Abstract

This research aims to: (1) describe the process of developing draomai application as Indonesian language learning media of drama text material for grade VIII junior high school students and (2) describe the feasibility of developing a draomai application product as Indonesian language learning media of drama text material for grade VIII junior high school students. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. The research was conducted in stages, including (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Implementation, and (5) Evaluation. The assessment of media was carried out by two material experts, media experts, and teachers to determine the feasibility of the media. The student response test involved students from class VIII C of SMP Negeri 4 Depok which was accomplished online and offline. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire. Then, the data analysis technique used was mixed methods, that are qualitative to analyze the questionnaire and quantitative to process the numeric data in the form of test scores. The results showed that validation from material experts and media experts has an average score of 4.6 and 4.3 which are categorized as very feasible. Furthermore, the feasibility level obtained from the teacher's assessment showed an average score of 5 with a very feasible category. Meanwhile, based on the average response results from students, it showed a final average score of 4.4 points that is categorized as very feasible.

Abstract

Kasus bullying (perundungan) masih kerap ditemukan di dunia, termasuk di Indonesia. Faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya perundungan sangat beragam, salah satunya adalah konten bacaan atau hiburan yang diberikan kepada anak. Dongeng dapat dimaafatkan sebagai stimulus pada anak untuk menumbuhkan nilai-nilai karakter yang baik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menemukan nilai-nilai karakter dalam dongeng Sanggau yang tercantum dalam buku Corita Muntuh Sanggau (Kumpulan Cerita Rakyat Sanggau) yang diharapkan mampu mencegah kasus perundungan pada anak. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kutipan kata, klausa, kalimat, atau paragraf yang merujuk pada nilai karakter. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik baca catat. Data dianalisis dengan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri atas pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan atau verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam dongeng di Sanggau, ditemukan beberapa nilai karakter yaitu nilai karakter toleransi, bersahabat/komunikatif, cinta damai, dan peduli sosial yang diharapkan mampu mencegah perilaku perundungan pada anak usia dini.

Abstract

Writing training at the high school level in Yogyakarta has been going well. However, there are many problems in its implementation due to the lack of competitive motivation among teachers or school institutions. This lack of motivation causes teachers' self-confidence to decrease and students are not optimal in the process of increasing literacy. This article is the output of writing training in schools for SMA/SMK/MA teachers in an effort to increase student literacy which can create motivation for students to think critically and achieve. By using a participatory action research approach, this community (PKM) seeks to overcome demotivation regarding the ability to write scientific papers and essays at the high school level in Yogyakarta which is caused by many students who are not interested and are less competitive in the field of writing. The results of PKM that have been achieved are increased motivation of teachers and students’ writing abilities, especially in the context of writing and presentation competitions. This PKM has also succeeded in creating collaboration between institutions, both between schools and between private institutions, which will be managed in the future in the context of developing writing and increasing student literacy.

Abstract

In today’s era, the interest in learning the Indonesian language as a foreign language is increasing, especially among learners from China. This increase can be attributed to the economic, cultural, and tourism relations between Indonesia and China, which have driven the demand for Indonesian language proficiency. In this context, it is important for learners to have cross-cultural understanding to avoid cultural conflicts. Drawing on intercultural theory and second language learning, this study aimed to: (1) identify the similarities and differences between Indonesian and Chinese cultures, (2) describe the contributions of both Indonesian and Chinese cultures in BIPA learning for Chinese learners. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data of this study were words, phrases, or sentences related to Chinese cultural content. Data sources were obtained from five respondents from China who are continuing their studies at Yogyakarta State University. Data collection techniques were conducted through semi-structured interviews. Data analysis used thematic analysis. The results indicate that the cultural differences and similarities between Indonesia and China can contribute to multicultural teaching materials, cross-cultural classroom management, and cross-cultural teaching strategies in BIPA learning.Di era ini, minat untuk mempelajari bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa asing semakin meningkat, terutama pemelajar dari Tiongkok. Peningkatan tersebut dapat dikaitkan dengan hubungan ekonomi, budaya, dan pariwisata antara Indonesia dan Tiongkok yang telah mendorong permintaan akan kemampuan berbahasa Indonesia. Dalam konteks ini, penting bagi pemelajar untuk memiliki pemahaman lintas budaya guna menghindari konflik budaya. Dengan menggunakan teori intercultural dan pembelajaran bahasa kedua, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menemukan persamaan dan perbedaan budaya Indonesia dengan Tiongkok; (2) mendeskripsikan kontribusi kedua budaya Indonesia dengan Tiongkok sebagai Pembelajaran BIPA bagi pemelajar Tiongkok. Penelitian ini termasuk deskriptif kualitatif. Data berupa kata, frasa, atau kalimat terkait muatan budaya Tiongkok. Sumber data diperoleh dari lima responden dari Tiongkok yang sedang melanjutkan studi di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur. Analisis data menggunakan analisis tematik. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan dan persamaan budaya Indonesia dan Tiongkok dapat memberikan kontribusi meliputi bahan ajar multikultural, pengelolaan pembelajaran kelas lintas budaya, dan strategi pengajaran lintas budaya dalam pembelajaran BIPA.

