Abstract

Learning media play a crucial and inseparable role in the teaching and learning process. Appropriate learning methods and media, such as videos and images, are necessary to facilitate students' understanding of the material presented by the teacher, ultimately maximizing learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the differences in biology learning outcomes using video media and images in Class VII of SMPN 1 Gunungsari. This type of research is a quasi-experimental study. The population of this study consisted of all students in class VII, comprising 10 classes with a total of 340 students. This study employed two classes: the experimental class and the control class. This study employed a purposive sampling technique, where the sample consisted of students who were more active and had stable learning outcomes. The experimental class consisted of 33 students, and the control class consisted of 33 students, resulting in a total sample of 66 students. The experimental class received learning through video media, while the control class used images. The results of this study showed that the average post-test score of the experimental class was 92.09, and the average post-test score of the control class was 80.06. Thus, the learning outcomes of students taught with video media were better than images. The results of the independent sample t-test showed a significant (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a difference in biology learning outcomes between video media and images in class VII students of SMPN 1 Gunungsari.

Abstract

Smokers in Indonesia are ranked first in the world and the biggest cause of death. Free radicals contained in cigarette smoke cause condensation of the structure of the genetic material of sperm cells and lead to sperm cell death (apoptosis). The aim of the research was to determine the effect of cigarette exposure and its interactions on the quality of spermatozoa in experimental animals. This research is a laboratory experiment with a Completely Randomized Factorial Design. The samples in this study were 60 males of the Balb/C strain which were divided into 5 treatment groups. Each treatment group was given concentrations of red dragon fruit peel extract including 0%, vitamin C, 50 µg/mL, 500 µg/mL, and 5000 µg/mL and were exposed to cigarette smoke. Analysis of research results used the Two Way ANOVA test at a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study showed that there was an effect of exposure to cigarettes and administration of red dragon fruit peel extract on the sperm quality of mice. The highest exposure to cigarette smoke was given to red dragon fruit peel extract in terms of viability of 89% and morphology of 93.33%. Administration of red dragon fruit peel extract reduced the effect of exposure to cigarette smoke on the viability and morphology of mice.

Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem is inhabited by various macroinvertebrates, such as brachyuran crabs, hermit crabs, gastropods, and bivalves. The mangrove ecosystem is a primary habitat for crabs to grow and develop, and it serves as a nursery ground for young organisms before they reach adulthood. This research was conducted from September 2023 to June 2024 in Gili Sulat, East Lombok. The aim of this study is to determine the diversity of crabs in Gili Sulat and their association with mangrove species. The method used in this research is purposive sampling, taking into account the density of mangroves. The study found 12 mangrove species: Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophora stylosa, Rhizophora apiculata, Ceriops tagal, Excoecaria agallocha, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Pemphis acidula, Avicennia marina, Lumnitzera racemosa, Xylocarpus rumphii, Cordia subcordata, and Osbornia octodonta. The mangrove density at station 1 was 1800 ind/ha, at station 2 was 1222 ind/ha, and at station 3 was 2411 ind/ha. The crabs found included 3 species: Baptozius vinosus, Notonyx sp, and Portunus pelagicus. The abundance of crabs at station 1 was 55.6 ind/ha, at station 2 was 33.3 ind/ha, and at station 3 was 66.7 ind/ha. The correlation between mangrove density and crab abundance had a coefficient of determination of 91.6%, indicating that mangrove density can significantly influence crab abundance. There is one species of crab that has a positive association with one species of mangrove, namely the crab species Baptozius vinosus and the mangrove species Rhizophora mucronata.

Abstract

Leadership is a form of art and culture in educational institutions. Leadership practices that tend to adopt leadership styles from the West have developed in the current era of globalization. Like a pearl buried by civilization and developments over time, the use of theories from outside seems to be increasingly sinking the existence of Javanese philosophy. Exploring Javanese leadership philosophy is an effort to revive a leadership philosophy based on local wisdom. It could be that the current leaders have jumped too far from their essential position. Serat Sastra Gendhing is a leadership philosophy that contains seven main mandates that can be upheld by a leader. Mastery of these seven characteristics is a characteristic of ideal leadership. This article was prepared based on library research, because it uses books as a data source. The data collection method is documentation. Meanwhile, the analysis method is content analysis. Serat Sastra Gendhing teaches the need for a leader to have social-spiritual intelligence, defend truth and justice, the ability to develop culture and be a pioneer of science.
