Abstract

Students' low writing skills are generally caused by suboptimal teaching methods implemented by teachers. This study aims to analyze the impact of the "Copy the Master" learning strategy combined with the synectics model supported by puzzle media on students' motivation and learning outcomes in writing imaginative stories. The research was conducted on seventh-grade students using a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The study involved two classes: a control class and an experimental class. The population consisted of seventh-grade students. Learning motivation data were collected using a questionnaire, while students’ learning outcomes were gathered through an objective (essay) test. The results showed a difference in learning motivation and outcomes after applying the "Copy the Master" strategy with the synectics model and puzzle media. Data analysis using MANOVA and hypothesis testing revealed a significant difference between the two groups, with the experimental group achieving an average learning outcome score of 81.21 compared to 71.00 for the control group, and an average motivation score of 75.85 compared to 71.07 for the control group. These findings indicate that the "Copy the Master" strategy with the synectics model supported by puzzle media is effective in enhancing motivation and the ability to write imaginative stories. The implication of this study is that teachers should be able to select and implement appropriate models and strategies in the learning process to create active, innovative, and meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

Abstract(Title: Indonesian Folklore as a BIPA Learning Material: Embracing the Past for BIPA Learning in The Future). Learning material has always been an interesting and crucial topic in the field of BIPA. This qualitative research collected the data from observation, document, and interview. The results show that Indonesian folklore has been included in some of BIPA materials, but it has not been used optimally and proportionally as integrative learning materials. Folklore carries local wisdom of local society and can be used as integrative language learning materials, connecting language and culture. Indonesian folklore (written, oral, and/or multimodal texts) can be integrated in BIPA to discover a deeper meaning behind the folklore in accordance with the context of the community. The understanding of Indonesian folklore will help students understand Indonesian more authentically and contextually. Folklore is about the past, but it can be used as a bridge for BIPA learning in the future. Teachers need to create fun activities when integrating folklore in the classroom. Keywords: folklore, BIPA learning materials, integrative BIPA learning

Abstract

Learning Indonesian for foreign speakers (BIPA) at the elementary school level requires a fun, communicative, and suitable approach for the child’s age and development. An effective medium in supporting this learning is children's songs. Songs can help children develop their ability to listen, pronounce, and understand language naturally. This study aims to describe the effectiveness, benefits, and challenges of integrating children's songs into BIPA learning at the Muslim Santitham Foundation School in Thailand. This research employed qualitative descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation of student learning outcomes. The research subjects were 32 elementary school students (A1). The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of three main steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results of the study show that the use of children's songs can increase students’ active participation, strengthen basic vocabulary mastery, and create a pleasant learning atmosphere. However, several challenges, such as limited audio-visual media and differences in students’ language ability levels, need special attention. Children’s songs have proven to be a potential medium in BIPA learning for children, especially in rebuilding the closeness of the Malay language and culture in the southern region of Thailand

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Writing instruction at the junior high school level requires the availability of modules that are aligned with the curriculum, relevant to the cultural context, and in line with developments in digital technology. Some of the teaching materials used in writing instruction are still conventional and do not integrate local cultural values or optimal digital features. This situation indicates a gap between the needs in the field and the availability of interactive and contextual teaching materials. This study aims to explore the needs of teachers and students in developing digital modules for writing non-literary texts based on local culture as a basis for developing innovative writing modules in junior high schools. The method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, questionnaires, and documentation studies analyzed using triangulation. The participants in this study consisted of Indonesian language teachers and junior high school students. The results of the study indicate that teachers and students need writing modules that are interactive, accessible online, communicative, and equipped with step-by-step guides. Another important finding is the need for local cultural content that can foster creativity and a sense of belonging to regional identity. The novelty of this research lies in the development of digital modules that integrate local cultural content to foster students' creativity in writing and their appreciation of local cultural values. This finding emphasizes the importance of developing modules that are tailored to the needs of users. This research contributes to the study of contextual digital module design and writing learning innovation in the era of digital literacy.