Abstract

As an aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, university learning has been significantly impacted despite the need to adapt to technology to support online learning. Nonetheless, it is essential to recognize that online learning can pose various challenges, including learning loss, which can affect the decline of students' knowledge and skills. The present study was aimed at identifying (1) the types of platforms used in online learning and (2) the symptoms of learning loss experienced by students during online learning. The study was quantitative-qualitative research with a mix-method approach. Data collection was carried out using observations, online surveys (Google form), and interviews conducted in 2021. Data were collected from 70 students of Indonesian Language and Literature Education class of 2020 Yogyakarta State University. Data analysis used quantitative-qualitative analysis. The results showed that the types of platforms students use include WhatsApp, Zoom, UNY Be Smart, Google Meet, Google Classroom, Powtoon, Geneally, Padlet, Quiziz, and Jamboard. The Whatsapp was the most widely used platform. However, online learning that provides many benefits also caused symptoms of learning loss in online lectures. The symptoms of learning loss experienced by students were lecturing while doing other activities, no one responding to the lecturer's questions, turning off the camera during lectures, and passive discussion presentations. The findings suggest that lecturers should increase their supervision and engagement, create a more engaging learning environment, and encourage active participation from students.

Abstract

The existence of Indonesian as a foreign language, known as BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing) is getting more prominence since it has just declared as one of official language at UNESCO on November 20, 2023. This study aims to describe the perspectives of BIPA students from China who participate in the credit transfer program at the Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture, Yogyakarta State University, towards Indonesian culture. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation studies of mini project papers. The subjects of this research are 12 foreign students from Yunnan Minzu University (YMU), Quijing Normal University (QJNU), and Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). The results show that almost all BIPA students from China have a positive perspective on Indonesian culture. These positive perspectives are seen in various aspects such as slang language, the BIPA learning process, education, marriage, tourism, and national holidays in Indonesia. This study provides a deeper understanding of foreign students' views on Indonesian culture and can enhance the effectiveness of cultural learning in the BIPA program.

Abstract

Forever love"is a short story by Helvy Tiana Rosa that discusses women's struggles in social life. The aim is to describe the existence of women in the social system, family and environment. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis with a qualitative research type and an existential feminist approach. The data were obtained from excerpts from the short story "Forever Love". The research technique was carried out in stages, namely determining data sources, collecting data, and grouping data. Data analysis techniques were carried out in stages such as reducing research data, presenting research data, and concluding research data. Based on the research results, researchers can find that women are inspirational about love, friendship, and hard work.

