Abstract

This article discusses the application of literature in the form of a reading text to improve language skills for students of language education. Here, using a direct method experiment by 10 students in which they will be free to choose literature in the form of reading text that they like or according to literary work that they like and also specified essay. for example, they like to read novel so they may use novel in this research. In this research, it was proven that if students learn what they like or hobbies that are in the form of literature it will make it easier for them to learn languages and they enjoy the learning process.

Abstract

Currently, many teachers use movie as learning media or teaching materials for students to learn. Movie are very good for improving language skills in students, especially speaking skills because movie are equipped with audio visuals where in the movie students can hear and see firsthand how the correct words and sentences are pronounced so that students can know how to pronounce them and they can also practice it when talking to people other. This study uses qualitative methods and the sample is 10 students from several universities in Samarinda. They will fill out a questionnaire to find out how students respond to the use of movie as a medium or teaching material and whether they realize that watching movies will improve their speaking skills. The results showed that teachers who use movie as a medium or teaching material, teaching and learning activities become more fun and they get new experiences in learning. They also realized that by watching movies their speaking ability improved because they knew a lot about the correct pronunciation of words and they also knew a lot of new vocabulary.

Abstract

Critical reading is a core academic competence for International Relations students who regularly engage with global news texts. Such texts frequently embed ideological framing, selective evidence, and political agendas that require analytical interpretation. This study examines students’ self-perceived critical reading competence after instruction using the Global News Analysis Model (GNAM). It also explores students’ perceptions of GNAM’s effectiveness and identifies instructional components perceived as most influential. A quantitative descriptive survey was conducted with 72 International Relations students who completed GNAM-based learning activities. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. Reliability analysis showed strong internal consistency (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.88). Results indicate moderate to high perceived critical reading competence, with the strongest confidence in identifying main claims (M = 4.12, SD = 0.54) and the weakest in detecting media bias and framing (M = 3.31, SD = 0.73). GNAM was perceived as effective overall (M = 4.07, SD = 0.45), particularly in comparative media analysis (M = 4.26, SD = 0.49). The findings suggest that GNAM supports students’ analytical awareness of global news, although deeper ideological evaluation remains challenging.

Abstract

The integrity of the global academic record is under unprecedented threat due to the industrialization of scientific misconduct, driven by paper mills, citation cartels, and identity theft, prompting major bibliographic databases to replace manual curation with algorithmic systems. This study examines the operational mechanics of the Scopus Radar tool, an unsupervised anomaly detection system designed to identify and eliminate articles exhibiting anomalous behavior. We reconstruct the bibliometric indicators that lead to discontinuation by triangulating data from the November 2025 Scopus Discontinued Titles list, public Elsevier policy papers, and independent bibliometric research. Our study of 62 cancelled journals shows that Publication Concerns (59.7%) and Outlier conduct (14.5%) are the top grounds for removal. There are definite tendencies when it comes to hyper-concentrated authorship, quick volume velocity spikes, and citation stacking that does not make sense. We also see a "contagion effect," where certain publications have far greater rates of quitting than others. Based on these findings, we propose the Scopus Radar Readiness Model (SRRM). The model is based on the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and has four stages of growth. This roadmap gives editorial boards the tools they need to go from reactive compliance to proactive integrity assurance. They can do this by using internal bibliometric audits to find and fix problems before they lead to external algorithmic enforcement. The results show that journals need to use Level 4 Optimized integrity practices to stay alive in a time when automated gatekeeping is common.
