Abstract

Pada penelitian ini dilakukan analisa pengaruh parameter variasi arus terhadap keausan material elektrode/Electrode Relative Wear serta hubungannya terhadap laju pembuangan material / Material Removal Rate dari mesin EDM Chimer Ez. Arus yang digunakan 1,5; 3; 6; 8; 10 dan 12 amper. Sedangkan material elektrode menggunakan tembaga, kuningan, aluminium dan grafit serta benda kerja baja ST 60. Dari hasil yang di dapat secara umum, semakin tinggi arus yang digunakan angka keausan material elektrode semakin meningkat. Dari ketiga jenis logam kuningan, tembaga dan aluminium, logam kuningan memiliki angka laju keausan tertinggi dan yang terendah terjadi pada elektrode grafit. Kata Kunci: EDM, MRR, ERW, Elektrode

Abstract

In this study, a pack carburizing process was carried out on low carbon steel using activated carbon, coconut shell charcoal and various catalysts in the form of ale-ale shells, eggshells, and beef bones. The method used is heating at an austenite temperature of 900 oC with a variation of holding time of 30, 60, and 90 minutes, then quenching using water, followed by hardness testing with the Vickers method and composition testing. The general result is that the three types of catalysts can accelerate the diffusion-reaction so that the carbon addition process occurs and the longer holding time can provide an opportunity for the carbon formed to transform from the pearlite microstructure to the austenite microstructure, and when quenching it forms the Martensite microstructure. Of the three types of catalysts that produced the highest hardness was an ale-ale shell, from the initial hardness 119 HV to 464 HV.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to obtain information about the hardness value (hardening) and changes in microstructure as well as changes in the properties of the material at a temperature variation of 600℃ to 900℃. The method used in this study is an experimental method, where the material used is ST.90 steel, and Jominy testing. 5 samples were made at each temperature 22℃, 600℃, 700℃, 800℃, and 900℃ with the type of heat treatment in the hardening process. The test results for Vickers hardness decreased by an average of 33.99 HV or 31% and the carbon content decreased by an average of 0.19. or 48% of the normalizing process is not done. Based on the data above, it shows that the results of the Vickers hardness test and chemical composition with the hardening process of ST.90 steel, which are heated at 600℃, 700℃, 800℃, and 900℃ respectively, each temperature is reached and stopped with 60 minutes. In order for phase transformation to occur in all parts of the material, then the cooling process is carried out using the Jominy test, showing the mechanical strength, namely the Vickers hardness test decreases by 23% and the carbon content decreases at 37%.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of adding asbestos to the production of refractory bricks with different material compositions, namely kaolin, fly ash, asbestos and standard water. The composition of kaolin and fly ash is given in equal percentages, varying according to the mass of asbestos, 0 (%), 10 (%), 15 (%), 20 (%), 30 (%). The tests carried out are thermal conductivity and mechanical properties, where these results become parameters for determining the best composition. The results of testing the compressive strength of refractory bricks showed that 0 (%) quartz sand composition had the largest compressive strength, namely 14.40 (Mpa), the impact test results for 0 (%) asbestos fiber composition had the largest value, namely 0.084 (Joule/mm2), while the results Heat conductivity testing showed that quartz composition 30 (%) had the lowest value, namely 0.373 K(W/mC), thus the addition of asbestos fiber can reduce heat conductivity but cause a decrease in the compressive and impact mechanical properties of refractory bricks.