Abstract

Pembelajaran membaca bagi mahasiswa calon guru Bahasa Indonesia merupakan hal penting yang wajib dikuasai. Mengingat mahasiswa calon guru Bahasa Indonesia sebagai penentu keberhasilan literasi siswa di sekolah. Selaras dengan hal tersebut. Pembelajaran membaca khususnya membaca kritis di lingkungan mahasiswa harus didukung dengan berbagai macam hal baik dari model, strategi dan juga bahan ajar. Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebutuhan produk yang berupa buku elektronik dalam mata kuliah membaca khususnya membaca kritis bagi mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam jenis penelitian pengembangan (RD). Model yang digunakan adalah model Brog and Gall. Dalam penelitian ini akan diuraikan mengenai hasil analisis kebutuhan yang merupakan studi pendahuluan sebagai landasan dalam mengembangkan produk. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Metode tersebut digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil penelitian yang berupa; (1) observasi; (2) analisis dokumen berupa RPS; (3) wawancara kepada dosen dan mahasiswa serta; (4) telaah analisis kebutuhan. Secara keseluruhan hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa dosen dan mahasiswa sangat membutuhkan buku ajar elektronik dalam mata kuliah membaca khususnya membaca kritis, hal itu didasari dengan pernyataan yang menyatakan bahwa saat ini buku ajar membaca sudah sangat banyak, namun buku ajar membaca khususnya membaca kritis berbentuk elektronik yang digunakan sebagai referensi pokok perkuliahan masih sulit ditemukan.

Abstract

Language and culture could not be learned and taught separately. Therefore, a learning material based on culture should be considered for a meaningful instructional process. This study is aimed to develop a culture based textbook for academic purpose using a model of teaching language and culture. This model includes language  knowledge, language  awareness,  culture  awareness,  and  culture  experience. The first step (need assessment) concerning the need to develop a culture based textbook was done in the previous study by Zuchdi and Nurhadi (2019), while the level of students language competence and their cultural interest was done in the beginning of this study. This study was the development of an intercultural based textbook through these following procedures: defining objectives, identifying culture topics, developing materials and media of instruction, content layout and graphic design, internal and external review, try out for product validation, and developing final draft. Based on the survey, the majority of respondents were in level 3 and 4  of  Indonesian  language  competence,  so  this  textbook  was developed for that levels. The respondents were students taking Indonesian language program in Ahmad Dahlan University in Yogyakarta. The data were collected using pretest-postest and instructor’s reflection, and then analyzed by finding out the difference between the scores category. Almost half of the pretest scores were in the low and medium category, while all of the postest scores were in the high category. Based on the the instructor’s reflection, the students were really involving to study using this textbook. It can be concluded that the culture based Indonesian language textbook for academic purpose is effective for teaching and learning Indonesian as a foreign language.

Abstract

Upacara adat mantende mamongo atau adat lamaran merupakan rangkaian adat Suku Pamona yang dapat dikategorikan sebagai kajian linguistik kebudayaan karena mengandung makna simbolik pada seluruh aspeknya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan makna simbolik baik secara verbal maupun nonverbal pada rangkaian upacara adat Mantende Mamongo. Jenis penelitian ini berupa kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan etnografi yang dilakukan di Desa Kawende, Kecamatan Poso Pesisir Utara, Kabupaten Poso. Jenis data berupa data lisan dengan teknik pengumpulan data yaitu observasi pada upacara adat, wawancara bersama dua informan yang terdiri dari ketua adat dan tokoh budaya, menggunakan teknik catat dan dokumentasi. Ditemukan hasil yang menunjukan bahwa adanya makna simbolik verbal yang terdiri atas pertanyaan berbahasa Pamona dari dewan adat kepada calon mempelai laki-laki dan perempuan, dengan makna agar mengetahui kesiapan dari kedua calon mempelai. Selain itu, terdapat pula kayori yang diucapkan oleh ketua adat yang bermakna sebuah kegembiraan karena upacara mantende mamongo telah selesai. Pada simbol nonverbal ditemukan pada pakaian adat Suku Pamona, serta bungkusan mamongo yang memiliki makna sebagai niat baik dari pihak laki-laki untuk melamar calon mempelai perempuan. Apabila calon mempelai perempuan membuka bungkusan mamongo dan bersedia memakai kalung emas yang diberikan, maka itu dimaknai sebagai penerimaan lamaran secara sah. Merujuk dari proses penelitian ini, terdapat rekomendasi seperti pentingnya peran generasi muda dalam melestarikan budaya lokal, dan bagi peneliti selanjutnya dapat melakukan penelitian yang lebih mendalam tentang simbol-simbul adat Suku Pamona, sehingga diharapkan penelitian ini dapat menjadi rujukan yang relevan untuk penelitian di masa depan.
