper fish flour contains 3 essential minerals, namely Calcium (2.15%), Phosphorus (2.50%) and Iron (270.26 ppm).

Abstract

This article, "Strategy for Stunting Prevention Through Increasing Community Participation" is based on the "Gender Mainstreaming" Study in Kaliau Village, Sajingan Besar district, Sambas regency. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Our findings indicate that the causes of stunting in children in Kaliau village are inadequate nutrition, low-quality sanitation, poor reproductive health conditions, and decision-making skills, limited health service facilities, relatively low education level of both mothers and fathers and subsequent poor parenting skills. The form of participation carried out by the community is generally vertical in nature, where most child-caring and rearing responsibilities are shouldered by mothers, and fathers' involvement is still very low. We suggest the need to improve educational activities for community health and sanitation, parenting skills, nutritional education on healthy eating patterns for infants, pregnant women, and nursing mothers, and to increase the involvement of men as fathers and posyandu cadres. Furthermore, we need to provide adequate health-service facilities and infrastructure for every community, vitalize the Youth Family Development program (B.K.R.), and improve the coordination among local stakeholders in the area. Lastly, adequate remuneration should be provided for posyandu cadres to help them work more effectively.

Abstract

This research describes the adaptive behavior of married female students while studying from an anthropological perspective. The main focus of this research is how female students manage their dual roles as wives and students, with special emphasis on adaptive behavior. A qualitative approach was used, involving participant observation and in-depth interviews with female students who faced this situation. The results show that college students who marry while studying develop unique adaptive behavioral strategies to overcome daily challenges. This dual role not only impacts academic aspects, but also the social and emotional dimensions of female students. Cultural factors, social support, and community expectations play a major role in shaping the adaptive behavior of female students. This research makes an important contribution to understanding how female students can successfully manage their dual roles, especially in specific cultural contexts. In conclusion, this research describes in detail the complex dynamics of adaptive behavior of married female students in anthropological studies.Top of Form
